True confession: your humble-yet-infallible reviewer used to work in a Popeye’s – in high school – in the early years of high school, before you could get the big money jobs, like stocking shelves at Albertson’s – so I have real sympathy for actual full-on adults who work at these places for a «living,» but then, sometimes it becomes clear why this is apparently the only kind of job some adults can get. Times like today’s drive-through order experience, for example: «Thank you for choosing Popeye’s, may I take your order please?» «Yes, I’d like the five-piece chicken tenders dinner, please, spicy, with cole slaw and the Mardi Gras Mustard sauce. That’ll be all.» «Do you want the three-piece or the five-piece tenders, sir?» «Five-piece dinner, please, spicy.» «Do you want the combo or the dinner, sir?» «Just the dinner, please.» «Spicy or mild?» «Spicy.» [SMH]. «What side would you like?» [Enunciating with great care]: «Cole slaw.» «So that’s a five-piece spicy tenders dinner with cole slaw, is that right?» [Thinking: «Eureka!”] «Yes, with Mardi Gras mustard sauce, please.» «Please pull to the window.» Ninety seconds later, at the window, after paying: «You want any sauce with that?» «Yes, Mardi Gras Mustard, please.» «Honey Mustard?» «Mardi Gras Mustard, please.» [Drops a couple of packets in the bag and hands it to me], «Thank you.» «Thanks.» A block away, stopped at a traffic light, I have a chance to check the bag. Sure enough: two sauces, both different, neither one Mardi Gras Mustard. «Gotta love it.» El Rauncho Grande.

Come on guys, it’s NOT that bad. Popeyes Fried Chicken. It’s not your go to for a date night, but they serve exactly what you come to expect from any other Popeyes. So if you’re in the mood for crispy fried chicken and seasoned fries then you shouldn’t be disappointed since this joint prepares its chicken like every other Popeyes in the US. Low balling this place is like giving a McD 2 stars and saying you didn’t like the way your Big Mac tasted. It’s not really the bad burger, it’s just that McD doesn’t make the best burgers period. They keep AC pretty cold over here which is great when you’re trying to escape the heat and humidity, but not so great when its kinda chilly outside already. The staff are a little aloof, but how happy would you be if you had to smell fried chicken all day? Cut ‘em a break! They get your order right and your food out pretty quickly. That’s A-OK in my book for a fast food joint. One last comment — they have the choose your own adventure soda machine(the ones where you can pick your combo of soda) so the possibilities are endless if you’ve got a weird craving for a fountain drink.

Upgrade! This location got an upgrade! They redid the whole inside and it’s purty. My coworker and I stop in every now and then when we need a chicken fix and they always come through. The staff is very friendly and they are so funny. Every time we’ve been, the place is clean or they are cleaning so two thumbs up for that. I love spicy chicken and bc they are so busy, their chicken is always fresh. Two two thumbs up!

Ew. Ew. Ew. This store was extra dirty and the employees looked so unprofessional and unkempt. I ordered spicy chicken and it didn’t taste remotely spicy. I’m never coming back to this location.

Louisiana sorta fast… and Louisiana only okay. I got the popcorn shrimp basket recently going through the drive thru… the biscuit and cole slaw were good, but the popcorn shrimp seemed a bit on the dry side. Their sweet tea is Louisiana sweet… so you might need to wash down the sugar with water later on… overall verdict: It’s fast cheap fried cajunish food. It’s Popeye’s.

This location is disgusting. I don’t know how they did it, but they manage to mess up tried-and-true franchise fried chicken repeatedly! My spicy chicken is bland, flavorless, and dry each and every time. My fries are limp and soggy(in a bad way), and my biscuits are chalky. I LOVE that chicken from Popeye’s, but this location mangles the good name to pieces!

Louisiana Fast! But I wanted Louisiana GOOD! Yes their food comes out FAST and CHEAP(2 piece dinner, white meat, biscuit, and a side, for less than 4 bucks), but do I want something fast and bad? I got the spicy chicken and was expecting some good flavor, nope, nada, zilch. Bland as can be, so were the red beans and rice. I was very disappointed and will just stick to frency’s for fried chicken around the area.
