The BBQ is bad. It’s not horrible but it’s definitely not good. The potato salad was good and the environment was nice. I would try another BBQ joint if I were you.

BBQ sauce sucked. Ribs not tender. Better places to have BBQ. Sweet tea was good. Not much to comment except that I have had better. Try another BBQ joint.

We come here often, but I can’t figure out why y’all don’t serve the same BBQ sauce that is served at Pappas Burger? Their hickory sauce and even the sweet BBQ sauce is light years better than the two y’all serve here! Every time I come here I have to eat my food dry because your sauces are terrible! Please take note and see about changing he recipes! Y’all could serve both of those and make one a spicy sauce for one, it’s not hard and I’m sure other patrons would like it as well!

Who knew? This place has ginormous breakfast tacos for about $ 3. And the meat selection is no joke. Not just bacon or chorizo. They offer brisket, sausage and what I found to be my favorite, the green chili chicken. It’s called the chilaquiles taco. Green chili chicken, pico de gallo, Mexican cheese, eggs, and crispy tortilla strips. All stuffed into a flour tortilla so full it barely closes. I think I found my new favorite breakfast taco joint. And there is one in The Woodlands. Can’t wait to see if they do it up there like they do at this location. Home run! I’ll be back. If not here definitely another pappas bbq somewhere.

I was upset overall on my food. I bought package 1 its the 3 meats, coleslaw, potato salad and macaroni. I did like the macaroni, the potato salad and brisket was absolutely SALTY! For $ 50 bucks I wasn’t getting my money’s worth. And to top it off they put my food in a paper bag, when i got home the bar-b-que sauce was not secured and made a hole in the bottom of the bag. Uggg! Never going back again!

My family always gets BBQ from here. We usually get a mix of brisket, pork sausage, and beef ribs. When I lived in NYC for school, I missed Pappas BBQ so much. Nothing in NY compared to Texas BBQ. I love the potato salad(best ever!) and spicy Mexican rice, but most of all the BBQ sauce!

Food was good. Not the best barbecue I’ve ever had but it was good. It’s «fast food» style barbecue. Ribs were tender and the sausage was good.

I had the pleasure of trying other restaurants from this chain so when I heard they had a bbq version I was ready to go! Well let’s start off with the parking lot — dark in a shady area that had a security guard standing outside. So not welcoming. There was a drive thru so that was something! Upon entering I noticed the décor and the entire restaurant looked worn down and defiantly needs a fresh coat of paint. There’s a very large seating area with some TVs. Ordering was cafeteria style and the sides were promptly on display — thankfully because that macaroni and cheese looked gross but the cucumber salad looked delicious! Only one soda machine beside the register and I was uncertain if we were allowed to get refills as I would of had to get back in line. If refills are free please move the machine it’s awkward and weird that you have prefilled glasses of ice. The bbq sauces were two choices with lids you had to remove completely and little glass dishes that were messy to pour from. Ok so the food. Pulled pork bbq was good but not epic. Chili cheese fries were delicious and really enjoyed that it was more like queso cheese then shredded cheese. Ordered half a pound of baby back ribs and was completely disappointed. Although very lean there was just absolutely no seasoning or flavor. All in all my impression was someone thought hey we’re in Texas lets do bbq and the result was a bbq fast food restaurant. Wouldn’t go back unless I worked nearby and needed lunch and it was a sunny day so I didn’t get stabbed in the parking lot.

Was not what I expected. It is all self service no wait staff. I had the ½ chicken and beef rib combo. The chicken was very moist and tasty. The rib I didn’t like much but it was my first time having a beef rib so that could just be my taste. As sides I had the green beans and spicy rice which were both good. My nephew had the mac n cheese and just by the look of it it should be called cheese n mac. It had a disgusting amount of cheese and just did not taste right. Other than that it was an ok visit.

The hardest part of eating here was figuring out how it all works. Big menu. Big servings. Big bill! It was tasty for the most part. But I am still looking for the perfect bbq place. Haven’t found it yet. The family ordered ribs and I had pulled pork. The family gave thumbs up for the Mac and cheese. I liked the coleslaw and potato salad and I’m pretty picky about both. The beans were a tad spicy but good. This is Texas after all. ;). I ordered the carrots. They were good but I like carrots. ;).

This is one of the best BBQ places we’ve been to… been coming here almost all my life. Consistently great food and quick service. Out of towners who haven’t had real bbq love it, too.

Now I have gone to this location over 100 times over the past 18 years and I can say one thing– this is the best location EVER– consistent(though they were the last location to change the beans to the bbq beans they sell now– I am not happy about that switch but I will allow it as everyone else in the world seems to like them– I am still not HAPPY about it though) and did I mention consistent? I have honestly never had a bad anything here, brisket, ribs, pork, tamales… yes tamales… sausage, all of it good, every time all the time… so don’t go to any of the other locations thinking this is true… it is NOT… some locations actually are awful… only this ONE location is the go to location. if you like your sandwich a particular way(we only eat lean outside cut brisket… we have a serious beef palate in my clan) just tell them and they trim all the weirdness off and make it the way you want it. Oh yeah and the hamburgers… OMGAWESOMENESS– try the double… extra toasted bun… its like eating a baby angel on a toasted cloud… a bit of heaven off of the SW Freeway… and aguas frescas, beer and ice tea… desserts…YES pie to die for and amazing little parfaits that are always perfect. cookies, YUM. yes go now —

I love Pappa’s BBQ and this location is probably my favorite — it’s so large and accessible. And I work very close by, so I’ve been here a lot. This Pappa’s BBQ is a very quick and popular place for lunch. The line moves quickly and there’s plenty of seating. The food is always so tasty. My favorite things are the sliced brisket sandwich and the Sweet Caroline pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and always with FRIES! Pappa’s fries are some of my favorite ever! They also have fun, natural fruit-flavored juices, like watermelon and cantaloupe. Pappa’s BBQ was one of my late grandfather’s favorite restaurants and we ate here frequently(but a different location) when I was a child, so it evokes very fond memories for me. While I was an employee of HBU we ordered large, catered meals from this Pappa’s several times and they always went above and beyond to make sure our meal was perfect. The service is great! Pappa’s is a really solid, consistent, reliable choice for BBQ. If you want to be a good Houstonian, you pretty much have to like it.

Brought an out-of-towner here recently and we all really enjoyed our experience. My expectations had been rather low seeing how this was just another twist off a major chain, but not anymore! The restaurant had the perfect amount of Western décor, a wide selection of meats & sides, portions justifying that«everything is bigger in Texas,» and several TV screens playing Sunday football to satisfy the boy. It was a happy afternoon all around. We shared the Dinner Plate(3 meats &3 large sides) between the 3 of us and had enough left over for one more meal. Favorites were the mac & cheese, sausage, and pulled pork. Be sure to get extra servings of the hot & spicy BBQ sauce for the table… you’re gonna want it.

Nice place with friendly employees. They did a lot of things right… condiment table, varied menu with lots of side choices I had the brisket, outside cut… honestly just wasn’t great. Certainly not good enough to get me back with all of the BBQ choices around the area

What I instantly liked about is Pappa’s BBQ was the warm and comforting smokey, woodsy and of course BBQ aroma. The décor is that of a typical BBQ joint with lots of woodwork in the interior and bags of onions and boxes of enormous baking potatoes lined about. I can’t comment about the whole menu but the items I have tried here were overall decently good. The BBQ brisket baked potato is probably my favorite item. Served with either chopped or sliced brisket, the huge potato is piled full of meat and whatever other items you choose. Sliced brisket ensures less fatty pieces but I’ve never encountered very much fatty parts with the chopped. They do serve burgers here as well as chicken. I have tried the burger once and it was juicy and had good flavor. The brisket tamales were a delicious surprise. We wanted to order a dozen but these are popular items and only one half dozen were available. Luckily we did at least get that many and were able to try them. We could see why they sell fast. Tender tamales filled with smokey, savory brisket, these are winners. These are on our«for certain will get again» list. Last visit, I noticed that pulled pork was available as a baked potato topping. It’s something I’ll probably try next time as it looked good. There’s many who don’t like sauce with their BBQ but that’s their choice. I like sauce. The sauce here was a little unusual on first try. Somewhat acidic with a slightly pungent undertone and mild smokiness. Not bad but definitely different, it’s Pappa’s signature sauce. Used lightly, it actually goes well with the meats here. My favorite side is probably the yams. They’re soft, sweet, lightly spiced and full of flavor. The fries and onion rings are two other sides that have never failed me. Both are served hot, crisp and tasty. The beans are pretty good, too. The pecan pie is rich and sweet and is a dessert I’ll often get. The cheesecake is creamy and rich and another yummy option. I do wish that other fruit topping options besides strawberry were available. While I love strawberries, it would be wonderful to have blueberries or cherries, too. Service can be friendly or sourball. It’s cafeteria style so I’m not expecting much interaction other than stating my food choices to the server. Sourball or not, they have so far gotten orders correct and out in a timely manner and that’s fine by me. Pappa’s BBQ may be a chain type BBQ but it’s better than most chain type BBQ places. It may not be premium, awe inspiring BBQ but it is dependable. As long as the BBQ baked potatoes stay yummy, we will come back.
