I went to this place expecting something delicious, I just had bad experience, the attention was ok but the food taste bad, seems like they reheat yesterday’s chicken, taste like driftwood and the worts is the price! Too expensive for poor quality place. I won’t come back.

Location is pretty bad and from the outside they look pretty ugly, but in my opinion this is the best Peruvian restaurant in Houston good prices, good food, can’t complaint. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Came here on a friday evening right before closing. Was a little lirious about the place since its in a ratty shopping center and the staff did not look peruvian to me. Ordered the lomo saltado made with tenderloin and it was surprising good compared to others around town. They were out of the chicken sadly so i couldnt try that. Had the chicha morada and just thought it was ok. I think it came from a bottle and it wasn’t homemade sadly. Oh well. At least the aji sauce was good enough to drench all over my rice.

This place is so shady and honestly looks a little dangerous but the place is great. I’ve tried Pollo a la Braza in so many places and this one beats all. It isn’t the same as back home but it’s close. The jalea is a bit too oily for my taste but still okay. The service is great. It’s a family owned business. I wish they had a bit more variety like serving causa. Hopefully if business picks up they’ll expand their menu or move to a better location. We pick up pollos from here almost weekly. I definitely recommend giving it a try if the surroundings don’t spook you up a bit.

Simple place. Don’t expect anything fancy. the food is ok. I order the Aji de gallina and a Cebiche. the cebiche was bad but the aji was ok. The serve picarones and they taste good.

My family and I went Sunday following July 28th(Peru’s Independence Day). The restaurant was so busy; however the two waiters were excellent! We loved everthing! My husband loved the cebiche. We had papas rellenas, jalea, salchipapas, pollo a la brasa, lomo saltado, seco de cordero, tallarines con mariscos, and fish. The only thing we missed were picarones. They were not serving picarones that day. Also the portions available were limited. I would have loved to order another cebiche, and order more seco de cordero to go. Overall this restaurant gets better in time. The waitstaff available is limited, however their service is very good. The waitstaff is very nice. Good job! Keep up the good work! Highly recommend it.

In town for the night in Houston(near the airport) and was craving Peruvian cuisine. Thanks to Unilocal i found this place close by and was not disappointed at all ! The tamale was excellent and seco the Cordero delish! I came a little late in the evening and the chicken was sold out! Everything was well done. Highly recommend. The location is not the best but the food is worth it!

Good food, good service shady location. A lot can be done to make this place look brighter and cleaner because after all eating is also about what the eye can see. On the bright side they have the spiciest Aji that I have tried, although I don’t know if that is a good thing because I like to pour the Aji on my Peruvian food.

This is a small resteraunt and nothing fancy especially on the outside. It gets nicer on the inside, but still nothing fancy by any means. The menu is great because it has a lot of peruvian dishes the other couple of peruvian resteraunts don’t have. They might not have everything on the menu available but what the do have is awesome! We used to eat lemon tree pretty often but it looks like that’s about to change. The papa re llena appatizer is going to be all I eat next time it was AWESOME! The way they do their red onions beats any other local peruvian resteraunt by fay. The prices were reasonable and we had a FULL meal for two with desert for right under 40 dollars. I can’t wait to go back!

I think it might be my goal to try all the Peruvian restaurants in Houston. Well, yesterday I went to Pollo Alabraza El Rancho, which by the way is already a mouthful to even say. The place is located in NW Houston in the Aldine area. Maybe not the best place in town to try new foods but we went anyways. I was kinda hesitant at 1st because the place is located by a «massage parlor» and the outside didn’t look so well. Well, we went inside anyways. I has a craving for some Peruvian food. Actually, the place didn’t look so bad once inside. Pleasantly surprised. The menu had typical Peruvian dishes. Pollo alabraza, lomo saltado, arroz chaufa, Papa a la Huancaina, etc. All dishes sounding good, I ordered as an appetizer, Papa al la Huancaina. Which is potatoes served with a bright spicy yellow sauce. The only problem I had, was when I said I wanted it, the waitress said only one of us could order it.(We were a group of 4) We arrived there before the«dinner rush» so I was surprised they only have enough for one person. Papa a la Huancaina is a very typical dish to order with your food. This place is defiantly a mom and pop restaurant. I shared my dish with my BF and the sauce was AWESOME! Really good. For my main dish, I ordered Aji de Gallina. A favorite dish of mine. Aji de Gallina is Chicken stew served witha yellow creamy sauce(different sauce from Papa a la Huancaina) potatoes, and white rice. The dish was good but not awesome or maybe my expectations were really high. I also had my meal with the popular drink, chicha morada which came in a bottle. Now a days all Peruvian restaurants serve it that way instead of making it fresh. Overall, I had a good experience at Pollo Alabraza El Rancho and everybody left full and happy.

First time having Peruvian food at a restaurant usually it’s all friends home cooking. This place is a little bit of your typical hole in the wall but with that goes good food. I recommend the papa relleno and an Inca Cola it won’t take you to Machu Pichu but damn it’s close.

Wanna try sumpin different? Peruvian food! I know, if it is so good, why aren’t there more restaurants serving it? Well, it’s slightly, pleasantly different, but not break-out different. Nevertheless, you should try it at least once, especially you hot sauce variety fanatics. The week after Christmas I needed to eat healthy. Rotisserie chicken. Again. I need something with a twist, so I try the Peruvian style: Pollo a la Brasa(well, it’s the restaurant name, so it must be good, right?) Main: Roasted chicken is mildly spiced, so I add some sauce(see description below) Side included: Salad was just shredded lettuce with ranch, topped with cucumbers Side included: French fries are perfectly cooked Sauce in a bottle: What looks like Chuy’s creamy cilanjtro jalapeño dressing turns out to be much hotter and has a unique peppery flavor. I ask the waitress about it, and she explains it contains a Peruvian pepper called Aji Amarillo(similar to a banana pepper), «black mint»(Huacatay, an Andean herb similar to mint and basil), feta cheese and enough water to make the consistency like ranch dressing. Yehaouch !!(combination of yee-haa and ouch) For a different drink, I try the most popular carbonated drink in Peru, Inca Kola(a combination of an herb called«Hierba Luisa», lemon verbena, guarana and 10 other ‘special plant’ derived flavors). I love the it-must-glow-in-the-dark bright yellow-green-gold color, but it is a bit too sweet for me, and the taste is… well… different. Yet, I would order it again here. See: If you Peruse the menu, you will note some interesting variations in Seafood, Chicken, Beef offerings(as in ‘to you’, not the gods). Some look healthy, and some look less so. Like finding Machu Picchu, this place is hard to find, because it’s on the other side of the well-worn strip center’s sign on 249(West Mount Houston). The service is friendly and prompt(lunch time), and the visible parts are clean, including the kitchen. If only they served complementary plantain chips and their hot sauce, I could Lima cares behind. P. S. They have some occasional Peruvian music and get-togethers here.
