I went by today 12÷6÷2015 to try it out. The spot under the sign was gutted and no business was there.

The Texas Brisket kolache is the mother of all kolaches. I can’t wait to go back to Houston to have another one.

I stopped by here after hearing about this place on Taste Spotting. The staff is super friendly and the baked goods are unique. I had three different flavors of pop-tarts and one fried pie. I thought the pie was pretty good and the pop-tarts were fantastic. The crust on the fried pie was a sopapilla style crust, so I can imagine if it wasn’t fresh out of the fryer, it coming out greasy and not so good as in the other review by Jenny S. Luckily, we got there right when they were being pulled out and it was still warm when we finally got to eat it. It was the bourbon peach pie and my husband loved it. I had a fluffer nutter, orange marmalade & marscapone, and mixed berry pop-tart. The crust on these was sooooo good! If you’re ever hungry for a fresh, buttery, pie-crusty crust, then these are for you! They also weren’t outrageously sweet; I was worried about that. We also purchased a jar of the balsamic vinegar strawberry jam. THIS, my friends, was the star of the purchases. Delish!!! Can’t wait to have this over some vanilla ice cream. I love that this place is in my neighborhood and doing something unique and special. I love that it’s a small business and that it satisfies my cravings for some good flaky crusts. Can’t wait to go back and try some other baked goods. :)

1 star for the scone that was really good and another for the friendly staff. The kolaches were not bad but I didn’t like the inedible sausage casing inside the kolache. I had to peel it off and stick it back in the roll. Otherwise the sausage was spicy(a little greasy), the bread was soft, and the cheese was good. The fried pie tasted horrible, like it was fried in old grease. The fruit kolaches were just ok, nothing special. Everything tasted like it came from the same batter. One friend likened it to a Bisquick mix. Bottom line, it was expensive and I will not be returning. It’s unfortunate because they were so friendly and I love to support small local businesses.

The best cinnamon rolls ever. And the kolaches… don’t get me started. All I can say is Wow! The family will be coming back for more.
