The service here is absolutely terrible. BUT the food is actually great! Specifically the«tacos de trompo»! Although the food is great, $ 40 for 3 people eating tacos and a child’s plate is a little too much money. The incredibily over priced food and the bad service is what ruined it for me. All in all, the food is great but if you like cheap food and good service, this might not be the place for you.

Come here for excellent michaladas, guacamole, tortas, tacos, specialty meats and cheeses, and the best green salsa around. The staff is awesome and always provides the best service with great atmosphere. My go to dish is el Regio special but everything on the menu is excellent. A true Houston gem and home run!

Straight down the middle Mexican street food. No reason not to come here. No super-compelling reason to come here.

Man there is something about this place that hits the mark incredibly well, and the thing is i wouldn’t classify this as a Mexican restaurant as the food seems to stray in a good way where the food you’re getting is definitely an experience one should try. My first time here I got some take out and got the regio dish and an order of tacos tlaquepaque which can be best described to American eaters as roast beef tacos which were pretty much mind blowing. Now on my 2nd visit I’m going to have the rosy which comes with a mixture of tacos and the queso flamedo. One should note that the menu here is pretty straight forward

Don’t come here expecting the food and ambiance of a Pappasito’s or similar places. Taqueria Monterey is a joke in the wall, authentic Mexican taco shop. Their tacos the trompo are spot on and they even have gringas! They had aguas frescas of Jamaica(hibiscus), lemon, and horchata. The horchata tasted just like my granny used to make.

LOVELYLOVELYLOVELY! We each had an exquisite salad in addition to tea service. The salads were exceptional, the tea– standard, but the moments in this classic setting were priceless. Service excellent– the young lady was charming, witty and attentive.

Pretty good and tasty for the price. Love these hole in the wall kinda places, very authentic. Piratas were on point and the trompo was spot on. 3.5 of 5 stars. Id like to thank Jesus Christ, Jehovah God almighty.

Delicious and authentic tacos de trompo! Love the bisteck and pork tacos. I had them cater my bachlorette pre-party and all the girls loved it! Their hamburgers are great too!

Went to this taqueria today and was a good choice, the only reason is three stars. The atmosphere wasn’t what I expected. The food was good, had the trompo taco and the pistoleros beans. The beans were really hearty and full of beef. This is a good place, the only reason I gave it three stars is that I have had better. But give it a try!

Excellent food. I’ve been twice, and enjoyed the food both times. I especially recommend the Frijoles Pionero(sp?). Best frijoles I’ve ever had.

I’ve been on a mission. To find tacos just as good if not close to the ones I ate in Monterey, Mexico… This place did ok. Nothing special. The tacos were room temperature and the salsa lacked flavor/spice. It was decent.

One of the best taqueria in the hood. I love the tacos de trompo(special marinated pork meat). Their breakfast menu is not too bad and very reasonable prices. Everything is good here.
