Public Storage

I toured this place a couple of days ago and decided not to store here. I called ahead of time and scheduled to come in at a specific time during normal business hours to check it out and make sure I was reserving an appropriate size, and when I arrived, no one was there and the doors were locked. I wasn’t in a rush, so I waited. After 20 minutes or so, I decided to call their corporate line and see if someone could get ahold of the person in charge. They paged the district manager who I guess then got in touch with the (only) employee that was supposed to be at the building. She showed up 10 minutes later. During this 30 minute window, a few other people came and went, also confused about why no one was there during normal hours. The employee in question had been at the bank and seemed confused about why there were people in line waiting for her to get back. I also tried another Public Storage location nearby, made an appointment, and had the same (!) issue the very next day. I’d recommend going with another business, because I don’t know what’s going on with Public Storage.
However, the staff member was friendly and personable and the place did seem secure, so I’ll give it 2 stars. On the other hand, it was pretty dirty, at least in the main building.

It seems that nobody cares how the place is managed. It is extremely dirty, the 2 elevators both make so much noise and shudder so frequently that i do not feel safe riding them, the facilities exterior lights often are out, the security cameras do not seem to work, and they will raise your rental rate every 6 months. Originally when i rented they had carts available to use even after the office closed for the day but in recent times the csrts are only available during office hours. insurance is mandatory and you must use their locks. Their web site is easy to use easy to manage your account.

If you are thinking about storing your things without a worry, I would choose public storage! They have an extremely honest, professional and friendly staff who you can count on!

I was moving to NYC and didn’t know where to put all my stuff. I checked out a couple storage places and the people there were just weird. Came to this place — the people working there were really patient with all my questions. I was worried about my stuff staying here in Texas while I was away– and they reassured me that everything would be taken care of. Really friendly staff!
