Had my inspections done here. Remember inspection here is cash only. They take credit card for everything else. Got my oil changes done here as well. Didn’t have to make an appointment. Drove right in for both my cars. Owner squeezed me in.
Owner was straightforward. No upsells. I live in the area so location works for me. Owner and mechanics are master certified, which is pretty rare, so they actually get a lot of business from insurance and dealerships.
Would recommend this shop for all repairs. Price wise, seems like a good deal for the city. I moved here from
Iowa, and prices were within 10−15% of what I would pay in Iowa (labor cheaper there)

I came in to get an inspection and oil change. Owner is extremely personable and is the real deal. There is a reason he is rated by various publications. Support local businesses and give this place a shot.

The place is near my home (7 min away) and the owner is very polite. I needed a state inspection for my Honda Civic and he took care of it in less than 15 min. Definitely recommend it!

This place is good and all guys really professionals! I must an oil change because went more 6 month how I did it. Guys could this a little more 30 minutes, and I got some important advices for the use of my car.
I try to use only original oil, but last time I hadn’t money and bought cheap oil. Guys paid attention on this, and made me remark that I can break down the engine. I recommend this place and I will come back again!

Support local businesses, especially guys at Midtwon Auto Repair. The owner is a very genuine guy, fit us in for an oil change that we really needed before going on a road trip. He also pointed out that a factory hanger for our exhaust system was missing. The owner also recommend to only use factory brand fluid for automatic transmission, something that was news to me. He said that Midtown Auto Repair does all fluid changes to factory specifications, something to consider because chain/​corporate auto service places generally do not replace fluids to factory specifications, which can damage your transmission. After reading the great reviews, I can say it is all true. I trust these guys to perform with integrity.

I received friendly and kind service and everything went through smooth and quick. I had a 75k maintenance and state inspection. I walked in 10am and received call about 2 to be told everything has been done. No thing need to be worried about.

My Honda Civic had a check engine light, had triple-​a tow it to Midtown Auto Service. Turns out nothing was really wrong with it, so they didn’t charge. Awesome!

Found this place on Unilocal and AAA recommended. Had extensive work done in my car last year. Had issues with overheating. They were quickly able to diagnose issue within the hour. Very knowledgable, pleasant, efficient. Clean building and great people. Will definitely go to for all my car problems and maintence.

I just got my state inspection from Midtown Auto and I’d recommend it without reservations. We just moved to Midtown, and I found Midtown Auto earlier this morning while I was out walking my dog and multitasking to find nearby inspection shops. Besides the proximity, that they open at 8:00am was what sealed the deal.
I have never had customer service so prompt, and especially never when it comes to car stuff. I tell you the 100% truth: a mere 12 minutes elapsed between when I pulled into their driveway off Almeda to when I was back in my car, inspection complete, on my way out.
It’s a state inspection; everyone needs one, prices are fixed, and tons of shops offer them. So there’s very little reason for anyone to try very hard especially re: customer service for inspections. But Midtown — and the owner — are genuine in wanting to provide good service.
My husband’s car’s inspection is due next month and I’m taking his car right back to Midtown Auto.

Great service and excellent work! Took my car in last minute before a roadtrip to California and Mike was wonderfully helpful degunking the clogged air filters and fixing my worn down and mutilated brakes. He called me with every update and made sure my car was ready early by working on it himself. Would definitely return and recommend to a friend.

I’ve been meaning to write a review. Midtown Auto became my go-​to when my Jeep had its problems. Although you’re paying more than you would at other places, Mikey gets the job done right the first time. He fixed my Jeep when it was over heating and when it had a leak and haven’t had any problems since.

Came to get an emissions test done and they gave me a vehicle inspection instead. Mike was willing to give me an emissions test for the one price. I like the great customer service and the integrity with which they operate. After that I got an oil change and they showed me some other problems I had. Great place to come for the automotive novice.

The owner Mike was very helpful and was completely straight with me from beginning to end. I got my car repaired in just one day, which was great. I’ve been to a few shops around town with my old Volvo’s. It’s hard to find a trustworthy mechanic to work on a Volvo in this city so I appreciate him getting original parts all the way from Galveston! It’s a AAA certified business. He also has wifi in the office if you want to wait. Family owned for more than 20 years. Will definitely be back!

Quick, cheap, and most importantly, honest, service. The owner is very professional and helpful, and he was very transparent about what needed to be done and how much it would cost (very reasonable prices).
Also took my car in for a state inspection. Owner gave me a hefty discount because my car was a newer model. No other services around offered discounts like this.

My first Unilocal review… And it’s well deserved. Trustworthy, professional, and responsiveness — great customer service! Mikey (the owner) is trustworthy and straightforward. He could have very easily charged me approx. $ 500 for a fix but didn’t…appreciated his honesty, energy, and high quality service.
Definitely going back and would highly recommend Midtown Auto Service.

I stopped by Midtown Auto Service to get a state inspection done. I was surprised that they only take cash for state inspections even though they accept credit & debit cards for all other work. I didn’t have any cash on me, so I left. The service rep didn’t seem to mind that I was taking my business elsewhere, which is too bad. I’d like to support local shops, but forcing people to pay cash is just silly these days and bad for business. I ended up going over to Montrose Automotive Center, which is also near my home.
Lesson learned: If you need a state inspection, remember to carry some cash!
I haven’t had other services performed here, so my comments and ratings are not pertinent to that.
UPDATE: The owner did reach out to me, which is considerate. Not all places will do that.

I had been on a streak of going to Auto repair shops in Houston that waste your time, use faulty replacement parts, and merely patch things up for the meanwhile.
Finally, I found the right place to go! Mike at midtown auto service is highly trained mechanic you can trust and will find out exactly what’s wrong with your vehicle. My Trailblazer went in late Saturday and was ready first thing Monday morning. Go here next time and quit wasting your money anywhere else!
