Wow, wow, wow! Bring on the strippers! JD is magnificent! Drinks a bit high, but strong! Friendly staff. Did I say strippers!

Wow, what the heck happened tonight at this place! In town visiting a friend and we ALWAYS come to this bar first just to get in the «cruise mood». First thing you noticed, terrible customer service, the bouncer, or «fat guy in drag», just walks by us and does not say «welcome» or anything, very pretentious in my mind. But, I rubbed it off maybe it was just one bad apple. WRONG, the entire, bar staff, was bad. The ugly bartenders, service some twink who is not hot enough to be half as attractive as normal patrons who are standing around waiting to be serviced. Wow, the old daddy wants to hit on this boy, when the boy smakes a 1 dollar down and goes to the next person, guess all that horrible effort went unnoticed. I left with my bud because I was standing there with him for at lease 10 minutes, awkwardly, and very patiently waiting for these queens to get they’re hit on list. Pathetic. This place has hit rock bottom. If you want to go to terrible bar, come here. This place should be called, «rock bottom» because it failed tonight miserably.

I’ve had an excellent time every visit. The staff is professional, courteous, and friendly. The ambiance definitely matches the name (very dark, cool). The bartenders can sling a beer or mix the perfect cocktail. I will continue to frequent this place when I’m in the area.

Something like JR’s and Ripcord’s bastard. This is a fun and cheap bar. I find that this is the place to go on a Sunday

The Montrose Mining Company — As it was said in Steel Magnolias «now there’s a story».
The crowds here are typically the crowds that were across the street at JR’s and South Beach 10 years ago. That being said it also doesn’t seem to have the same level of pretense as those clubs.
The patio is the best place here and where the best drinks are mixed. The staff has always been friendly. If you are cool with dive bars, you will feel right at home at ‘The Mine’.

This spot was more for the older/​bear/​daddy crowd. It was filled with a ton of people (most pretty brawny) so if that’s your thing, then this is the spot.

Great bar for Houston: this is your gay leather/​levi bar with the clientele that you’re looking for. Friendly service and happy customers.
AND there’s the obligatory «trough» in the men’s room, so you can check your neighbor’s equipment measurements :)

Okay, I was promised dark and seedy… I got that, but it wasn’t quite the dive I was expecting. Fortunately, I like to get a little dirrty every once-​in-​a-​while. Coming here is a nice change of pace from the wannabe pretty boys prancing through South Beach (*ahem* says one of the actual pretty boys prancing through South Beach).
The bartenders kinda have an attitude toward young guys. That’s fine. I don’t mind playing daddy when it means I’m going to get a drink. Besides, the best way to get back at them is to use a credit card to pay. It’s a pain in the ass and the old men working there have to put their glasses on to see the receipt. That’s when I get to smirk…
Oh… I can’t leave out the bathroom. An old, rusted porcelain trough that has clearly seen enough action to have stocked every sperm bank in Houston. Yes, I went there. The mirror is probably intimidating to some. I actually got compliments while standing there, but I digress… :)

OMG!!! So much fun!!!
Open until 3am for after hours. Its dark and kind of small but intimate. Great crowd and dancers were really cute too!!!
Drinks were ok but service was great.
Fun to hit this spot after a long time and finish off a night of partying.
