We came by before they were going to close down so the owner offered the chicken kaarage to us at a very reasonable price. For that special price, the amount of food was ample. The chicken tasted good. It’s a bit different from regular fried chicken at any chains. I would say the adequate amount of sriracha and mayo did make a difference. I’m not a big fan of fried food but I will definitely return for some other options on the menu. The owner is very friendly, which is always a plus.

Definitely one of my go-to food trucks! I’ve had it a few times and I always get the Swaggy Dog. It’s almost like a sushi burrito! Super delicious, especially with the spicy mayo type sauce it comes with. If you’re not really looking to try anything crazy, my boyfriend and I also love the chicken karaage with rice! It’s basically fried breaded chicken nuggets. If you’re looking to try them, go on a night when they’re at Axelrad! Definitely a great place to sit down, eat, and relax.

Purchased the Swaggy Rolls, while attending an event on market Square last Saturday morning. I thought they were delicious. The combo of the perfect sticky rice, crispy tempura shrimp, avocado, and corn was very satisfying and a good portion size. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes when I see the truck around town.

This sushi/Mexican fusion was awesome. We were at Axelrad with some friends and needed a bite to eat. I’ve always wanted to eat some Luigi’s at Axelrad, but I was pretty sure the wait was going to be tremendous, because Axelrad was so packed(as usual). So we went to check out the two food trucks that are parked just outside the gate before the parking lot at Axelrad. Lucky for us, one of the food trucks was Muiishi Makirritos — a sushi and Mexican fusion food truck! For my fiancé, I ordered the Shwimp and Grits — spicy stone ground grits, tempura shrimp, sous vide pork belly, and fried shiitake mushrooms. For me — the lightly fried smoked salmon roll! We both loved our food! And it was perfect with any of Axelrad’s TONS of beers on tap! Only con? A bit pricey for the portion size — but the ingredients they use are good and fresh so I guess that makes up for it a bit!

I was at The Refinery for a fund raising event for a friend and Muiishi Makirritos was one of four trucks out there. I’d already eaten at The Waffle Bud, Flippin’ Patties, and Oh My Gogi previously so I wanted to try something new. I ordered the Hot Mess Fries and the Salmon Roll, and it was delicious. The Hot Mess could have had a little more meat on it but otherwise it was still good. The Salmon Roll was also very tasty and filling. Although I do enjoy the rise in popularity of gourmet food trucks i just wish they weren’t so expensive, with the exception of this fund raising event, of course. I understand that they’re «gourmet» but it almost seems like for the price you pay($ 8-$ 10 per item), you might as well go somewhere you can sit down and eat. Then another thing I noticed was wait times for orders are off. Others that ordered after me got their orders before I did. It was strange but I guess it depends on what you order and how easy it is to prepare. Other than price and waiting, the food is usually on point at these food trucks, and really that’s my only reason for 4⁄5 stars. I was always under the impression that street food from food trucks were supposed to be less expensive than typical sit down establishments.

This is one of my friends’ favorite food trucks. She loves this food truck so much that she would actually have the food truck camped out of her house whenever she was having a house party — true story! That was actually the first time I tried Muiishi Makirritos. So far I’ve tried the following: Swaggy Dog — these are some big rolls. And definitely delicious. Chicken Karaage Burrito — Also huge and delicious Hot Mess Fries — Nom nom nom Tempura Fried Oreos — SHUTUPANDTAKEMYMONEY! I’ve pretty much loved everything that I’ve tried here so far. When they say that«Everything is Muy Bueno», I really don’t think that they’re lying. Only downside: it’s a food truck so the wait could take a while.

This food truck is by the Museum of Fine Arts every Wednesday. I love getting the Veggie Rolls! The tempura corn is deep fried individual kernels and kinda sweet. It makes all the difference on a veggie roll, giving the whole thing texture and extra ooph. I’m not a vegetarian, but I get the veggie roll everytime. It is that good. The whole gets dipped into a cilantro lime creamy dressing. It’s refreshing, substantial, and satisfying. It does take longer than the other food trucks what come to the MFAH. But I think the wait is worth it. The roll is extremely filling

I was very impressed when noticed the truck not so far from my house, I was waiting some days before decided to try food. My neighbors told me that the food is yummy and super-fast in cooking, you don’t need to wait long. So, i finally i tasted their rolls, which were so delicious and not tasteless and super fresh. The food is tasty, but i have a lot of doubts, because don’t trust food trucks and their service. I’m afraid about the clearness of this truck. But maybe it just my imagination and pregujice. That is why i put only 4 stars. Rolls were tasty and this is more important!

Food trucks gather around near my work building every second Tuesday of the month. I’ve had this food truck before, but it was a longgg time ago. I got the fried egg roll mac and cheese and the kakumi makirritos. Fried egg roll mac and cheese– Different, not many people have this. But at the same time, it wasn’t very WOW. It was good though. I’m not sure if it’s something that I would order again. The kakumi makirrito– omg. omg. omg. Haha. It was so good! I wanted to keep eating more but I was so full! The pork belly was so soft and cooked perfectly. The sauce that came with it complimented the roll so well. I can’t wait to come get this again.

Update: Shortly after I provided a review the owner reached out to me to bash me. Her utter lack of professionalism is appalling. And her method of dealing with feedback is immature. Changing to 1 star. — — — — — — — — - Ok, I’ll make this short and sweet. I ate here at the Pop Shop event at Silver Street Studios. Ordered the pork belly burrito. The burrito was ok. The pork was tender, but nothing to really rave about. The main item I want to highlight, and to give feedback to the owners is the time between ordering and service really needs to be improved. I waited 20 minutes for a pork burrito. Pork that has already been cooked sou vi for 24 hours. But the long wait time didn’t bother me until people who ordered after me were receiving their orders first. Rice bowls, loaded fries, etc that were ordered after me where coming out before my burrito. I had to follow up with them twice before my single burrito came out. Very disappointing.

The lady attendant really seemed annoyed by my presence. I ordered the first item and without asking if I wanted anything else ahe yelled the total. I needed to order something else for my wife, when I sarted asking questions about the food she told me pointing to the menu«there is a menu right there». After that, I really felt I had lo leave! I don’t think it is acceptable for establishments to treat people this way. Not every costumer is an expert when ordering. I was the only costumer there so she had all the time in the worldto expain to me one item even if «the menu is right there.» It remainded menof the Soup Nazi!

Ok ok ok, I’m breaking a rule here because we shouldn’t read other people’s post then draw from that to write our own… but what I’m truly upset about is how the owners have responded to negative comments/feedback. It’s not always rainbow and sunshine in the food industry as they should know, having been in the business for what 3 – 4 years now? If someone says something negative to you, you should perhaps try to first resolve the situation and then learn from it. Instead of telling people to not ever return or calling them names… just respectfully reply by defending your food and how it’s made because you know whats up, then tell them you’ll work on it and come back to see that it has been done. It’s not that difficult. I agree with some of the posts that have stated the orders take a while before their in your hands to be eaten. I have personally encountered that too, recently. Not that I’m some food expert, but recently after watching a show called: Great Food Truck Race, there are some standards that are needed to be met manning a food truck. Just like a restaurant, you need quality ingredients to make good tasting food and at a quick pace. Especially for a food truck since it’s more of a quick grab and go set up. Lastly, I get that you guys are sometimes overworked, put into tough situations, and have to deal with the weather… but at the end of the day, customer service is a huge part of the food industry, so it is so imperative for there to be a good relationship between owners and customers. ENDRANT. Food now. Ordered a chicken kaarage(not sure if spelling but you know) burrito. Overall it was good, though I would prefer smaller cuts of meat, just because it would be easier to eat(kind of tough when I tried biting through the pieces). The rice was just enough. The other things that were included(slaw?) were a good compliment to the burrito. Oh and it was pretty big in size, so for I think $ 8 bucks, it’s pretty decent.

Muiishi Makirritos came to my apartment complex not long ago, which was a fun treat! This was my first time to try their food, and I greatly enjoyed the Kakuni burrito, which has 24 hour sous vide pork belly, sushi rice, avocado, kimchi sour cream, fried shiitake and oyster mushrooms. I loved the way all of the flavors in the burrito melded together to make a unique and awesome dinner. The burrito was definitely big enough to split into probably 2 serving sizes, but my inner fat kid took over and I devoured the whole thing, leaving me super full afterward. WORTHIT. The wait was pretty short, and the people working in the truck didn’t go out of their way to be friendly, but it didn’t ruin my experience. Everything else on the menu looked amazing. I would definitely stop there again if I saw them out in the streets of H-town.

This is what I call love at first sight. On my first visit, I ordered the crabby patty and kakune makarrito, which had pork belly as the main meat. The crabby patty was pretty good but nothing special since it was just soft shell crab(basically a spider handroll). The pork belly makarrito is what made me fell in love. The flavors were rich and mixed well with each other. The pork belly literally melted in my mouth and it was absolutely beautiful. The size of the burrito is a bit on the smaller size for the price($ 9) but the flavors do make up for it.

This review has been waiting in my «drafts» section since January… oops My friend and I braved the cold to try this popular food truck — it wasn’t pleasant outside, but the folks here were kind enough to hand out hot miso soup while we waited! My friend was fixin’ to leave Houston the next day, so we went a little overboard since this was one of his last meals in town. Please know that these dishes are HUGE(we were told they were individually portioned) and can definitely be shared! Ranked from best to worst(in my opinion): Bacon Jammin Biscuits — essentially just a fancy chicken biscuit, but it’s SOMUCHMORE. Would choose this over Whataburger’s honey butter chicken biscuit any day(sorry, Whataburger) Krabby Patty — another jazzed-up version of a classic favorite: the spider hand roll! I’m convinced they put crack in the batter. Just get it; you won’t regret it. Chicken Karaage — fried chicken with corn — tbh I can’t remember much about this one, but it was good enough to be above the ones listed below… Kakuni Burrito — lol I ordered this thinking I could finish this in one sitting. It’s bigger then a Chipotle burrito! This is one of their more popular dishes, but I was a little overwhelmed with all the ingredients… it was hard to appreciate the whole thing. Hot Mess Fries — I feel like these«asian inspired» fries are everywhere now, and Muiishi does it right. The fries are extra crispy and the sauce: fries ratio is perfect. Shrimp n Grits — I think this would have been better if we had ordered fewer dishes(whoops) — we couldn’t handle the richness, so we ended up tossing most of it. I’m not sure if they’ve discontinued the mac n cheese egg rolls? It was crossed off the menu =( Their location varies day to day, so I would suggest following them on facebook and/or twitter to find out where they’re parked for the day.

Muiishi Makirritos came to my job the first week I started and I was so excited because I finally get to eat there! I attempted to at the food truck festival but the line was so long and now I know why. I ordered the swaggy dog roll which came out with 2 very delicious hand rolls with lightly fried shrimp, fried corn, fresh cabbage, and perfectly soft and sticky sushi rice. The spicy mayo they served it with was nice and bold garnished with green onions. I would defintely like to try the other menu items they have on this wonderful truck especially the soft shell crab roll and chicken karage.

I’ve probably frequented this truck more often than any other one in Houston thanks to the days when I spent my time studying at Inversion. The food here was inventive(many of their dishes incorporate their 24 hour sous vide pork belly), but always a little underwhelming, and not the most wallet-friendly. Also, the wait for food always took a while. Swaggy dog: Good. The tempura shrimp was nicely breaded and very crisp; it provided good textural contrast to the rice and nori. This was definitely the most successful dish I’ve had here. Chicken karaage: Pretty good. There was a lot of spicy aioli, so it was hard to ascertain what the chicken actually tasted like, but the dish was fatty, and I liked it. Shrimp ‘n’ grits: Okay. I’ve had better shrimp and grits, and they weren’t served in a tiny styrofoam bowl. The texture of the tempura shrimp just didn’t quite work with the mushy grits. The pork belly and 62 degree egg were nice touches, but the cucumber definitely does not belong in this dish. Kakuni roll: Mediocre. I love pork belly, but there is way too much fat in this roll. The companion creamy cilantro sauce was tasty on its own, but it just added to the over-the-top richness.

Muiishi Makirritos was at the Japanese Festival this weekend and I’ve begun to come to the conclusion that food trucks have better food than vendors at festivals. I tried their fried pork bunz which were fantastic. I’ve had steamed buns before and we all know everything is better fried so there you go. Two fried pork belly buns with fresh cucumber and scallions. Delicious! My friend got pork belly buns from another location and they weren’t comparable. The pork belly was great but a tad too fatty for my taste. I know pork belly is supposed to be fatty but hey what can I say. I’ll have to come back to try the jammin’ chicken biscuits and one of their burritos!

Muiishi Makirritos was an interesting truck to try. I phoned them this morning while in Houston to find their location and by great luck it was at Houston Japan Festival. Nice phone service. Was going there anyway. Enjoy photos. What was interesting about their food is that trucks can often be over-rated. The fried chicken was quite nice, sushi roll(surprising they can make something like it from a tiny kitchen) was typical American style roll with colorful sauces. It’s overpriced for sure, when considering that you can enjoy air conditioning and seating with similar quality American rolls and sit down and relax instead of standing out in the sun. Was nice to catch what I thought was a Mexican /Japanese Fusion Truck(As per their name and logo), only to find that’s it’s American style just from a truck with pretty colors from the paint to the sauces. Friendly staff and a great unique menu.(They were serving less than half of the menu at Japan Festival).

At 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, Muiishi Makirritos was eemmppptttyyyy! The workers were hanging out in Wooster’s. Who could blame them? Being parked in front of a really nifty looking bar and sitting in a truck just staring at it would suck. But, I wasn’t complaining, there was no wait to order and no extra wait for the food! We opted for the Kakuni Burrito, the Pork Bunz, and the Hot Mess Fries –Kakuni Burrito; really really tasty. The flavors all melted together perfectly. That pork belly is just sooooooooo good. I appreciated that it wasn’t lacking in portions, either. It wasn’t a bare burrito, with layers of tortilla everywhere. It was huge, and stuffed. Definitely couldn’t eat an entire burrito, but I thoroughly enjoyed the half I did! –Pork Bunzzzzzzzzzzz; could’ve used more scallions, but that didn’t deter from the flavor. The only thing that killed my buzz was. the hair in one of them): Hence the missing one star. It was blonde, and shorter than my hair or my friend’s hair, so it definitely didn’t come from us. Just moved it and continued on my way. /shrug. It happens, but it’d be cool if it hadn’t. –Hot Mess Fries; the cilantro sauce on it really made the whole thing. I wish there had been more of it. Next time, I’ll just ask for more! There was a decent amount of beef on it, so yet again, good portion sizes. Not big on food trucks anymore, but I’m really curious about the sushi so I wouldn’t mind coming back!

FINALLY got to try this food while the truck was at Wooster’s. It took me way too long. Everything was so delicious! Rich, yet not heavy. Pork Bunz — kakuni pork belly, pickled cucumber, scallions Crabby patty — fried soft shell crab, kani kama, avocado, spicy aioli(think of a spider roll on steroids!) Jammin Bacon biscuits w/fried chicken — my god if I could get giant versions of these biscuits and eat them all day!!! Damn, I think I just made myself hungry again…

This food truck was one off the vendors that showed up at my church’s flic nic on the lawn event. My friends and I were thrilled because it was one of the food trucks that we have yet to catch. I never waited 1.5 hrs on line for a food truck but it was worth it! Swaggy dog sushi — shrimp tempura with a side of creamy siracha sauce 5⁄5 Kakuni roll — pork belly with a side green fresco chile sauce. 5⁄5 stars Karage chicken — mouth watering crispy breaded chicken drizzled with a creamy siracha and topped with crispy corn. The corn is AMAZING! 5⁄5 Macaroni egg roll — it comes in a set with the chile fresco sauce. It sounds strange to have macaroni and cheese in an egg roll, but it was surprisingly delicious. It’s worth the try even if you are ud usually not adventurous. 4⁄5 Karage burrito — breaded fried chicken in a rice burrito. Those were huge burritos. Good blend of flavors. This one was good but not my favorite. It was a little dry, perhaps a little creamy siracha would help. 4⁄5 Despite the crazy long lines, the staff were really nice and did not show a hint of frustration. Love their attitudes. I hope to catch them again!

I’ve been after this truck for months to try their Mac and cheese egg rolls, and try them we did! Egg rolls and their bacon jam in biscuits — sweet baba Jesus were they delicious!!! Ok the wait was painfully long, they seemed to be giving food out to bigger groups and leaving the food traffic at the truck wait longer, so my other food got cold. But the food itself was nom-tastic. The egg rolls were the perfect balance of wrapper and filling, the filling was creamy and full of flavour, 2 for $ 5. The bacon jammin 3 for $ 5 were so amazing we faught over the remaining one. Can’t wait to try more from this truck!
