Pure

This place was so weird. My boyfriend and I had traveled to Houston for the weekend and passed by this place during the day wondering if they had closed for business totally. At night, there are bouncers in suits and it almost feels like they’re hiding something in there. We were curious so we went inside and got set up with a hookah and some drinks. It was only $ 25 which I thought was a decent price. It was super cloudy, which I’d expect at a hookah bar, but then there were some dancers in a little lounge. Not sure if this is a strip club too? There was a really weird selection of people in here and we just felt totally uncomfortable.

On Friday, September 3^rd, I experienced blatant racism by the door guy and woman accepting cover at the front of Pure. Myself and 2 friends were attempting to meet my girlfriend, who’s sister had rented a table with bottle service in the club. She brought me a 1 sealed wrist band and 2 broken wristbands to try and substitute for the $ 10 cover charge they were asking.
They didn’t allow the use of the broken wristbands even though the party we were meeting only used 9 of the 15 wristbands they purchased, so my 2 friends paid their $ 10 cover. At this point however, they still wouldn’t allow me to use the sealed wristband, with the woman handling cash exclaiming, «You fucking with my money!» repeatedly.
The door man was no better. Despite taking my friends’ money and the sealed wristband I was given, he began pushing us out of the club, his only communication being the words, «SLIDE OUT!» repeated 2 dozen times while jamming his hand into my back. No other personnel at the front of the club intervened, and we left without further incident.
I didn’t get the names of the door guy or the girl at the front because they clearly lacked the ability to communicate effectively, but it was clear from the first look I received to the last shove in the back I got, that I was not welcome at Pure. I cannot confirm if this is a mindset passed along to employees from the top, or if they simply hire the most incompetent people they can find, but don’t waste your time or money on this place.
The next time I go to Pure will be to research a civil rights lawsuit against the owners for neglecting to deter discriminatory practices by their employees. «Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.»

Pretty cool place. And cool music. Friendly bouncers. $ 25 for the hookah and plenty to go for the whole night.

Worse club ever!!! I’m originally from Chicago… And I travel often and this is the worst club by far, I will never spend another dime in this establishment. Went here for a birthday. Was horribly disappointed. Please do not waste your money on the lack of quality service. There are plenty of clubs in Houston that can garner your business. Security team are the worst I’ve ever seen!!!

Celebrated nye here. Had a minor dispute about tables & bottle service, but management acted quickly to resolve the manner. Had a great time, looking forward to visiting again soon.

I would say it has some of the best hookah I’ve smoked in Houston !! Great service ! Hookah last for a while, the bartenders are amazing and owner is great! Would recommend them for a great time and good hookah

Came here on a Friday night with my bf. There were about 10 – 15 other people in there and it was about 12… all females. Actually, it looked like 2 of them were about to go down on each other on the little couches by the bar. mmmmkay
We ordered drinks… the male bartender was robotic and both drinks tasted like virgin versions of what we ordered, but with very real prices lol.
It was a very weird atmosphere. Some people were doing hookah, and there was a girl crawling on the bar, and dry raping her friend. There were a couple of older Indian looking gentlemen standing around, not sure if they worked there or were these girls handlers… lol seriously…
I would never, ever, come back here. It had such a bad vibe, expensive but shitty drinks, and a cover… no thanks!

Great atmosphere, good music and the place is beautiful. Drink prices are on par with other bars i’ve visited in the area. Good place to lounge about and smoke hookah or have a few drink with friends.

Great hookah!!! Nice scenary. Drinks are a bit pricey but this is a nice chill spot. I will be back again.
