I called yesterday trying to find the particular color savage paper I needed for a shoot on Sunday. Whoever answered the phone asked me what I was talking about and I explained to him that I was looking for seamless paper. He put me on hold(I can only assume to ask what seamless paper was) then came back and said that they only carry another brand. Great, so I’m looking for a mocha color in a 53 inch width… Silence. I was told he’d have to get my name and number and give me a call back. As you can imagine, I got no call. I was excited to find this place because it’s way closer to me than Houston camera exchange, but I think I’ll just make the trek from now on.

Microsearch provides a much needed service in Houston: the ability to rent gear other than cameras/lenses. There’s Texcam of course, but unless you have a child to sell their prices are hardly affordable. The prices and range of items Microsearch has to offer is impressive, however, their lack of inventory leaves something to be desired. I have only rented from them a handful of times but on every occasion I’ve tried to rent a group of items they’ve not had at least one. While I understand the occasional shortage, consistently not having items available, even with a week’s notice, leaves the rental side a bit lacking. The same cannot be said for their showroom though, which is amazing. Practically everything they have to offer is on their floor is available to be handled and played with. This is great for anyone who, like me, desires the ability to get a hands on experience with a piece of gear before purchase. I will consistently use Microsearch over Texcam now, provided they have the gear I’m looking for that is.
