The vets and staff were sweet and knowledgeable. You can tell they love what they do. The wait time was about 3 hours, but that was expected because of how AMAZING their prices are. The building could use an update, but overall my experience was wonderful!

Hands down THE BEST PLACE that you can take your fur baby! My family and I have been taking our babies here for years because the service is consistent and the prices are more than reasonable. You’ll end up paying a portion of what you’d expect to pay at other pet clinics.
First things first, this place isn’t your everyday definition of pretty, it’s kinda old and outdated but once you get past that you’ll be alright. (And grow up people, it’s a PET CLINIC-​there are bound to be potty accidents, most of the animals are scared and/​or nervous to be there so cut them some slack!) This place definitely isn’t a city secret either, if you’ve ever tried to be an early bird to get there as soon as they open, then you’ve seen how people line up on the street to be let in.
As mentioned, no place in Houston can beat their prices. Some of the standard costs are:
*$ 15 Office Visit
*$ 5 Nail Trim
*$ 30 Heart worm Test
*$ 20 – 28 for shots (rabies, parvo etc.)
Of course, if the vet prescribes your pup some meds then the prices vary, personally, I’ve paid anywhere from $ 5 – 20 for a prescription.
They offer many different types of heart worm prevention meds and meds for flea and tick prevention (Frontline, Advantix, Nexguard, Triflexis, Comfortis, etc.) Of course prices vary by pup weight (they do sell single month doses too!) If you just need to get your fur baby a refill of flea/​tick prevention you can simply walk in and go to the front counter and they will help you out. If you are needing a refill for Heart worm prevention, then you WILL need to sign in and wait for them to call you, since they’ve told me they see heart worm prevention as a prescribed medication.
They are open from 8a-​5p Mon, Tues, Wed, and Friday. They are only open Saturday from 8a-11:30a, and they are Closed Thursdays and Sundays. Getting there when they open can be helpful but it is ALWAYS PACKED. A few words of warning about parking. The main lot, since it’s small, has always been full each time I’ve gone but you can park on the side of Reid St. (it’s the street right behind the building) but make sure you park facing the right way and don’t block the fire hydrant because cops are ticket friendly in this area, and they will ticket you if you don’t park going the right way, and they will tow if you block a fire hydrant or a business drive way.
If you ever need to take your animal babies to get checked up, I highly recommend this place. Wait times do vary, sometimes I’ve been called within 10 minutes of signing in and sometimes I’ve waited for about an hour. It really depends how busy they are and how serious the case is that they are treating. Worth a shot and the drive if you don’t live near the area.
**Tip! Make sure to sign in and pay attention to your name because they will skip you lol

I read reviews of this place, I was a little skeptical, but I decided to come in. I went 4÷23÷16 (saturday) arrived at 7:50 was in line, I had at least 30 – 40 people ahead of me… I made it inside the building and signed in at 8:20 the place isn’t fancy, but it’s not dirty. I would give this place 5 stars but the problem was an employee was very disrespectful and rude. He even told someone «if you don’t like it here you can leave» I was shocked! Also, prepare to stay all day! I didn’t see the vet until 12pm! A wait was expected, but 4hrs was a long time!!! The price was amazing and the vet was very sweet and gentle. My dog did not cry with the shots, or anything else. I paid $ 111 which included the check up, vaccines, 2 months of a chewable flea preventative (which worked within 12 hours!!!) 2 antibiotics, and ear drops! Overall, I say if you have the time, go… My regular vet charges $ 96 just for a check up and vaccines. I’m pleased with my experience, just the employees should be a little nicer.

Amazing service ! I took a stray cat that I found last week in today. The wait was about an hour which is pretty good considering its first come first serve and it was a Friday afternoon. The vet tech that assisted me was great with the cat. The cat had mange and eye infection and ear mites. She received antibiotics, fluids, and medicine for all her issues and they even sent me home with meds. I only payed $ 85 which is great considering I payed $ 100+ at the corner vet only for them to tell me that the cat had mange and received no medications. Definitely will be coming back.

After visiting the awful Vergi ²⁴⁄₇ emergency room and them telling me that my pup Molly had not hope because she was diagnosed with Parvo, Vergi offered inpatient treatment for $ 500 a night or put my pup to sleep. Once i heard the options i cried we did not have the money to pay $ 500 a night, outpatient for $ 100 a day until she’s better or pup Molly to sleep. Parvo takes about 7 – 10 days that would have been $ 7,500 — $ 10,000! We decided to do outpatient and visit our vet the next day to continue with the shots. While the tech at Vergi was giving Molly her shots and liquids we asked about parvo and she was being so negative (I was already crying) she said that only 40% of dogs make it and did not give not one glimpse of hope. We paid $ 300+ dollars for the visit and shots. We woke up the next morning to Molly doing much worse, i told my husband the only other option was to put Molly to sleep since we didn’t want her to suffer. It was a tough decision. We arrived to Northloop Pet Clinic My eyes were swollen from crying, we told them we needed to put the pup to sleep the tech told us «you don’t want to try? she doesn’t look that bad» in my head i’m thinking well the tech at Vergi practically told us she was on her death bed. We asked how much the treatment fee would be, she said $ 300 it doesn’t matter how long it takes, we would have to pay $ 150 to leave her there and $ 150 when we pick Molly up. I was happy there was hope for Molly, my frown turned into a smile. We decided to keep here there a week later they called us to pick her up and she was back to her normal self, we just have to go back for a few check ups, one which was today, when the techs were petting her and saying how much better she was doing. We were so close to putting her down! Glad Northloop Pet Clinic gave me the option to save Molly! now she’s healed and back to her playful herself! My husband and i cannot thank you enough!

My dog is the most fragile dog ever. Since we had him he had rat poison, they saved him. He had swallowed a super ball, they had surgery on him. Then he had the auto immune problem. They cured him. Three times near death experience. First time cost me 25 dollars Second time was an open stomach surgery and x Ray and blood test with all meds Total around 600. Third time was blood test and pill prescribed. Around 150. I am grateful that they are offering such low cost of service. I know the wait is very long. And place is not fancy and pretty. But people work there have the soft heart for the animal. They didn’t try to break the arms and legs. They always give the lowest price I can find for a great service. Lots of people saying the place is shabby but come on you are not here to stay overnight. You are here for the service. Then why do you care how the office look like! Now we moved out of Texas, I can’t find this kinda of vets aren’t like gold digger anymore.

Great service and low prices as always!!! Love love love the guy at the front counter! These people really care about your fur babies! Get here early though…45 mins to an hour before they open… because everyone and their dog (or cat!) is going to be here too!

It’s only 4 stars because of the wait time, but it’s to be expected when the prices are that great! When staff does get to you, you have to keep in mind that there is an incredibly crowded room and that they are just trying to go as fast as they can.
Go on a day you have nothing planned. The prices really are AMAZING though, so it’s worth the wait.
DO NOT park in the establishment right a cross, they will tow!!!

Not helpful — don’t expect them to help you if you lose your pet and they can’t reach you.
Today my husband found a dog with this vet’s tags. He called the vet and got the owner’s phone number, which had a busy signal each time we called (they tried calling the owner too which is the only positive in this situation). I asked them if they could provide the address for the owner so that we could try to take the dog there, and they said no. I understand protecting private information, so I asked if they could take the dog to try to get it to the owner. Again, no. Then she told me to take the dog to the pound. It was an older dog and would most likely have been euthanized.
Not only should a vet’s priority be to help their customers, they should first and foremost be looking out for the animal’s safety and trying to get them home.
Thankfully, we were able to gain access to a databse where we searched the phone number and found the address associated with it. The dog made it home safe and sound to a family that was so grateful to get their dog back after he had been missing for two months — with no thanks to this clinic.

Prices reasonable. And that’s were it ends. They don’t take appts. I had to wait 3 hrs in a crowded dirty waiting room with dirty dogs and mostly dirty folks who didn’t speak English.
A couple of puppies shit on the floor. Took for ever to get somebody to clean it up all while various dogs stepped in it and spread it over the whole waiting room. A staff member announced that there were tape worms in the stool, loud enough for everybody to hear, while another showed up not with disinfectant but a regular mob and smeared it further. A classic comedy skit. The monkeys running the zoo!
My dog was there because this clinic was recommended as the best to fix my CORSO s cherry eye. The staff nor doctor gave a shit about the dog. Nobody recognized my dog as the patient. Nobody touched or petted the dog. Somebody, presumably the vet, stepped into the dirty shit hole were my dog and I were waiting for examination. She didn’t introduce herself. Spent 15 secs explaining the procedure, turned and walked out. I felt I was sitting in a busy bus depot.
On the day the surgery was planned I again had to sign in and wait. They didnt have the surgery scheduled and claimed it was on another day. Staff extremely rude. Male receptionist looked like a member of a motorcycle gang. I felt if I complaint I would get beat up.
I asked for my money back. The gave me half back without any apologies or attempt to make it right. I asked to speak to the vet, she refused, she sent the message that she was too busy.
Have never been to such a bad vet before. I normally get along with everybody. But I cannot entrust the life of my pet with such a horrible place.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. I went in at 1:30 & didn’t get seen til 5 minutes to 4 o’clock. Staff is friendly but are very VERY under staffed.

By far this is the BEST vet clinic in town. They actually care, and do whatever it take to ensure the best for your pet. The place is so hidden, and I love it!

After reading reviews on Unilocal,I drove to this place to have my puppy’s first round of puppy shots. I was more than pleased. It is a walk-​in clinic, no appointments, so I was expecting a wait. I was called within 10 minutes of arriving. The place is casual and relaxed. The people working there were professional, and genuinely friendly. The price for the shots was at least half what you’d pay elsewhere. It was a good, very good experience. I have found my new animal clinic!

First time visit, total cost: $ 20.00!
My new puppy has worms (saw them moving in her feces), so I freaked out and rushed her to this place! They were great! They welcomed my first visit, I didn’t wait too long and they answered ALL of my questions. So glad I found this place.

Took one of our Cats, Ginger in around end October 2014 and the drive from spring/​woodland area to the voice was well worth it.
Parking space is very tight, visibility/​signage for first– time visitors could be a challenge, but staff is great and prices are unbeatable.
Will return soon with my 2 boys, Rambo and Brownie for their annual visit etc.

have taken one dog here and a cat I’ve recued. The staff has always been super helpful, no appointments required just walk-​ins only which I think is great. I went once when it was empty, once when it was full but the wait wasn’t long at all. The best thing are the prices. They’re even cheaper than SNAP. The building is obscure and you could easily pass it up, but I like that about the place. No frills or frays, just directly to the point and affordable.

I can’t say enough about North Loop Pet Clinic. Please read my previous review regarding our beloved cat Bubba and the nightmare we endured at Kingsland Blvd. Animal Clinic in Katy. This is the follow-​up on what we did with Bubba.
So after two weeks of being treated for a urethral blockage we once again heard Bubba moaning under a bed. After speaking to Dr. Evil @ Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic & she again wanted to charge us her ridiculous and expensive fees of about $ 900 (which I of course declined) She didn’t even offer a discount being that she had just treated him 2 weeks prior. I decided to do some extensive research online and find an alternative place. Low and behold I came across some great reviews on North Loop Pet Clinic. It was clear across town but, that didn’t matter to me. All I wanted was our baby to get treated and not suffer for another second. I called as I was driving and they said they didn’t take appointments because it was a first come first serve kinda place. Ok, no problem I told them I was on my way. Upon arriving there I noticed quite a bit of cars parked outside this modest clinic. We walked in & were immediately greeted. We signed in and waited about 30 minutes for our name to be called. We had the pleasure of dealing with Dr. Mares. She was very sweet, a no nonsense kind of woman who explained in detail what was going on with Bubba. She said she would unblock him which would take a few minutes to do. She gave me the option to keep him overnight or not. That was only to see if it would happen again. I went ahead & opted to keep him there overnight and picked him up 24 hours later. Thankfully he was urinating just fine so, he was ready to go home. For his visit, overnight stay, pain medication, and a prescription for special diet food my bill came out to a total of $ 130. Yes, you read that right, $ 770 LESS than what Dr. Evil wanted at Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic. Bubba was taken care of and we didn’t have to go into debt over it. I now only take our animals here to see Dr. Mares! It’s clear that her heart is in the right place, she genuinely wants to help animals without charging people an arm & a leg. Thanks again & God bless you Dr. Mares!

My nephew went here to get an examination for his dog who’s eye had been injured. They came back and told him it would need to be removed which was as expected. Majority of our frustration comes from the fact that he was unable to pay for the surgery at this time so my husband and I agreed to do so. We live in Austin, the clinic is in Houston no biggie we will call and make the payment over the phone, take the dog in– done deal. WRONG. They absolutely refused to take any sort of payment over the phone, even with verification of identity sent via fax– nothing. The office manager decided to talk to me like I was stupid and tell me about Western Union and how they work. My bad for trying to assist a family member whose dog has lost a ton of weight after being stolen from the back yard, and then his eye was injured to the point of no return while in that persons possession. You all did a great job of stressing how important it was to get this addressed ASAP, and acting somewhat concerned.
I get the fact that people are dishonest and fraudulently use credit cards, but normally they are not willing to provide whatever verification you request. Thanks for not actually working with a young man who attempted to get financial help for his dogs surgery since he couldn’t afford it. Thank-​you all for making this traumatic and stressful situation even more stressful for all.

What a wonderful experience I just had.
I’ve been taking my 3 year old dog to Heights Hospital for Animals since he was a puppy. I love them, but they are way too pricey. I always felt it was worth it bc it’s by appointment only and it’s super clean.
However, I’ve now changed my mind. My grandma passed away and I’ve kept her year old dog, Bambi. She has always taken her pets to this vet including Bambi, so thought I’d bring him here for his shots.
Based on reviews, I was prepared for a long wait. Took only 40 mins to see a tech, not bad at all. She was very sweet and knowledgeable. Quick also. Bambi was done in 15 mins. But the best part was the price. For all his shots, office visit, antibiotic, and trifexis it was less than $ 200! It would have been about $ 500 at Heights Hospital!
I’ve decided to make this my dog Copper’s clinic.
As people have said, it’s not a very pretty place and you may have to wait, but it’s totally worth it! Prices are incredible and the staff is great. I remember going there with my grandma when I was younger and I recognize some of the staff. That goes to show just how dedicated they are to the clinic and pets.
Seriously, I’m impressed.

Today was my first visit to the clinic. I was recommended by Pet Care Express for their full-​service procedures. My cat hadn’t gone to the restroom in a week and this clinic treated her with a laxative. I was pleased with the prices (you cant beat a $ 15 office visit).
My only complaint is the lack of signage and direction as to where the OFFICIAL line starts before they open. Cars lined up across the street. early. I was there half an hour early to be sure and make the front of the line so I could make it into work on time. When the gates open at 8am, a man directs the cars that are lined up along the SAME SIDE of the vet first then the rest. Meaning, if you are parked across the street… you are not in line. So the 2 cars that popped in line last minute made it to #2 and #3 while I was bumped to #5 for not knowing this prior. When I complained inside, a balded man was rude and directed me to leave if I didn’t want to stay. Said there USE TO BE a sign mentioning this, but has been removed by neighborhood kids. In my opinion, resulting in no help to first-​time clients.
NOTE TO OTHERS: Make a line on the same side of the vet!
