I have been coming to the Paul Mitchell school for some time now and have never been disappointed With the service or the stylist. I have suggested this school to many of my friends, office coworkers and people I meet at concerts or adventures out.

Worst experience ever and one day before Christmas Eve! I went in for ombré and it looks like I have orange hair. Who starts an ombré 2 inches from the scalp?!! I will Never be back here again.

Absolutely fantastic haircuts and color. Ridiculously horrible parking. Be prepared to park next to Bel Furniture.

Paul Mitchell the School is amazing. You get the full salon experience for a lot less. The students are very polite and professional and the staff does a great job of coaching the stylists. Great energy all around! I have been here for years, and worked with many up-and-coming stylists and have never had a bad experience. I would recommend all of my friends to go here! Only thing I might suggest, is get there at least 15 minutes before your appointment as parking can be difficult to find.

I understand that the people cutting my hair are students, but my goodness… this was an absolute snoozefest of a haircut that I was not pleased with. For a $ 20 Groupon(red flags all around), I got a wash, cut, and keratin treatment(#TREATYOSELF — it was included). I was at Paul Mitchell for 2 hours. My hair isn’t even that long!!! 25 minutes: delayed appointment due to my original student having to leave early. I understand things come up, but a heads up would have been great, giving myself time to do other things in my life like take a nap or something. 25 minutes: washing my hair, applying the keratin treatment, rinsing off. Fair enough for the keratin treatment to do its thing, and I like people taking their time washing my hair. Feels good man. 1 hour 15 minutes: I kid you not, it took this long to cut my hair. Most professional stylists only take about 30 minutes on my hair, so I understand that extra leeway is expected for taking their time and instructor approval, but my student was snipping my hair so. Slowly. That I actually fell asleep in my chair(I really could have used that aforementioned nap). Also, I didn’t even realize that my hair wasn’t cut evenly until I showered that night! It looked fine in the mirror after cutting when I played with it, but the left side of my head was chopped far too liberally compared to the right, and there are some cowlicks that now exist where they previously didn’t. Really surprised the instructors didn’t try to even anything out, either. My student was nice(and probably very, very new, especially given that I’m a Groupon client), but the entire experience just totally turned me off from ever getting my hair cut at a Paul Mitchell school again. At least I only spent $ 20…

Today I had an appointment at Paul Mitchell The School, and it was the best, I didn’t even get to sit down before my stylist came and was ready to get started! She talked my out of what would have been a bad choice of doing highlights and go with a warmer brown that has nice red highlights in the sun. I was told by a few that I looked 10 yrs younger, I felt it too. Only fall back be prepared to drive around for a parking spot! ~lol~ Everyone there was nice and professional. I will continue to go back there to have Carley Melton do my hair again! Its nice to turn heads again! ;)

This place is good however do not make an appointment via Unilocal.Mine did not go through &8 had to wait awhile to get a haircut. Now the actual service is great and you get a lot of bang for your buck! Plus the instructors actually watch the students so You won’t get a bad hairdo.

After many years of having the same hair style, I decided to change it up. I’ve always been pretty skeptical about who cuts my hair, because I’ve had some bad experiences in the past. Then I saw one of Rio de Armas’ post on Instagram @makeupnhairbyrio and I decided to give her a try, since all her work looked amazing… Long story short, I found my permanent hair stylist! She did a better job than most stylists I’ve had in the past from reputable companies like Master Cuts and Visible Changes, and it was not as expensive as them either! I live in Sugar Land and have to drive all the way up there for my appointments, but it’s worth it. 10⁄10 would recommend her. I promise you won’t regret it!

i went to the school today for color work… i realize its a school but with a phase 2student who is graduating in 2 month you expect some level of knowledge… this girls work was sooooo sloppy the hair color was all over my forehead ears neck the foils were all crumpled then she asked the other student to open the foils and add more them she starts slopping on more she knocked over the color then had teacher go make more the teacher says you know we charge 10.00 a bowl of color i just looked at here… needless to say the result was horrendous the teacher says well thats why you sign a waiver… are you fucking kidding me … the girl didn’t give a rats ass about the work she did… and neither did her instructor… shame on on paul mitchell school if John Paul knew what this paces teaches and work that is done he would take his name off the front of the building… No Doubt and the instructor shame on you Ms Cathy you should have fixed it not just stand there…

Came in to get a keratin treatment and a hair cut from Kim #28. This is not my first time at PM school, so I know what to expect– great guidance from the teachers, a great service, a look I’ll love, and keeping in mind that the process takes a bit longer than other hair salons, because the students are there to learn. The entire process took 2 hours, that’s two washes with treatment & drying seat in between and the haircut. I live my new fresh hair that Kim took care of for me(:

The experience we had today was not stellar. The ombré color & cut experience from the past deserves 5 stars. The ombré was amazing! The 2 past men’s and women’s haircuts deserve 3 to 4 stars. The experience today gets 2 because the color and cut were done well. The problem? Did not get what was requested ATALL!!! Requested an ombré but the instructor insisted on not doing red to a bleach/golden color. Ok fine. Dark Purple to a bright red is acceptable. Except it just looks like a really nice dimensional color job. It all looks like a dark purple/red from roots to tip. It look like a flat color inside and becomes«brighter» in the sun. Not only that it was requested to get the hair straightened. Both the student and instructor refused outright to straighten it. The student even said«my father would die to have such beautiful curly hair. It’s so nice I’m not going to straighten it.» This was the icing on the cake. Refusing to straighten hair several times because the hair is so pretty curly. As a side note I called yesterday about 1ish to make today’s appointment. I was given the option of 11am and 2pm. I even said it was a color and cut over the phone before they told me the times available. I picked 11am. Get there at 11 and they said the appointment was at 10! Which is a lie because I repeated the time and day back to the receptionist and she said it was correct. 10 does not sound like 11 when you say it out loud. I will still go back for hair cuts. I just will make sure I get what I want.

Oh my goodness where do I start!!! Never write a review before experience, especially if you are thinking of the school Years back. I went in asked for a specific hair color and provided picture. Also purchased a haircut and provided picture. Did not get anything that I asked, The teacher did not really help the student and kept walking around talking and joking around with other students and other teachers. So, I got scheduled to come next day, they got the color another two times wrong. Yea! Will never go there again! My hair is toast!!!

My outcome and experience exceeded my expectations coming in for my appointment. My student hair stylist was Brittany and she was very professional and awesome. I just told her that I wanted a «sun kissed» look for my highlights. I did mention that I liked the balayage style, but didn’t bring any pictures, because everybody’s hair is different and I didn’t want to be very disappointed if my hair did not look exactly like one picture. Anyways, we decided on a color(7n) and her and her instructor decided on a highlighting technique and level for the bleach she was gonna use. Apparently she had trouble with the color not lifting on other clients she had so she tried a level that was higher than what the instructor suggested. Thank God she did because I never knew my hair could go from pitch black to platinum blonde like ever! My hair was taking forever to lift, so unfortunately she had to transfer me to another student because she had to go to another class. My hair also took forever to tone, so after she handed me off to another student, she wasn’t able to see her work completed :( The other student, Haley, was awesome as well. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. Overall my experience took 3 hours but my color turned out so beautiful. I am definitely coming back to get my roots retouched. The only criticism I have is that some of the highlights are very obviously streaked when I did mention I wanted a balayage, but it’s underneath a top layer of hair so it doesn’t bother me too bad. All in all, I’ll come back again for sure. My hair does not feel dry whatsoever and is not brassy at all.

Ladies, if you’re looking for something new done to your hair that’ll boost your self-esteem, this is the place! I’ve been looking for a place to get my haircut done for quite some time now. I made my appointment on a Tuesday afternoon, for the following day at 5:30PM. Listen up, if you haven’t already read some of the earlier reviews, there is literally no parking close by the business. I left my place around 3:30PM and got there by 4:00PM. All I could find were parking for Chulas, way up in the boondocks. I don’t mind walking, so this was nothing for me. And technically, all of those other businesses with those reserved parking spots can’t LEGALLY tow you. But I’m sure they’ll do it anyway, seeing as they won’t be responsible for paying the fees. So anyways, I read some of the reviews from Unilocal before I even decided to come here. If you have the mindset of being somewhere for a long time, you’ll be okay. Trust me! I also brought a small lunch that I could eat while I waited. Pretty prepared huh?! I got situated with student number 240 who went by the name of T, short for Thon.(Ask for her.) She asked me what I was looking for and I told her I just wanted a change from the dull hair I was carrying around for over a year. I decided to go with a brown color. T stopped her learning leader Jennifer, to ask for her advice before starting on my hair. Overall, I walked in here a plain jane, but I left this place a new woman. I love my new hair, cut and the color just fits so right. I also had a Groupon for $ 29.00! It was worth the money and more.

The people seem nice, but parking around here should be made an olympic sport. No, really. The lot is HUGE, but since the space is for all of the businesses, and they all have spaces blocked off – even though some businesses are overly optimistic about their actual patronage – which results in very little parking that’s actually near the school. After the students and faculty/staff do all of their parking, you’re most likely going to have to park all the way down in Siberia – also known as the other side of Chula’s.(On a side note, there is a strip for parallel parking that runs in front of the school that anyone may use to parallel park.) Once you’ve successfully navigated the parking mishegas, the school itself is pretty cool. Kind of stark decorations-wise, but pleasant, and the staff is mostly pretty friendly. I like most of the students I’ve had, but of course, it’s going to take trial and error to find the student/students that you really connect with. Since my hair is ridiculously unruly(seriously), I need someone who can handle my hair. Unfortunately, my old regular stylist recently moved back home to Detroit, and I am on the hunt for a permanent salon. In the meantime(and in between regular visits to my old stylist), I come here. The students here are fun, personable, and friendly. If you’re worried about them messing up your hair, they’re really good about consulting the teachers on anything big(especially with anything that involves chemicals). I had my hair colored and highlighted a couple of weeks ago, and the teachers stayed nearby in case the student had any questions. See my profile pics, if you’re curious about the end result. :) If you’re particular about who’s doing your hair, you should get a card from the students you like – or at least memorize their student number, so you can request them for a follow-up appointment if you’re so inclined. This tactic actually came in handy last weekend, when I couldn’t be scheduled with my usual student. I’ll share her name if you really want to know, but I don’t want all of you monopolizing her talent and leaving me to fend for myself with my crazy hair. What I really don’t like is the fact that they charge an extra $ 20 to flat iron your hair. It’s not like they pay it to the students for the extra work. So, for a shampoo($ 20) and a flat iron($ 20), you end up paying $ 40, which is close to what it costs for me to have it done by a professional. The trick is to see if you can find a student who will include that service(as they should. See my review of the Paul Mitchell School in Atlanta – they include a shampoo with all of their services, which makes their pricing system AWESOME). Anyway, I do like it here, and there are a lot of services they provide that are a lot cheaper than actual salons.
