We decided to try Ouisie’s for a Sunday brunch and I have mixed feelings on my first impression of the restaurant. This is definitely a more upscale place and was beautifully decorated. We sat in the sunroom with a view of the outdoor patio. It was probably the best place to sit in the restaurant. You aren’t sitting outside in direct sun or heat and you can still hear a subdued version of the live piano from the main room. I ordered the bottomless mimosas and the Crab Cake Benedict. The jalapeño hollandaise is what really made the Crab Cake Benedict special. It was a very generous portion but it just didn’t blow me away like I was expecting. The bottomless mimosas were really nice and my glass was very rarely ever empty. Overall I enjoyed eating at Ouisie’s, but I just don’t feel like it was worth the price.

The mediocre reviews really lowered my expectation so after a good dinner experience, I was quite pleased. I came here for a dinner event so I won’t comment on the service, as I would expect it to be on par. As for the food, I ordered the following from the preset menu: — Baby arugula and fig salad: OK. nothing special — Grilled wild salmon topped with crawfish and tomatoes: large portion, loved the sides of wedge potatoes and green beans, the tomato flavor was good — Raspberry sorbet(the options were really key lime pie or tres leches, but since I can’t consume gluten, the server offered me the sorbet instead): most people ordered the key lime pie, and it looked great; whereas, the tres leches looked dry. In terms of the ambiance, I thought it was going to be a hip, trendy place. However, the restaurant was pretty quiet and intimate with dim lighting even with a bar on the side. The ambiance in the dining area and the outdoor patio created a romantic vibe, which I liked. It appeared to cater to the older crowds as I noticed most of the customers were in their 50s+. I think this could be an option if you’re looking to bring someone for a romantic dinner. Note that valet is $ 3. However since this restaurant is located in a shopping center, there are other spots you can park in that aren’t blocked off — just pay attention to the signs.

Ousie’s is delightful. Sweet, floral and lace table cloths, a pianist and great food. Bottomless mimosas & the shrimp and grits– could not be tastier. I plan to be back soon!

The interior of this place is nice and upscale. However, the food is not impressive given the prices stamped on their menu. I came here for Sunday brunch for a joint birthday, so I do commend this place on having good and fairly private accommodations for a big group. The menu has a good variety; the bruncheon and luncheon plates ranged from $ 15 – 25. I ended up choosing the Best Eggs Benedict. To summarize… that was a gross overstatement. The dish includes basic eggs benedict, a slice of grilled tomato, cheese grits, and fruit(a couple grapes, one cantaloupe slice, one orange slice, and one pineapple slice). When the dish came, I was very disappointed to see that they put the fruit on the same plate as everything else. This might just be me in my particular ways, but I don’t really enjoy eating fruit dipped in hollandaise. For a place as fancy as this, they could at least separate the fruit from the savory parts of the dish. The eggs benedict were kind of bland, to be frank; the Canadian bacon and English muffin were slightly tough. I have tried many eggs benedict in my time and this one was quite underwhelming, I’m sorry to say. The cheese grits were nothing special. I’d say the complimentary cornbread mini muffins and bread at the beginning were better than the dish itself.

Love the bottomless mimosa. Décor is great. Sunday brunch live piano was too loud. Would have preferred violin, something quieter for the size of the place. The staff serving our table was attentive, but did not know(or seem to care) about etiquette for serving. Good menu but the flavors in our dishes seemed muted not as distinctive as we’ve had in the past.

I came as part of a birthday celebration of 20 this evening. The drinks and food were all very good. Then it was time for the check. Apparently, they were not aware that 20 people may want to pay separately? Some had drinks; some did not. Some had entrées, some only had salads. This made dividing by 20 very questionable. I approached a manager to explain the situation and he disappeared into the back, never to be seen again. Unfortunately, most of our group will not return, including myself. What really sucks is I had two things picked out on the menu for my next visit. Hopefully they fix this service glitch before their next large party.

Ok. I wouldn’t really recommend, though the place has great service and a decent price point. They have a nice out back area — and an event space in the back as well. The food is a little on the boring side — kind of basic /generic. It would be good for an older crowd though.

Outstanding dinner. Our food were so delicious and the staff are friendly, nice. Nice dining room. The prices on the menu are reasonable and the quality of the food is extremely good. Recommend Seared scallop for appetizer, Seared Chilean Sea Bass, Crispy Red Snapper and Lobster Ravioli. We’ve heard that they also serve breakfast, so we will come back to check it out.

Came here for brunch after we discovered Tiny Boxwood’s was closed. Our first impression: this is much fancier than what we were going for. The lot is valet only, the décor and the service all seemed extremely upscale and fancy. I was surprised to see that all the menu items were fairly affordable, so that was a nice surprise. There was an ugly chalkboard menu that was extremely poorly designed and completely stood out in the middle of all the nice white cloths. The food was disappointing. Our meal started with the complimentary bread, which was probably the best part of my meal. Crab Caesar salad(2⁄5) — the crab meat tasted like it was dumped straight from a can. The lettuce was just thrown onto the plate, and then overloaded with anchovies and croutons. The deviled egg was probably the only good part of the salad. And the Caesar dressing they use is pretty good. Chicken Fried Steak(1⁄5) — I would say I could make CFS better than this, and I don’t even cook. The breading came completely off of the steak, which was rough and dry. The mustard greens had absolutely no flavor, and the mashed potatoes were too buttery. The gravy that was served on the side had to be loaded with salt and pepper for it to even taste decent. Maybe we just chose bad items off the menu, but this was truly a disappointment. The only thing that made it an okay meal was the fact that our server was extremely attentive and the atmosphere was nice. But don’t let that fool you.

We have eaten here many times and had a great experience. The service has always been impeccable, and the atmosphere inviting. Because of that we decided to order our thanksgiving dinner from this restaurant, BIG mistake! The turkey was VERYGREASY and flavorless. The Mac and cheese was a repeat of the turkey greasy and flavorless, the green beans were ok. We paid extra for tiny rolls the size of quarters. And to top it all off their gravy was gross, my family described it as toxic matter. Big disappointment !

So this review is not based on their food but on possibly having a wedding reception there. Please read if you’re considering this as a reception venue… First of all, I’ve seen Ouisie’s Table in several publications in my recent bridal frenzy. Me and my fiancé then attended Camp for All’s Camp Culinary Challenge(side note: I HIGHLY recommend this event, please go it’s for a great cause) and they were a sponsor for the mac and cheese challenge. I’m not sure of his name, but I talked to a dark haired younger guy who was really great but works for the restaurant part not the wedding part. So, I emailed their wedding coordinator the next day who was always kind of slow about returning emails and whenever I did ask specific questions she sent me generic information that I’m sure she copies and pastes to everyone. My very first email to her she emails over a contact type form saying they need a credit card to reserve. I’m sorry but that’s rude, I haven’t even seen the space, you haven’t answered any of my questions and the first impression I’m getting is that all you want is to lock me in and get my money. Well, we still had a good overall impression at the time and went by on a Saturday to check out the space. I met the restaurant manager and again the dark haired guy, who were really nice and helpful. They were setting up for a wedding and specifically told me the wedding was for 140 guests and they were setting up the main dining room and lucy’s porch. It looked beautiful! But red flag, wedding coordinator wasn’t there… So Monday, I email the wedding coordinator… she doesn’t email me back until a day later. I tried to call her several times throughout this ordeal and never got a hold of her either the restaurant wasn’t open yet, she was in a meeting, or she wasn’t available. The price was really good and we really loved the space and we wanted to book it but when I went to finalize everything(I was wanting the main room and lucy’s porch) they say I have to have a guest count of 180 when their contract says the minimum for the main room is 75 and lucy’s porch is 55(130 total) and the wedding we saw being set up had both rooms and we were told the guest count was 140… HMMM seemed fishy to me so we decided to go with another venue. I was really disappointed and no where does it say in any of the contract or literature they sent over that there is a 180 guest minimum for both rooms. The wedding coordinator also never thought to mention that until we got really close to locking in with them. Needless to say, I felt like this was extremely deceiving especially when this differs from what is presented in printed materials… Another side note– the girl who does the flowers is also really awesome and helpful. TLDR Staff seems great but wedding reception seemed a lot like a bait and switch to me. 2 stars because everyone besides the wedding coordinator was really, really nice.

It’s a cute place to go with a really courteous waitstaff but the food is really not well done at all. And it’s completely overpriced. If you do go, order something that can’t be messed up in any way shape or form. I ordered a tenderloin to be cooked medium and it came out dry and charred. And my poached egg came out w the hard yolk! You don’t mess with my yolks. Overall, you can go to many much better places to eat in Houston. For the price and food quality, I would not recommend it.

Disclaimer: I was here as a guest of a wedding rehearsal dinner(actually a rehearsal brunch), but I wanted to compliment how wonderful the staff handled such a large group. Onward. We all ordered from a set menu, which obviously helps with speed of service, but I found the staff and service to be wonderful. Our table had a wonderful time, the food and drink orders were correct, the food was good, and I never saw the bottom of a water glass. The mini muffins/breads were probably the highlight for me, I thought they were especially tasty. Wonderful aesthetic at this place, and to top it off they partitioned our group away expertly. Highly recommend for group events.

I somehow missed the memo about Ouisie’s. I first learned about this place when ABC13 did a story promoting Houston Restaurant Weeks. Ouisie’s was featured in the piece. After seeing the story, I just had to try this place out. I’m always weary during HRW because I feel like some places don’t put forth their A game. Luckily I had a wonderful dining experience. My girlfriends and I came here for brunch a few weeks ago and opted for the HRW brunch menu. To start, I ordered the Golden Glamour(champagne, passion fruit tea, vanilla liqueur). It was different but pretty good. I had the pear salad for the first course. It was good; very light. For the entrée, I had the chicken fried chicken with a fried egg(over hard). It came with cream gravy, green beans, and a biscuit. The eggs and chicken were fabulous! The green beans weren’t bad(cooked al dente which I like). The biscuit was a little too flat for my preference. I like fluffy biscuits. This one seemed a little too dense. For dessert, we were planning on ordering one of the selected desserts on the HRW menu plus the Tres Leches cake in addition because my friend kept raving about how good the Tres Leches cake is. Well to our surprise, they were out of cheesecake. Our server Elliot was nice enough to let us order the Tres Leches cake in place of the cheesecake. We also had the Texas peach cobbler which was topped with vanilla ice cream. The cobbler was good, but the Tres Leches cake was out of this world. Tres Leches cake is absolutely one of my favorite desserts on the planet. This just might have been the best Tres Leches cake I’ve ever had. I seriously want to go back just for dessert. The HRW brunch is $ 25 which is an excellent deal, but I would come here for a special occasion(or for dessert). The one downside is the forced valet, but it’s only $ 3. They had some parking in front of some nearby businesses that were closed(on a Sunday). I’m not sure where you would park during the week when those businesses are open, but be prepared to valet your car. Either way it was a great dining experience, plus I was able to continue to the Houston Food Bank. A win for everyone!

Went to ousies last night with very expensive group dinner for tables. Missed twice bc location hard to find w a strangely scribbled name not clearly written. The restaurant is hidden back away from Street. Hors d’oeuvres were a joke. My husband said he’s never been served such tiny hors d’oeuvres! House salad very good but bread serving was tiny tiny tiny three muffins dry and hard. Butter mold. was a pretty flower but wasn’t butter– we’re not sure what bc strange flavorless artificial taste. They took our order for the $ 29 ribeye steaks without asking how we wanted it cooked(does an expensive restaurant in Texas ever serve steak without specifying how it should be done?) then they served both well done. We wanted rare to medium rare! What decent chef would ever consider cooking a Texas steak well-done? Not from U.S.A.

Like its sister restaurant the Bird and the Bear down the street, I wasn’t super impressed by Ousie’s Table. Granted, it’s a really cute place – very southern looking – but the service and food are just so-so. We went there for breakfast, and the options were fairly boring – it wasn’t bad, but I felt like I could have made the dishes at home or been dining at a mid-level hotel chain. Simplicity has its merits, but for such a cute place, the food didn’t really keep up. As far as service goes, they took a while to bring the food and brought out the wrong order for me at first, which made the rest of the table wait while their food got cold. OK spot, but not a place I’ll be racing back to try again.

Wait staff were very good and we had our water glasses filled in a constant basis. However, the food left a bit to be desired. Had the grilled salmon and spinach with cucumber yogurt. The cucumber yogurt was watery and lacking in flavor. My grilled salmon although nicely flavored was not crispy on the skin side. The spinach left an aftertaste that wasn’t pleasant. The wedge of tomato on my plate had been sitting somewhere warm for quite a spell. The building in which the establishment is housed is wonderful the best element of the entire dinning experience. If you’re looking for a quiet place for a brunch or lunch date it’s wonderful. Just don’t expect much in the cuisine department and you won’t be disappointed. Use the valet parking. It’s much easier than trying to park yourself in the pinpoint area they call a parking lot.

This review is for weekday breakfast: so disappointing! I’ve been wanting to try Ouisie’s since we moved to Houston, but my dish was really not good. I got the eggs with Moroccan semolina cakes, and they were so dense I could barely eat them! They also had an odd flavor, like unseasoned polenta. I told my server they weren’t the best, but I supposed it’s my fault for not ordering well. Maybe lunch or dinner is better here?

Super service, bar drinks, wine list and food. Really superior menu choices. Hard to select just one item with so many truly quality options. Started off testing the bartender with my favorite martini — a Hot & Dirty. Haven’t been able to find a good one in Houston up to now. The drink was perfection! Starred with Ouisie’s Spuds and Calamari. Both were wonderful. For entrees we had Sea Bass with champagne burre blanc sauce. Superb! Also, the cumin dusted lamb chops were amazing. Highly recommend both dishes. Can’t wait to return to try the rest of the menu. Additionally, Laney, our server, knew it was our anniversary and also had observed my husband did not drink. She was coy about finding out that he never drinks. She brought us champagne glasses to toast our special occasion. One with proseco and one with coke. That’s paying attention above and beyond! Bravo!

Another disappointment. Ordered the cowboy bone-in ribeye and it came out cold.(See pic). Parking can be a pain if you choose not to valet.
