We so enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The jazz music playing in the background was a nice touch. I had the blackened catfish alongside pappardelle noodles with crawfish, while my wife had the seafood gumbo and side salad. Both had exquisite flavor and we definitely shared!

I’m not sure why this place gets lower than 4 star reviews. We popped in for lunch on a Wednesday and Pappas Seafood never disappoints! We got there about 10:59am and by 11:20 the place is packed, with a line out the door. Service is prompt and courteous as we got seated immediately. Trust me the lunch crowd swarms this place with business folks from the industrial corridor of Hwy 225 and Pasadena. Today I opted for the combo baked oysters, which is an app but i had as an entrée with a side Caesar salad. Both were phenomenal, as the oysters were good size and packed with buttery cheesy savory flavor. The caesar was great too with homemade dressing. My compadres had the scallop platter with clam chowder(which is fantastic and one of the best in Houston per my opinion) and the Salmon plate with wine butter sauce. No plates were left with any trace of food by the end of our meal. While, the place isn’t exactly cheap, I do feel its good value for the price, especially when you can expense it as business meal. All in all, great seafood and lots of choices!

One of my goals in life is to eat at every style Pappa’s restaurant. Only Pappa’s Burgers and Pappa Bros Steakhouse left to try now. Apparently, the difference between this one and Pappadeaux is that the later is more Cajun(at least according to the bartender). I had catfish pappardelle pasta and it was excellent(and Cajun). Only Pappa’s Burgers and Pappa Bros Steakhouse left to try now! Pappa’s restaurants are highly recommended; especially Pappadeaux.

Very yummy place to eat! The service was superb… We just came from a cruise in Galveston and starting just 4.5 miles away at the Springhill suites with their free shuttle to airport and nearby restaurants. Their mozzarella cheese sticks are more like cheese logs they are so huge. Very tasty. My husband had the sampler platter with fried tilapia, fried shrimp, fried crawfish, & fried chicken and said it was very good. The chicken Caesar salad is huge. They have a lunch menu specials every day. The cheese cake is a must try and big enough for 5 of us to share. The portions here are Texas sized. We are a family of 4, one ordered a kids meal and we had dessert and 2 drinks and the bill came to $ 75 so the pricing is about average. They serve you bread and crackers before your meal. I definitely recommend eating here when visiting Houston.

I have been coming to this location for ages. If you are familiar with Pappas Restaurants than you know that you will be getting tasty food. Perhaps not mind blowing and not the best the city has to offer but certainly tasty food. What I like about this place is that they are always consistent, I have been coming here for over 8 years. The waiters are always pleasant and they definitely have some tasty golden crisp fries. If you are dining with picky eaters, this place will accommodate all.

This is my first visit to this particular Pappas Seafood but it will not be my last. First we were greeted at the door by 3 smiling faces which was fantastic. We were taken to a table right away, there was a little bit of crackers on the floor but a young lady came and took care of that promptly with a smile. Our waitress was Kristen and although she said she was new to working there she took care of us like a professional. She was super attentive to our needs, she sold us on the Swamp thing drinks which were delicious as ever!!! My co-worker had the Shrimp Linguini and I had the Blackened Catfish which was just as great as the first time I had it in a different location. We also had the Shrimp & Crawfish Fondue and that also delicious. Back to our waitress she was so helpful and friendly, we adored her!!!

I enjoy coming here, usually I’ll have dinner and drinks at the bar w friends. Vincent is awesome, very attentive and efficient. I’m so sorry but the girl that usually is there also I completely just drew blank on her name, short, glasses, red hair always in a pony tail, always great seeing her there. Wonderful drinks. One thing that would be helpful, please please please put some purse hooks. I personally don’t like putting my purse on the floor, I also don’t like putting it on my chair bc I can’t keep an eye on it since it would be behind me and I certainly don’t want to sit it on the bar where I’m about to eat/drink. No complaints. Just something to help us women out. :) thank you.

The service was not so bad after they tried to seat us in a 2X4 table I asked to be moved to a larger table. Our server was great and the trio appetizer was somewhat decent. The main course which mainly consisted of fried food had no taste. For the price of the food there I was very disappointed.

I was invited to lunch here on 01/26/2016. It was the only Pappas restaurant concept that I had never eaten at… I don’t know why. My friend told me it was training restaurant so not to expect the world of the place. However, I never would have guessed it. The service was spot on, the staff was very friendly and they had very good lunch portions that had good price/value. I arrived 15 minutes late and my friends had already ordered, but all 3 of our dishes came out at the same time less than 10 minutes of my arrival. I can only guess that they made my food immediately so as to not serve my friend’s food cold or make me wait while they ate. I am a big eater and had not eaten breakfast so I was very hungry. I ordered the lunch portion of the Blackened Catfish and it satisfied me. I usually never order dessert at Pappas because the portions are so satisfying, but my friend ordered the dessert trio. I was amazed at the amount of dessert they give you for $ 7.95. The trio had a slice of key lime pie, a slice of pecan pie and two slices of cheesecake. My friend who eats there at least once a week said that the slices were usually bigger, but I thought they were pretty big for the price. Since I am in that area everyday I will have to start eating there on a regular basis.

Always excellent food. Sometimes the hostess can be a bit … Uhhh … dumb as a bag of hammers.(Nicest thing I could think of to say.) But since I generally dine alone, I sit at the bar. And the red headed girl tending bar couldn’t be more adorable or competent if she were the dream construct of a team of sitcom writers. Seriously; she’s cuter than a box of puppies in a little red wagon. And smart. And witty. And works her ass off. So I basically go to see her. And the food: always excellent. Yes, it’s high. This is Houston. Everything is expensive. For quality fresh seafood it’s impossible to beat Pappa’s. I have had terrible service at their places. And my car was robbed at Pappasitos. But the food has ALWAYS been excellent. If someone says different they’re probably an asshole. Worth a stop. Have shrimp. Over-tip the bartender.

Usually the service is ok, but today it was horrible. We had to ask for refills, our own silver ware, and bread. Our appetizer came almost 25 minutes later. I’m not sure if they were short staffed or what but I expect service to be better for paying $ 150.(We came Sunday 01-10-2016 around 5ish)

Solid 4 star Cajon Seafood. I have eaten here 3 times on the 2 weeks I spent in South Houston. Great Gumbo, Blackened Mahi Mahi(Costa Rican) with shrimp on top, and their Mixed Seafood Grill over dirty rice. 2 skewers are enough 2 people with a good appetite. I tried the 2 skewers and couldn’t finish them. I was stuffed… I cannot figure out why this place only rates at 3 stars. It is a definite rival for Pappadeaux’s restaurants any day of the week. May not be as flashy and vibrant as Pappadeaux on the inside, but the food will sure give them a run for the finish line. Service is attentive without rushing you. Maybe some people want in and out faster, but an hour to an hour &15 is not slow. Like I said, I cannot figure out why their ratings are not at 4 stars. If you are looking for Cajon food in Houston, go to Pappa’s Seafood at I-45 Sough

I sat a the bar and was served by a very energetic bartender who also seemed understaffed but did a great job providing excellent service. I had the shrimp gumbo which was loaded with shrimp. I followed that up with the shrimp po boy. That sandwich was huge! I should have gotten the smaller portion. It was delicious. The key lime pie was highly recommend so I took it back to the hotel for the next day. Service was excellent the food was great.

I had been to Pappadeaux before and I didn’t like it much, but this was much better than I expected. Appetizer and dinner were good. Took dessert and it was pretty good as well. Waitress said she was the head pastry maker. She was polite and we didn’t have to wait for a refill or anything, she did her job very well. I’ll probably go back.

I called to set an order for pickup. After I set my order — I asked, «Are you the Webster Location?» and my server, Josie, said«I’m not sure. We are next to James Coney Island.» That means nothing to me — as I am from out of town. I then said, «I saw your restaurant when I was driving down 45. Is the road all under construction out front?» Josie said, «I don’t think so. It’s a little messed up.» Anyway — so off I go. Turns out — they are 20 miles away from where I was.(Webster location — 3 miles away.) In short — I drove all the way there — and had to ask for bread and the cole slaw they told me came with my order.(She asked if I wanted it on the phone and I said, «yes». Then when I got there — I looked in the bag — nothing. I had to ask again. I drove back to my hotel to eat my meal cold. Come one people… you should know your location — and the location of your sister stores. Cold meal without a beverage — 26 bucks.

I don’t even really like seafood but I like this place. Service was really good. When I mentioned that I had a food allergy and asked questions, they sent the manager over to answer any of my questions, and offered to prepare the dish in a way that wouldn’t conflict with my dietary issues. It was great. Tasty creole dishes that are sure to please a person looking for a seafood or southern cuisine place to eat with reasonable prices.

My boyfriend & I came to visit Houston for a week and decided to stop by Pappa’s since I had a gift card there. The bread and food — we have no complaints about. Our server, was great and very accommodating. However, there’s plenty of socializing done amongst the staff which makes for a negative ambience. On our way out, my boyfriend had in his hands, 2 to-go cups and a take out box. A waitress standing at the hostess stand held the door open for a woman coming into the restaurant, turns around, sees us coming about 3 steps away(no exaggeration) and immediately lets go of the door. The door was a little heavy for me so my boyfriend helped and spilled my water on himself. The waitress didn’t bother to apologize nor offer another drink, just focused on closing the door. I’ve never come across such rude treatment, we called the manager shortly after. He was great, trying to offer us a gift card as a form of remedy, but we want nothing to do with this place again. I do not recommend this location to anyone.

Came here on a Saturday night. Got crab cakes and oysters(raw and stuffed). All three dishes were good. I got a sampler platter or whatever it’s called(fried seafood) to share with my BF, and they didn’t even split the plates evenly so I ended up picking food off his plate the whole time. I tried the lobster and my dad’s dish. So overall the food was okay. We ordered cheese cake and crème brûlée and the cheese cake was super good! Service was pretty slow, he came around and asked what we needed but before we even finished saying what we needed, he ran off. Over all, it was mainly the appetizers and the cheesecake that I enjoyed. Wouldn’t really think about coming here again unless someone invited me.

Well, first I would like to start by saying that I am 32 years old, and I have grown up going to the Pappas Seafood on Shepard Dr. in Houston. This was our first time going to the location on 45. When we got there you guys were busy, but we were greeted in a timely manor and had no problem waiting for a table. We decided to stand in the bar area, and we were thinking of sitting there if a seat became available. The bartender that you had on duty was not paying attention to her guests, and was talking badly about customers at the service well with another servers. As a person who has been in the bar and restaurant industry for 15 years, and managed for 5 plus, I could not believe it when I saw what appeared to be the assistant manager watching this and doing nothing… followed by him interjecting bad comments about the customers, and laughing with them instead of correcting it or having them move their poor behavior to the back of the house out of obvious eye sight and hearing range of the customers. This was happening less than 3 feet away from us. I went to the bar to ask for a glass of water, 20 minutes into our wait(again we do not mind waiting, I am just reiterating this in order for you to understand why we even went to the bar if we did not appreciate her behavior), a couple of minutes go by and she finally acknowledges me. I ask for a glass of water please, and she says that it will take a second. She turns from us and walks over to the register, and does not ring anything in, she then goes to her cooler, but does not pull anything out or put anything in. At this point I am getting frustrated, but the hostess calls our name to be sat. I tell the bartender, thank you and that I will not be in need of the water because we were being sat… She doesn’t even acknowledge me. We sat down, I order a mojito with barcardi and a water my husband ordered a soda and a water. It took over 10 plus minutes to receive my drink from the bar, which was pure lime juice and whole branches of mint that was not muddled at ALL. I took pictures of all of this. Our server was very nice, and helpful, but clearly was unable to carry more than 1 drink in each hand. I was unable to drink the drink, but I was scared to order another one considering the obvious attitude and lack of work ethic of your bartender. She had made her point when she made the drink as sloppy and as carelessly as she did. I know all the tricks, because I am in the industry as well and the one that she employed was the make the drink horrible so the customer does not want to order another one. I get why, mojitos are a pain to make because of how labor intensive they are. So, I started to drink my water instead. We asked our server for refills multiple times, and did not receive them until we asked for a 3rd time. We could see 4 servers, the assistant manager, and one of the kitchen staff on the floor in clear eye sight of the floor making fun of the customers. Your manager was leading the charge in making fun of guests. He was holding a glass up the air, and making fun of a person who asked for another glass because theirs was DIRTY. I was so embarrassed to be there, and wanted to leave, but I was excited to eat the food and wanted to wait. All of our food arrives at the table at the same time??? Meaning salads and entrees arrive exactly the same time. We had no room, but made do. My étouffée was covered in parsley to the point that I couldn’t taste anything but that. I tried picking it out, but it was like the amount of parsley never depreciated. I couldn’t get it out. I tried eating around it, but was DISGUSTING! I leaned over to my husband and said that I felt like I just lit a $ 100 bill on fire. What a waste of money. I loved your restaurant, and would dream about that étouffée when we moved away to Austin, but we were back and I was so excited to get my étouffée fix, but after all of this we will not be back. I could not believe that, with the exception of maybe 2 servers which we saw working hard and not participating in the group of employees that were bad mouthing customers in front of them, that your company is ok with this sort of behavior. Like I previously stated, we were long time customers. My family has been going to Pappas Seafood and various Pappas family concepts since the founding of the concept 20 years ago. I feel sick right now, and I am praying that I do not have food poisoning. You need to have a retraining session with the entire staff at that location.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over ten years. It’s near me, with decent seafood, and usually ok service.(I never choose this place btw, it’s always someone else who wants to come here.) after last nights dinner, I will never be returning. Mark my words. Got there at 6:00 Saturday night with hardly any prior at the bar or sitting. We had a table of 6 so we waited longer than couples. Fine, no biggie. Finally sat down, took ten minutes for the waitress to come by to take drinks. Bread never came out, until someone asked when our food arrived. It didn’t take long for our food to arrive, but my plate was missing. So we asked… and waited… waited some more. We ask again, no one knows a damn thing. Our waitress blamed the kitchen the whole time. Hmmm, will it ever get here? Will I be dining with my party or dining at home on cold pizza. Wtf. I’m patient, understanding, and not in the mood to argue. I cancel my meal, right when they bring it out. Even more wtf. They say it’s on the house. Um, thanks? My friends had stopped eating cause my plate never showed. So their foods cold while I’m searching for remnants of my tiny starter salad. Hubby tries to feed me his dinner, but everyone knows the feeling of being left out of the food loop. Not fun! The worst it to come. I allow the food to be boxed, they kindly remove the charge. The charge of $ 22 for fish and squash mind you. I take the plate and on the way home, notice something rolling around in the box! So I open it and find the saddest piece of fish and the fugliest 4 pieces of what I believe to be squash. U decide from the picture. THIS is what I would have been served!!! For $ 22! You’re out of your mind bat shit crazy to think this is a proper meal to serve at a «high end» seafood joint. I can go to The Cajun Stop downtown and get awesome food for a third of the cost. Wow. What an experience. This place has ALWAYS been way overpriced for the quality(or lack thereof) of the food. The ambience is stupid because you have candlelight with dirty carpet, outdated chairs, and even older paint on the walls. You have senior, dressy clientele sitting next to a table of screeching women. I don’t know. Not my cup of tea. I will not ever go back and will continue to keep my peeps from returning as well. Travel ten more minutes and you will hit an array of great seafood joints DT. Ones that are actually worth the $ 30 – 60 you will spend for one person here. Boooo to Pappas for their eff up.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. My friend called and asked about the oysters special and the host told us that the special was going on today(Sunday). We ended up heading there for the special. We arrived and there was no special. We spoke with the manager and she wouldn’t honor what her employee told us on the phone and made no attempt to make it right. The place was completely empty. After having experienced poor conversations with the manager, we ended up leaving. I do not recommend this place. Poor management.
