Let me preface this by saying that I have had a unit here for 3 years and would have rated this place with 5 stars because there were no problems, until I went to move some stuff yesterday. I have left my things in the storage since I moved to California. Yesterday I went to move some stuff in. Imagine my surprise when I see a gaping hole(approximately 18″ long and 10″ tall) in the back of unit. This hole leads to the back of another unit which after glancing in, I realize is unoccupied. Ok, while this is annoying, it’s no reason to be too upset. Now though, I head on over to the leasing office. I get there and tell them, «Hey, there’s a hole in my unit.» They tell me that they know! «It’s from a guy who didn’t pay rent and got mad his stuff was auctioned off. Happened a couple of weeks ago» OK… so why haven’t you told me? «Oh we just discovered the hole yesterday when we were doing inventory.» So obviously something was wrong here. But at the time it didn’t quite register. After discussing with my wife, we decided to move everything out as it doesn’t feel secure. I ask them how I can cancel my unit. I’m told that I just take the lock and we’re good. They’ll inventory the units and cancel the unit. Well, today, they have canceled the unit which is great. However, this means to me that there is no way they never found the hole which means that they lied to me and that they never meant to inform me of the hole in my unit. I don’t care that there was a hole. Stuff happens. But to not inform me and then to give me such contradictory statements, that is unacceptable.
