Proguard Self Storage

What a great experience for something NOT very fun to do… pack and store your stuff! I was away for a year, returned, moved back into my house only to sell it 6 weeks later… now I’m moving my stuff back there! The facility is well maintained and the security is great!

Technically, I would give this Proguard Self Storage a 4.5 out of 5 were that an option. There is room for improvement, but the storage facility is a very well run business overall.
Pros:
I have been a client for 4 or 5 years and I have never had a single significant negative event or experience.
The security is as good as any storage facility I have ever used.
The facility is generally spotless and extremely well marked.
The units are climate controlled.
The elevators are large and were operational every time I accessed my storage units.
Many large flatbed dollies are usually readily available at the entrances.
The location is good and accessible, even with sizable moving trucks.
The management team noticed that one of my units had been emptied and contacted me before I brought them the keys and provided my notice to vacate. This pro-​active action saved me one whole month’s rent and showed me that they regularly patrol the halls looking for security flaws!
Cons (All Minor):
The rent is higher than I have paid for storage in the past, but they are a top notch facility.
The rent is raised a small amount every year, so those looking for the cheapest option may not like this company. However, they do offer a discount for longer term contracts.
Recently, they removed large garbage cans that were outside every entrance. I assume this was because a few bad tenants overfilled the cans. However, I found it annoying to carry my garbage in my car to the dumpster because a few bad apples misbehaved.
I have rented as many as 3 storage units. Now I have one. When I vacated the other two units, I only had 2 of 3 keys left. As a result, I lost my key deposits. I understand that a key floating out in the ether is not something they can allow and there is probably a cost in getting new locks. However, I wish there was a lock option that didn’t require tracking keys (a combination lock or better), or that the key deposit was lower. It is hard to track 3 separate keys across a family over a number of years. There has to be a better way.

I rented a unit at Proguard Bellaire/​Meyerland location for 3 years. It is a very nice storage facility. It is very well maintained, clean, secure, and temperature-​controlled. The people working in the office are friendly and helpful. I would recommend this Proguard Self Storage to anyone who needs additional storage. Linda S.

On Tuesday July 14 had an encounter with a horribly rude staffer. Apparently irritated for daring to interrupt her cigarette break by asking how to get out of the gate, she was surly in replying «use the same code as when you came in». When I explained that I followed one of my clients in in order to pick up something from their storage unit, she rudely replied «well maybe you should’ve followed them out «. It took her all of 30 seconds to move her fat ass over to the keypad to punch the correct code. She’d be better suited as a prison guard in Rosharon.

Blenda and her family are the sweetest! This is the cleanest storage facility I’ve ever seen. They do a great job keeping property clean and safe. Very well lit and secure!

Excellent storage facility run by first-​class managers. I visited a couple storage units before choosing this one. It is clean, has great security and is well air conditioned. Sometimes, it seems like moving vans are blocking access along the side, but each time I was able to get my through. On the phone I talked to Bill, then when I got there his wife Blenda helped me out. She was very thorough and went through all the details. The first-​month free only counts if you are booking on June 1 or July 1. Earlier or later, you will have to pay a portion of that month, but then the NEXT month is FREE. Either way, you get a month free. FIVE STARS!

Great storage place, safe, clean and well maintained over all. Blenda, the manager, was extremely nice and helpful. I almost didn’t go to this storage place because of the other Unilocal review, but i am glad that i did because I had a great experience.

Pros:
It’s a very clean and well organized facility with nicely air conditioned units. It was also in a somewhat convenient location when the medical center facility was booked.
Cons:
The facility is owned by a rude couple with no regards to customer service or loyalty. I paid well in advanced for my unit, and the day that I checked out of my unit, I was refused my prorated refund for the days I didn’t use. Why? Because it was September 1^st and to be able to get refunded, I would’ve had to check out on August 31^st (the last day of the month). I would’ve been okay with it if she hadn’t been so rude. Also the fact that it was less than 24 hours since I would’ve been able to get my refund of $ 25, a little leniency would’ve been appropriate in this situation. In addition, I had to call 10 days in advanced to let them know when I was moving out of the unit and the fact that they didn’t notify/​remind me that I should turn in the keys on the 31^st made me think they did it on purpose.
I won’t list all of the encounters I’ve had with this facility, but I will say that there was definitely more than one instance where they spoke to me in a condescending manner.
So even though this is a nice facility, they seem to try and milk you for every penny rather than helping you. If something were to happen to your storage items, I wouldn’t be surprised if their response were, «Too bad, now pay up.»
