Occasion: Banh Mi fix Staff is blunt, funny, & quick Nguyen Ngo sells out often; be sure to call ahead and look up hours of operation Magic mayo sandwiches here are addicting and have me returning for the combination sandwiches, shredded chicken sandwiches, and the banh mi thit nuong(BBQ) with an egg. Add extra pâté & mayo & veggies These sandwiches are perfect with a chrysanthemum tea.

This is our favorite banh mi place! My personal favorite is the Xui Mai Banh Mi(Meatball) on croissant. Second favorite is the Banh Mi Thit Nuong(BBQ pork). Something about their meatball really sets them apart from other banh mi places and their croissants and French bread are unlike any other place. Their service is also phenomenal. Menu items are also customizable to your preferences, just let them They also sell Golden Pig Cracklins here and these are the !

Whats left to say. These guys are awesome. Best rice bowl in the Houston area. Banh Mi is great but skip the bread and get the rice box. Great food and excellent owners.

Great Vietnamese sandwiches for a pretty good price. About $ 4 for a sandwich but do yourself a favor and add a fried egg for $ 1. This isn’t Jimmy John’s so you’ll have to wait a little while to get your sandwich.

Best Vietnamese sandwich I’ve ever had, they will add an egg to the rib eye sandwich and and it’s just plain awesomeness. Some times it can get a little crowded at lunch time because it’s a small location but other than that this place is really really good.

I can say this is one of the best place for Vietnamese sandwich in NW Houston, but it now seems to has less portion of meat in it. I personally don’t like their pork BBQ. Nguyen Ngo 1 has better sandwich, more meat, and cost less compared to Nguyen Ngo 2.

I needed a quick and light lunch on the north side of town, so I ended up stopping here since they had such great reviews. My favorite place is Nguyen Ngo down south, so I figured this should be comparable… but frankly it just didn’t cut it. I ordered the chicken pâté banh mi… the chicken was pretty tough… like it was overcooked or not fresh… I don’t know… I just didn’t like it. Sandwich was like $ 3.75 plus tax… where in Bellaire it’s just a flat $ 3.50. Service was quick and place is small and quaint. It has a very weird entrance from the street though…

The place is a real gem. I have never been disappointed while dining here or taking out. The dining area and restrooms are always clean and there is usually sports on the tv. :) every sandwich is straight desserts are legit too!

Came in and ordered 2 sandwiches to eat in and 3 to go. When we tasted the pan seared pork belly with fried egg added, we ordered 3 extra to go. It was SO good. They did not skimp on the meat or veggies and the family secret mayo was… just… oh lawd! The two guys up front were the owners — great service and very friendly — gave a quick history on the business and family history. Love that! Will def try to be back before I head back to Philly.

Absolutely love this place ! By far the best banh mi!!! Lex is s great guy always taking care of his customers and very accommodating. I’ve also had banh mi catered for a party and it was great ! He helped me with the selections and how many to get and so forth. Always so helpful and kind. Can never go wrong here ! I always recommend to my friends Bc it’s just so good! I rant and rave about this place all the time. It’s our place to go on Sunday’s with the kids after church and it’s just so refreshing! Keep up the great work and now you will always have a long time returning customer !!!

Best banh mi in the H! I wish I was in this area more so I could come here more often. Don’t let the outside fool you, it’s modern and updated on the inside. All the employees are super nice and service is always on point.

The service here is chill. It’s always the same guy that takes my order and he’s pretty cool. I usually order the french combo croissant. I really like that the croissant is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwich is just heavenly. The veggies are fresh and I absolutely love the chicken. I also always get a bag of the sugared bread. I love that its a combo of salty and sweet. Overall experience: I would like to give this place 4.5 stars. I actually prefer the location in bellaire and think the banh mi there is more flavorful, but Nguyen Ngo is definitely the best when it comes to banh mi in Houston.

I come usually every Sunday to get my morning banh mi before work. I’m sure they have my order memorized by now. The iced coffee is excellent and the prices aren’t ridiculous like vina bakery. They also let you order over the phone if you don’t like to wait for the food.

Great service. Fast and efficient. Awesome grilled pork. Fantastic. They also made a gluten allergy accommodation with no French bread.

I took a break from Unilocaling but this place was so horrific that I had to post a review. On the outside, it looks very run downed but once you go in its actually pretty nice and remodeled. The cashier was friendly unlike the original Nguyen Ngo down bellaire and that was about it. I think the place down bellaire taste wayyy better than here. I was so disappointed with my banh mi cha lua. The only the good was the pâté. Other than that it was $ 7.50 for 2 banh mi that only had TWO pieces of meat inside. I was like are you serious!!! It’s suppose to have at least 5 – 6 slices. The pickled carrot wasn’t even pickled. The mayo was ok but a bit bland. Everything was just. Blah. Will definitely never return

It might not look like much from the outside, but step inside to find the best banh mi, and quite honestly one of the best all around sandwiches in the greater Houston area. The bread is perfect, soft on the inside with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. If you’re a first timer, the owner Lex will be behind the counter happy and ready to give you suggestions. My favorite is the meatball with sausage, followed closely by the French combo and the ribeye with grilled onions and a fried egg. My suggestion would be to try one of each. Lex buys his bread fresh in limited quantity every day so get there early or they could run out. This is not your typical Vietnamese sandwich, but in this case, that is a very good thing. Stop in for yourself and find out how this hidden gem totally lives up to the well deserved hype. You’ll be glad you did.

I went there a while back and had their pork banh mi with fried egg, it was delish. I ordered a few of the original sandwiches to go and they were okay, nothing special. I have to say the have some«fancier» options when it comes to fillings for the banh mi sandwiches and those are the ones definitely worth a try.

I absolutely love this place. I grew up eating Vietnamese sandwiches and have had them in several different parts of TX and New England and was not a huge fan of them. That was before I was invited to come eat here(thanks babe!). During the first 4 – 5 months after I discovered this gem, I was up here every weekend… I live in Southwest so it took me a good 30 – 45 minutes to get here, BUT totally worth the drive. The shop is clean, the staff are friendly, the service is excellent and the flavors are consistent! I’ve had so many ‘banh mi’s’ where the bread would just tear apart the roof of my mouth. The bread at NN2 is toasted JUST right. My top favorite sandwich here would have to be the meatball and the ribeye steak sandwich is a close second. Their veggies are extremely fresh and I always crave extra mayo & pâté! I want to mention that it’s always a good idea to come earlier in the day before 4:00. They are known to sell out! :)

Probably the best banh mi in the Northside next to Hong Kong Market. Its the usual spot I go to whenever I’m visiting the in-laws. I usually get the vietnamese combo with an egg and a side of Kim Chi. Its delicious! The bread is a bit airy and they don’t toast the bread as crispy as I like it. So you may have to ask them toast it longer if you like that crunch. The pickled carrots and daikon are perfect as well. They don’t use spears of jalepeno like other places. They cut them in circular slices so be careful eating a seed or two. It’s spicy! They have good service as well!

I am a big fan of banh mi and this place is rocking a great sandwich! I have been in some pretty scary places that were set up Subway style with the ingredients and toppings in front of you that look kind of questionable. This place was clean and I can’t say enough how appreciative I was for the friendly, patient service! The first time I visit a place I tend to get that deer in the headlight look, especially when presented with so many choices and someone in line behind you. It didn’t matter. The menu was thoroughly explained to me and some popular combination choices were pointed out on the wall. I went with seared pork belly, a fried egg, and all the veggies including jalapeños. It was fantastic! The balance of flavors was perfect, I didn’t feel the need to drown it with sriracha. The bread was toasty and the veggies were fresh. My favorite part was taking a bite and having the egg yolk drip into the pork belly. I think next time my boys might get extra meat since they are teens and never seem to get full. For me, it was perfect the way it was served. Banh mi is not all about meat. It’s the way everything comes together for a perfect bite.

I don’t know what I did to upset my boss, but I was put on assignment out here in Siberia one morning. With a Target store as the only indication of civilization in sight, I was at a loss at what to do for sustenance. Thankfully, I didn’t have to eat my leather shoes as my trusty Unilocal app found that Nguyen Ngo 2 was one of the only places around here open at 9 a.m. The storefront photo makes this place look like a cell phone store turned sandwich shop, but it had five stars, so why the heck not? Don’t judge a book by the dilapidated strip center it’s in. The moment I stepped inside, I was taken aback by how tidy the place was. Clean counter, laminate flooring, painted walls and globular ceiling lights. Their menu looked pretty standard: BBQ pork, chicken, rib eye, meatball. WAIT, WHAT? RIBEYE? I had to try it for its novelty if not for my love of red meat. The damage was $ 5.50 and I threw in an extra buck to have a fried egg with my steak for breakfast. As with any sandwich, the bread can make or break it. NN2’s baguette was fluffy on the inside, but mine could have been toasted a little longer as the crust was still soft. I’ll overlook that since it’s an easy fix. The steak itself was okay, but when its jus intermingled with the mayo-butter spread… THAT is when the magic happened. For lack of a better description, it turned into crack in gravy form. I probably won’t be back anytime soon solely because this place is far from my neck of the woods(one could say it’s in my ankle of the woods?). Alas, ’tis better to have loved and lost than never to have eaten a crack gravy rib eye Vietnamese sandwich at all.
