Nom Mi Street ruined my afternoon of healthy strolling at hermann park by tempting me with its Nom Mi fries! They called out to me offering free samples of their BBQ pork, and how could I resist? Especially since I’ve been meaning to try this truck :). The bf and I had eaten lunch already, but we still wanted to try their fries, so we got a small one with pork. We also had a sample of the beef, which was yummy too. But when we asked if they could do half and half meat for our fries, they said they couldn’t(not sure why…). The fries were good but was a pretty small portion for the price($ 8). The upgrade to the large is only $ 2 more, which is probably more worth it, but dang! $ 10 for fries? That’s pretty steep, even for a food truck. I think they raised their prices significantly since they opened. A banh mi here is $ 7!(Compare to $ 2.50 at Les Givrals) I’m sure the food here is good, but I don’t know if they can justify the price for it. You can get banh mi and similar fries for much less elsewhere.

Honestly their food isn’t all that great, pales in comparison to something like Givral’s or even Hughies’; coupled with downright ridiculous pricing they’re better skipped in lieu of ordering take out from a brick and mortar restaurant. $ 8 for 4 small egg rolls, yeah right…

I love their tacos! I usually order the pork and beef. I guess it might be a little overpriced, but I think it’s worth it. It’s my favorite food truck without a doubt. The people here are very friendly, too! If you have yet to eat here, this is a must-try for people who like Asian fusion foods.

Best food truck at the Urban Harvest Farmers Market. My go-to place on Weds for lunch at work. Karen and Lam are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I have had the hashbrown melt, banh mi, nom mi fries all are extremely delicious. Get here early because the line is LONG which is expected. I switched to a later lunch so I avoid the long lines. They are at the farmers market from 11 – 130 on Weds.

I saw these guys at the HEB montrose parking lot and they were the friendliest truck on a chilly night and the only one to give out free samples. With those two selling points, I felt I should give them a shot on customer service alone. I only ordered a small fries with beef, and the fries are just skinny frozen ones, but the overall dish had really great flavor. For this type of fries, I think its almost necessary to use frozen instead of fresh cut to retain texture. The fries are a little steep at $ 8.50 after tax, so it’s a little higher than I’m used to paying. I’m guessing the large fries would be nearly $ 10. I’d still come back to try other items, like the quesadillas that look delicious.

Wow I had a sample of their barbecue pork and it was outstanding. Unfortunately since they’re going the fusion route, they decided to douse their tacos with unnecessary sauce, perhaps to appeal to more Western tastes. This is so unfortunate as it completely masks whatever I was trying to eat. I had one tofu taco and one pork taco. Tofu taco is no good, but pork taco would’ve been excellent – they both tasted the same because of that sauce. The sauce was very heavy handed and just really took away from the protein quality. I also paid $ 8+ for two tacos which is a crime within itself. If I pay that much I better be receiving some premium, flawless tacos. Maybe this isn’t my style but with great protein cooked like that, they should’ve let it do all the talking on its own with minimal additions to highlight the flavors. If they had done a cilantro lime sauce to go with the pork, it might’ve been much better. On the upside though service was extremely fast, faster than any food truck I’ve ordered from.

After my jog at Hermann park, I decided to journal for a bit and as I prepared to depart the park I noticed the Nom Mi Street food truck. I walked over to view their menu to see if there were any yummy vegetarian options. I was greeted by Karen and Lam who were extremely welcoming and friendly. They pointed out their vegetarian opyions, provided a tofu sample and recommended their best seller, the quesadilla. The quesadilla was an EXCELLENT recommendation! It had fried tofu, shredded carrots, lettuce, cilantro, fantastic house sauce, & cheese. Half of the quesadilla was filling. I highly recommend checking them out… their menu has options for carnivores as well *smile* Karen and Lam, I will definitely be back!

WOW! I finally got a chance to try it out for lunch in downtown(800 Polk Street). The service was quick. I got the Melted Hash Brown(5⁄5) — OMG, the hash brown were crispy and fluffy. The pork, sauce and seasoning were on point!

Nom Mi Street was at the downtown farmer’s market, which is what made me try them. I’ve been tired of following food trucks so this was a great surprise as I’ve been wanting to try them. Got the Nom mi fries with pork. I was also able to ask them to add kimchi on it as well. The food came pretty fast for the line they had, which was a plus. The fries and meat were delicious! Packed full of flavor that I ate everything. Think it’s better than the Korean food trucks loaded fries especially since I can add kimchi on it as well.

This place deserves all 5 the stars on Unilocal! Why? Because they make quick and tasty Viet-food. The Banh Mi and quesadilla are my favorite go-to items on their menu. I can’t rave enough about the beef quesadilla — it is bursting with flavors and textures: you have sweet, spice, crunch and tender beef meat, all in one bite! I highly recommend this — seriously. Also great is their Banh Mi. The sandwich has a great balance – the bread and veggies pack a crunch, the viet mayo is on point(I’ve heard it’s homemade… extra brownie points!!), and they give a great proportion of meat. Next up, the service is great. The chef is friendly and loves getting to know us customers. The turn-around time for my food was very FAST — this was surprising seeing the lines here. A hidden gem in the HTX.

One of my favorite food trucks in Houston– it definitely helps that I am obsessed with Vietnamese food and flavors, but Nom Mi really takes the cake in comparison to other Banh Mi places with the quality and flavor of their meet– it’s amazing. Everyone always asks me what I’m eating and how they can get some, it smells so outright good. If you are into loaded fries, similar to Oh my Gogi or Koreanos– You must try Nom Mi’s, especially with the BBQ Pork. I’m not expert enough to point out the differences in Viet vs. Korean BBQ– but I would say what Nom Mi serves tastes better than the aformentioned two, when it comes to flavor.

Nom Mi was such a happy addition to the UH campus — where food options can be pretty underwhelming! The tofu bahn mi was delicious — such a great treat to pick up between classes — and you don’t have to risk losing your parking spot! Lots of vegetarian options!

I’ve had Nom Mi Street before but checked them out again at a food truck festival at Hughes Hangar. They were giving out free samples of their BBQ pork which was a nice touch. We went with their Nom Mi Fries which come with cilantro, house sauce, and a whole other mix of sauces with beef. Great dish, the meat is well seasoned, sauce is delicious, and the fries are fries. We also had one of their specials that day a hash brown melt with pork, egg, and a mix of sauces including their house sauce and sriracha. Never had an Asian-style hash brown so that was a treat!

Tasty food. Very popular and lines can get long. I have passed by this food truck for a few weeks at the downtown Farmers Market, but never tried it, as the line looked way too long. This food truck, Mélange Creperie and the Churrasco Truck always have the longest lines. Plan early. We arrived about 11:20 and stepped into a line of about 10 people. The menu consists mainly of tacos and nachos with choice of meat, including tilapia. They also normally have Bahn Mi sandwiches, but they were not offered for some reason. A woman in line told me that they can’t because another food truck at the farmers market offers them. Not sure if that was true or not, and I have no idea who the other vendor would be. Anyway, I also saw NMS offers a salmon burger, so I tried it. NMS calls it «Salmonlicious». The salmon meat was not a frozen-formed patty like the kind you buy at Costco, but was a square-cut, thick slice from a filet. The salmon had a glaze on it, and was delicious with the pretzel bun. Cajun fries came with the sandwich, but were just regular fries with Cajun salt sprinkled on them. We only had to wait about 10 minutes until we arrived at the front of the line and ordered. After ordering, my coworkers had to wait 5 minutes for their foods, which were beef nachos and chicken tacos. I had to wait an additional 5 minutes for mine, but that salmon was worth the wait. Don’t be scared by the line. I do want to return and try the tilapia tacos next time.

I usually order the nom mi fries(w/added egg), pork/beef quesadilla, and pork banh mi with egg on top. You can’t go wrong with any of those. I think it’s their house sauce that really enhances everything. Their foods are always fresh and their customer service is always consistently good and friendly. I will say that their prices are a bit steep(~$ 5 – 7 for a banh mi, almost ~$ 10 for a quesadilla) but given that they’re inside the loop, I guess they can get away with it. Despite that, I’m fine with paying a bit extra when I’m craving good, fresh Vietnamese fusion food while I’m on campus(at UH).

Glad this food truck made its way to the Kite Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre, although the lines were redic The NOMMIFRIES was a crispy surprise filled with savory(vietnamese beef, nom mi sauce), spicy(sriracha sauce), and sweet accents(can’t remember what made it sweet, but it was subtle and not too overpowering)! I also liked the CHICKENQUESADILLAWITHSRIRACHASAUCE. The mexi-viet fusion worked pretty well, but it was probably more viet tasting wrapped in a mexican package. I wasn’t too fond of the CHICKENQUESADILLAWITHPEANUTBUTTERSAUCE. Maybe I need to try it one more time, but it ended up having a really tangy aftertaste that wasn’t my thing. We seriously waited almost an hour and 20 mins for food, but I ended up being extremely satisfied, and want that satisfaction again!
