If you want a wide variety of delicious ice cream and gelato, made with care from the finest ingredients, this has to be your destination. There is sometimes a bit of a line up on hot, busy weekend days, but the line moves quickly, and the frozen treats are well worth any wait. Definitely one of the top stops for any lover of fine, premium grade ice cream. They also stock a good selection of hand packed cartons, so you can take some of their frozen goodness home to enjoy later.

So after hearing all these amazing things about Onolicious from my sister after trying them out at the food truck festival, I had my mind set to try them out. I have been following their schedule and I noticed they are usually in the North side of Houston. As soon as I saw that they were located in Midtown and I was free, I had to visit them! Upon arrival, an hour after their scheduled opening time, they were closed. I called the number listed and one of the business manager’s, John Anthony, was so friendly and understanding. He stated that they had to delay their opening to shortage of ice. The other business owner was out retrieving it. I waited 20 minutes and felt hopeless after being told that they wouldn’t open until another additional 20 minutes. I was going to leave but the craving was so real. I decided to wait and I ordered Pineapple and Organic Mango with condensed milk(I wanted ice cream too but he was such in a hurry to return back, that he forgot to buy any). Maybe it was because I was the first customer, but it took about 15 minutes just to get my shaved ice in the cup(no syrup included). I felt that took way too long. Then when I paid, he had issues with the card reader, which also took awhile. I gave up and just gave him cash because I was really getting impatient. –Organic Mango/Pineapple with condensed milk shaved ice: The mango is definitely real. I can taste the pulp in the juice. I really appreciate them using real fruit juices because it makes me feel less guilty when drinking it. On the other hand, since they use real fruits, I’m wondering if its an off season for the mango and pineapple because I could barely taste the flavors. The mango was more stronger than the pineapple, but both flavors were EXTREMELY subtle. I only ate half of it and decided it just wasn’t for me. You would think condensed milk would help and make the shaved ice sweeter, but it was not sweet at all. I saw him put the condensed milk on, and it was a good amount but I couldn’t even taste that either… I was pretty disappointed for the delayed opening and what should’ve been a quick pick up. The shaved ice was also disappointing in the flavor category due to it being extremely subtle. I don’t like super sweet stuff, but I truly felt that sweetness was not even a factor at all. I think I’ll return when the fruits are suppose to be in season but other than that I wouldn’t go out of the way like I did today to get some Onolicious.

Onolicious converted me from a regular sno cone girl to a Hawaiian shaved ice addict!!! I absolutely love their treats! They are very passionate about their craft and it shows. I have tried other shaved ice vendors but theirs is the best by far. If that wasn’t enough, the owners are extremely helpful and demonstrate excellent customer service. Please do yourself a favor and try Onolicious!

Perfect treat on a hot summer night. They were at the heights epicurean farmers market during white linen night. I believe there were about 4 sizes to choose from but I chose a medium sized chamango for $ 6.50. Think mango sno cone with chamoy drizzle and tajin sprinkled on top. Not overly sweet and great tang every now and then from the tajin. Quick service and friendly faces.

Don’t go off that address guys! Look for them and follow on facebook and Instagram! If you like their page they’ll hook you up next time you come since they’re just starting out! Prices range from $ 3.50 to $ 8 –could possibly go higher later Smallest size is two flavors, and rest of them can do 3 flavors. I tried coconut, watermelon and strawberry. Coconut flavor taste familiar like Vietnamese dessert«Che». The coconut overpowers the watermelon and strawberry, strawberry and lemon is a good mix! It’s friggin hot as heck in houston everyday!!! So why not enjoy a splash of Hawaii! They also juice things the night before so you have the freshest flavor! Definitely gotta appreciate that!
