Wow — I ate here this weekend and had a phenomenal meal. This is one of my new favorite spots in Houston. The owner, George, took great care of us and made recommendations on what to order. The food is cooked in a traditional greek oven, which really locks in the flavor. Prices are very reasonable and it’s great value. I recommend the hummus, papa poulaki chicken, and milk custard dessert. The food will really blow you away! If you have a chance to meet the owner George, I highly recommend talking with him for a few minutes. I was really impressed by him. His love for serving excellent food and providing an outstanding experience to the customer really shines through. Five stars! By the way, the hours on Unilocal are wrong. Check the hours on their website. They’re open M-F for lunch and dinner, in addition to all day Saturday.

This is truly a one of a kind place. The service and food were world class. If you like authentic Greek food then go here! George took care of us, explained a few Greek myths, and treated us like family. I will not soon forget about my evening at Myth Kafe.

What an amazing hole in the wall, random, odd, and FANTASTIC night time dinner spot! We walked here from Main St. because we were hungry. The person cooking, was the same person serving, and the same person bussing the tables. He seemed rude at first and sat us down a table that was not set and only brought out for half of the table. It was … odd. He came by to get our order and his personality changed. It seems that he was running the place and maybe just short handed that evening. Once he came to take our order and was able to take a deep breath, he was awesome! Just a Greek guy hanging out in his own restaurant with people he knew visiting his kitchen. It’s BYOB which is great. Let me tell you how much I dislike Mediterranean region foods. Myth Kafe was AMAZING! Thei Hero Gyro was sooooo flavorful and and the pita was fluffy, crispy, and moist!!! Yes, it is possible. Their magic fries are delicious. Their hummus and cheese plate was delicious. Their fish was delicious. Their magic potatoes were delicious. We really enjoyed our experience here. By the end of the night, we felt like we were guests in his house. We will definitely be coming back soon and bringing all of our friends.

I ordered delivery from here and it came in about 45 mins. I live about .5 miles from here so it came in an average time. I ordered the poluki and the magic fries. You can choose the poluki to be either breast, leg, or both. I chose breast. The chicken was good! Pretty tender and good flavors. The potatoes it came with were a little too drenched in lemon sauce. I wish the dish held back on the lemon flavor, think it would be loads better. What I really enjoyed were the magic fries. The spices in the crispy fries was very tasty. I didn’t quite care for the taziki sauce. It’s kind of like sour cream with olive oil.

Okay, so the food is good here but it sure is hard to locate, especially at nighttime. My sis and I popped in here several weeks back and drove around the block a couple of times only to realize on the second pass that the entrance is not actually on Jefferson Street itself but«around back». My advise it to take the first right after your GPS tells you where the spot SHOULD be — I think that street would be Hamilton — and then hang another right on St. Joseph’s Pkwy and then loop around and park in the back. Once you enter the lot, you will see Myth Kafe sign in white with blue lettering. The gyros are of decent size and very tasty. We got the beef and the lamb and were satisfied with both of them. The«Magic» fries don’t need ketchup and if you ask for any, you may get stared to death by your server. Okay, maybe he’ll just brag that they’re so good you won’t need ketchup(which is what our server did when I made the mistake of asking). Alas, I’d caution you to eat them as soon as they come out and are served piping fresh, hot, and crispy. Sadly, because we took our order to go, ours was none of those, so we weren’t as in love with the fries as we otherwise might have been. Pricing isn’t bad and it’s close to the St. Joe’s Hospital, giving you another dining option nearby if you work there or are visiting someone there. It’s only a couple of blocks to walk over from the easternmost buildings of the hospital but I’d make sure you pinpoint on a map where it is before you hike on over. It’s bad enough to miss it while you’re driving and will be even less fun if you’re on foot. I’d come back and check out other dishes but I’d probably stay and dine in.

What an experience. We went in to order Togo and were greeted with smiles and warm greetings. They recommended lots of things from which I ordered all that was recommended. they were all so delicious. Hummus full of flavor. Gyro tender and moist. Just know they were all wonderful and I will be returning here in the near future.

Summary– Decent greek food, a little odd brunch menu when we went need to go back to try regular service. Food– 4 Stars As mentioned when we went it was a brunch menu. The primary items were Greek theme’d crepes. They were good but a bit of an odd combination of flavors. The Gyro meat also didn’t appear to be homemade which was a bit disappointing. Service– 4 Stars Nice, friendly, timely. They were pretty much empty though, so I can’t judge how it would be when busy. Value– 4 Stars Lots of food for the money.

Great place that we never knew existed and we live right down the street! My boyfriend got the Orpheus with fries and it was DELICIOUS! I loved the fries because they were seasoned in such a mouth watering way! Very friendly workers as well

This review is only regarding delivery, I haven’t visited the restaurant itself yet. I don’t love delivery minimums since I was just getting dinner for myself and I didn’t need $ 25 worth of food, but I just ordered sides to eat later so all is not lost. My main dish was The Orpheus — marinated chicken, tomatoes, onion and tzatziki in a pita — and it was perfection. Not overly seasoned, not too many veggies, just the right amount of(phenomenal) tzatziki sauce holding it together. I got the side salad(an extra $ 3 instead of fries but I had to meet my minimum) which is being saved for later but it LOOKS fresh and crisp. The sides of tzatziki and hummus were amazing. Like, some of the best tzatziki I’ve ever had. They give you pita triangles to dip, and there is a whole lot to go around. There was not a single bite of anything in this meal that I didn’t enjoy, and I don’t say that lightly. This place is pretty close to my apartment and delivery still took an hour but man oh man will I be ordering from here again.

Had a very average meal with extraordinary waiting for a plate of hummus that had little favor beyond the olive oil drizzle. Orders took over 30 minutes to come out. I asked for«magic fries» as an appetizer and the waiter/owner did not mention that fries came with the gyro I ordered at the same time. The«magic fries» were thicker, but both orders of fries had been fried so long that there was absolutely no moisture left in the potato. I did eat most of them, but I was also really hungry and afraid to ask for anything difference since I’d waited so long already. The gyro meat was pretty good & tasty, but there was very little of it in the very thick pita. It was my second visit, both times in the evening. The place is is an office building and I’d bet during the day things are much better. If you eat there they offer free parking while you go Toyota Center — but the sidewalks are so old they might as well not be there in some places and it is way too dark for comfort at night.

When my wife told me there was a Greek restaurant in downtown and I drove right by it on my way home from work, I thought surely she was mistaken. Nope! It’s there! It’s there and it’s really cool. It’s location doesn’t seem that desirable to me, but what do I know? They are making it work. It’s off the street and on the far side of the building. Without gps telling where to turn in, I wouldn’t have ever found it. Went in for brunch, limited brunch only menu was available. I recommend the Greek iced coffee. Awesome hand painted mythical creatures painted on the walls. Very cool place with an even cooler vibe. Our server was fantastic and our food came out very quickly. I will be back soon to try the lemon chicken.

Myth Kafe is definitely not the easiest place to find but well worth the search! So don’t give up! The staff are really amazing and welcoming. The décor and artwork is pretty cool! This restaurant is perfect for families(big or small), couples, or a group of friends. I would recommend starting with the Mezze Platter! The freshly made hummus, tzatziki, and feta served with delicious toasted pitas was amazing! I could have eaten two platters! They are known for the Papa Poulaki, the chicken was moist and had a pleasant lemon-herb sauce served with rosemary potatoes, don’t get me wrong the dish was good but honestly the Arnadiko was amazing! The marinated lamb had so much flavor and the Greek rice made the meal complete(I would definitely recommend trying this meal). Overall, the atmosphere was laid back and relaxed and we left with our stomachs full all within a very reasonable price! Myth Kafe is like finding a needle in a haystack but well worth every minute of the search!

At first I thought the rave reviews were a myth because I couldn’t find the restaurant! I started to blame Apple maps, but did a loop around and saw what looked like a possibility of a Greek Restaurant. We arrived around 630ish on a Friday night. It was pretty empty. I was kind of confused. where were all the 5 start Unilocal reviews coming from??? The place was kind of quirky, the language on the menus was entertaining since there’s «no fakey stuff» and the«magic fries» take time or something like that. Service was slow, but the menu tells you to engage in conversations with who you’re with so we played along. The owner took our order and gave some recommendations. WORTHTHEWAIT. The hero gyro was reasonably priced and I loved how thinly sliced everything was. Each bite had a perfect balance of ingredients. The magic fries were pretty tasty too. Both regular fries and magic come with the herb seasoning, but the magic ones are more like natural cut fries and regular ones are similar to smash fries from smashburger. By the time were almost done with our meal, the place was packed so we pretty much beat the rush(phew!). We will be coming back out, just make sure you have a little extra time if you’re dining in!

Came here right before going a concert over at the Bayou Music Center, and I’m so glad we did. It’s a little difficult to find the first time since the restaurant doesn’t face the street, but it means there”s so much parking in front of it! It was pretty empty when we walked in and weren’t really sure what to do as it was our first time — we were told to just sit down. Eventually the owner came over and greeted us, bringing water and menus. I had decided to get a gyro when he came back to take our order and suggested the lemon and herb chicken and potatoes. I flipped my decision to that immediately, and I’m so glad I did. My food was fabulous. It tasted so homey and amazing and this has pretty much shot its way to the top of my Greek food cravings restaurant list. While the service is a little slow, the food definitely makes up for it. It seems to be a two man show, at least on the day I went. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant was starting to fill up a bit more. I hope they continue to grow in success because food was spectacular. All the tables are round 4-top tables, so if you’re going with a big group it’s not the most ideal.

Came through on Sunday. They were running a short crêpe menu vs a la carte. At first I was disappointed about this, after getting my plate I went from meh to wow. I had a crêpe filled with amazing fresh creamy feta, tomatoes, red onions and kalamata olives! My meal mates were just as impressed with their meals.

Being a good… err, I mean, great friend that I am, when one of my friends was celebrating his birthday, I offered to take him out for a birthday dinner. Since he knows that I like trying out new places, he actually wanted to go somewhere that he’d enjoy but would at the same time provide me with a new experience. Well, he’s Greek so naturally he picked this little place that I’d never heard of in the East side of downtown. After hearing his suggestion; I, of course, looked this place up on Unilocal.Imagine my surprise that this place already had 100+ reviews with an almost perfect rating! Imagine how more surprised I was that none of my favorite Unilocalers had written a review for this place and these people have been EVERYWHERE! My first though? Great pick! Getting here is tricky. The restaurant is located inside an office building on Jefferson and Chenevert. Although the address says Jefferson, that’s really the address for the office building. The restaurant itself is on the other side of Jefferson facing St. Josepth parkway and the entrance to the parking lot is located on Chenevert. So, if you’re driving down Jefferson coming from downtown, you’ll have to get on the I-69(don’t you just love this interstate number??) feeder and then get back on St. Joseph and bust a right on Chenevert and the fenced lot will be on your left hand side. Gotta love all this one-way streets in downtown, right? There’s a singe outdoor table right outside the restaurant entrance if you preferred to dine outside. However, you’d miss out on all the wall drawings inside the restaurant. Upon entering, one of the co-owners(George, I think was his name?) greeted us and sat us down at a table by a Minotaur drawing. The ambiance of the restaurant is less than my liking because it had an office-space kind of feel with super high ceilings on those bright T8/T12 lightings, but all the drawings on the wall made up for it. The co-owner was the ONLY person serving the whole restaurant. He was the host, the server, the busboy, and the cashier. However, this didn’t take away from the experience. As I had mentioned before, the restaurant was far from a full house and even though there were a few tables with big parties(8+ people) in the restaurant, he came back plenty to check up on us. But I’m guessing the fact that he and my friend were Greek and conversed in Greek helped a little bit as well. I never had to worry about filling up my glass of water because each table was provided with a cold bottle of water so you can refill your water yourself. Looking at the menu, it’s not as extensive as Niko-Niko or Theo’s. Three wrinkled up pages on a clipboard with your choice of appetizers, gyros, entrees, and desserts. We decided to start with the Village salad and some tzatziki that came with pita breads. For our entrees, my friend decided on the Papa Poulaki based with a side of Mystic Potatoes, on the recommendation of the co-owner; his wife decided to go with the lamb gyro(Arnaki) with a side of Myth Magic Fries, and I decided to go with the Biftekara with a side of Mystic Potatoes, also based on the recommendation of the co-owner. The food didn’t take long to come out. I wasn’t sure what to expect with my beef patties, but those beef patties on my plate sure looked delicious. They were soft to cut, and when I took a bite. Well, let me just tell you that my mouth was bursting with flavors! Imagine eating some beef meatball, but better with rich, delicious flavors. They were also very tender and despite the menu saying that you’d be getting two«small beef patties», they were pretty good sized. The Mystic Potatoes were also very good. The combination of lemon and rosemary and however them potatoes were cooked was just nom nom nom nom nom. For dessert, we were going to go with the Stolen Chocolate Pie but they were all out of it so we went with the«Suitcase-In-A-Dream» which is a more traditional Greek dessert and it was awesome. Not to sweeet, not too rich, but just enough. My friend mentioned that that’s how Greek desserts are supposed to be. The only downside? As of 7÷4÷2015, this place didn’t have a liquor license. I’m not sure if they’re in the process of getting one, or if they’re not going to get one but dinner would have definitely been more awesome with some wine. Yes, I’ll be back. There are definitely other stuff on the menu that I’d love to try. You definitely should try this place out instead of keep going back to Niko-Niko. You can thank me later, but you’re welcome.

First, please note that Myth Kafe does not actually face Jefferson Street, but rather St. Joseph Parkway(the next street to the south). If you go to St. Joseph Parkway between Chenevert and Jackson and look to your north(which is the right, if you are driving on St. Jo’s), then you’ll see it. Second, there is free parking right in front of the restaurant. A rarity downtown! Third, the food is amazing. I loved the papa poulaki, which is a chicken dish served with their legendary«mystic» potatoes. Also, the hummus is a creamy garlicy delight, served with hot pita. And then holy hey-zeus, the chocolate cake was a fantastic finale. Finally, the service was very friendly. I will definitely return!

We stopped for lunch today. The location is near St. Joseph medical center. We ordered Papa Poulaki and beef gyro with fries. The place is cozy and comfortable with soft Greek music in the background. It takes you away from the heavy traffic. The chicken leg and potato were seasoned just right. My favorite was gyro, with tender slices of beef, onions, tzatziki, and pita was fresh. I finished most of the fries which had herbs including rosemary. Parking is near and you can also order for pickup online. Lunch does have less options than dinner. Lamb was available today. We plan to return on the weekend for lamb and dessert.

This little hole in the wall was an interesting place to go to. It was my first time ever coming here so the menu and Unilocal were my best friends. The menu was extremely difficult to read since it was hand written, let alone it was in cursive, so it was really hard to read. I resorted to Unilocal and I saw this dish I was interested in ordering. The picture showed some kind of beef cut meat with pita bread, so I showed the owner and he said he could try to do something similar. I guess he didn’t have the exact ingredients so I was ok with it. He then later brought out my plate and didn’t even announce what kind of meat he substituted in. It tasted like breakfast sausage to me, which I really am not fond of. I didn’t want to send it back since the owner was so sweet. My boyfriend ordered the lamb gyro ad he enjoyed it a lot. The complimentary hummus was also delicious! In all, I wasn’t happy with my plate due to the mystery meat. I really thought he would bring something out similar to beef or would have notified me before bringing it out.
