So update on my review: we came back to chill on the patio because we enjoyed the owner so much the first time and the friendly atmosphere, kind of felt like home but to my surprise the redneck bartender, old white haired dude, made a comment which I overheard about my husband, who had a very stylish hat because he had been undergoing radiation treatment for his BRAIN TUMOR, and is very self conscious about his hair loss, said: «looks like he just came from the beach»! Really you stupid FUCK. WELL, I called him out on his loud mouth stupid comment. Get your head out of your ass and quit flirting with your possee of regular overages women at the bar and shut your mouth. People like you need to get a life, pop the top on our bevi’s and shut your mouth. Glad my firefighter husband didn’t take your old ass out back and teach you A lesson!

This is a great little place for drinks and watching sports… Very convenient, good prices, and friendly staff

Stop in and grab a beer. You know you want to. And you should because your probably stuck in traffic. 5 stars.

Nice place to walk from hotel. Loved sitting outside and just relaxing. Staff was really friendly. Good spot for simple bar.

This is an awesome little local place. Walked in on a late Saturday afternoon and immediately felt like we were at home. Both the staff and the local patrons were very welcoming. Had several local beers and Cadillac the bartender took awesome care of my elderly mom, figuring out exactly what she wanted to drink. The bar pizza was the best bar pizza I’ve ever had. If I lived Houston, no doubt I’d be a regular.

This place is great. Good service, nice people, lots of tv’s on walls. parking is easy and free. Can’t go wrong with Red River Ice House.

The Red River Ice House might just become my new hangout!!! The staff is over the top friendly and attentive. There is no drama! It’s just a nice place to sit and visit with friends. The inside is cool and clean! There are big screen televisions to watch sports. And, apparently during football season they bring a big screen TV on the patio, too! While there are several things that make this ice house unique, I think my favorite concept is the giant bar-​b-​que pit. As I understand it, from Kelly, the owner, you can bring your own stuff to cook on the pit. If they are cooking already they will cook it for you… or you can bring your own charcoal and meat and cook your own. (BYOM) And, last but not least, I have to make mention of the bathrooms. When the bar initially opened and people would talk about Red River, everyone would mention the bathrooms. I have to say the bathrooms are squeaky clean! Plus, they provide a cup holder in the stalls so you don’t have to leave your drink unattended.
The only thing that I see as a drawback is the location. It’s more difficult to get to if you are coming from the Willowbend neighborhood side. However, if you take 610 to Main it’s much easier to get to the Red River Ice House!
Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a fun ice house experience.

Very fun, chill spot with a nice and friendly crowd. Give it a try. I’ve driven past it so many times and wondered. Finally checked it out and it was fun!

My friends and I love this place! All the bartenders are really welcoming and they remember our names. One bartender even helped me pull a hilarious prank on one of my friends with a remote-​controlled toy rat! The atmosphere is laid back and fun. The restrooms are also really clean which is a BIG plus! We’ve had a lot of great nights there. This is a perfect place for an after-​work drink.

The Red River Ice House is Awesome. I walked here from the South Main RV Park. I wanted to go to a local bar that I felt safe in, well as I walked up the owner was outside on grill and offered me and Oscar a hamburger. The music outside and the pool table inside next to the bar set is amazing. Great place to unwind after a hard days work… I will be back !!

I really like this place! Its a good size and the people working were friendly. Wish they had other food besides pizza though!

I’m in Houston for the weekend for business and being a bar manager in another town this place has really blown me away.
First walked in happily greeted by the owner, found out his name was kelly later on, asked me what I wanted and I received it right away. The beer was extremely cold and the shot I ordered was made properly. He conversed with myself and many other bar guests as they were his best friend, but in a very genuine manner.
Touchtunes music so you can play your own music with house music playing in between. The bathrooms were extremely clean. This is the perfect bar for a beer after a long day with great conversation. Happy hour from 4 – 7 saving you some change! Extremely happy with this bar definitely something everyone needs to check out at some point! Thanks red river and kelly for the great time!

My rodeo committee went here last week after our meeting. I really liked the place, and I had never been here before. I had no problem with parking, although my boots did get a little muddy.
The bathroom was immaculate. Seriously so clean, which is so refreshing when out at a bar. It was a Wednesday night, so outside of our rodeo committee there want a huge crowd. Loved the easy service and laid back atmosphere. It was also a great location for anything associated with Reliant!

Last night we had our first Poultry Auction Committee meeting and our after party was held here. Before I even got there I was really happy with the location being right near NRG. How convenient! There is ample parking. It was a tight squeeze for our rodeo committee, but the owner was out in the parking lot making it work and directing traffic so I heard no complaints.
There are 6 local and/​or craft beers on tap as well as a plethora of your standard liquor choices and also bottled domestics. We tend to fill the tables with bottled domestics at our after parties to keep the bartender free and our costs down, and they were able to accommodate us just fine. There was only 1 bartender last night, he was for sure understaffed and not prepared for our huge crowd (this is common for our first time to come to a bar, they never believe how many will come and how much we will drink) but he did a great job and everyone was happy.
I really enjoyed the jukebox, as it is a TouchTunes, which I have the app for. I was able to choose rodeo committee friendly tunes so that all young and old members were happy, though I feel the volume of the jukebox could have been turned up quite a bit.
The atmosphere is great. Texas themed, great patio area with fire going, nice and casual. The restrooms were nice and clean too! I hope this can be our «new Blanco’s» as we sure do miss that being our go-​to after party spot.

Way to expensive, there is literally 4 people here including me, $ 8.50 shot of jäger, 6.50 captain and coke, there are a lot nicer and cheaper places in this town.

I have always passed by this bar and never realized I have missed one of the best bar just because of my perception of ice houses. The red river ice house is a great bar with a full bar. They offered complimentary snacks, chilli and hot dogs for Monday night football, I have become quite a fan and will be coming back.
*** the crowd that come here is not icehouse crowd, it’s the people from medical center and very friendly crowd.
I m impressed!!! You will be too. Try it to believe it!

This place is awesome! Owner is great. Friendly crowd. This will probably become my go to bar. It’s so close to where I live. I use to go to hunters pub. Not anymore!

The cleanest and nicest neighborhood bar in the city. I have been here several times and Red River never disappoints. The drinks are great and it’s a no fuss kinda place. Great to relax with friends, just grab a drink on the way home from work, or any other occasion you can think of. He also will rent out for parties.
Remember to ask to try Kelly’s CRACKers. They are something you never knew you wanted but after you try them you can’t live without. He also made homemade jerky that I could make a meal out of. His pizza is epic and perfect.
Girls– you know you will go almost anywhere for a drink but when you go to the bathroom you want to feel like you just walked into something chic. Well they don’t disappoint. It’s a clean rustic chic.
Men– where are you going to put you beer when you pee? Don’t worry Mr. Kelly thought of everything; by the urinal and by the sink. I added 2 pics just to prove he thinks of everything.
Live music is phenomenal. The band that was here the first night covered so many artists and never missed a beat and was spot on with the vocals.
I would normally like to keep the diamonds to myself but when you want a bar to succeed you have to share and make sure everyone knows. I’m sure this will not be my last post of this place because there is always something great happening here.

Mr. Kelly is the owner of this little local bar and he is so friendly and nice! We came in a group of like 6 or 8 and he took care of us so well. The bar is brand new but you can already tell they’re relying on word of mouth and hospitality in order to get this place running.
The bathrooms are SUPER CLEAN and Mr. Kelly is proud of it! My group ordered quite a few rounds of drinks, conversed a lot with the great people that come here, and even got a yummy complimentary pizza, thanks Mr. Kelly!
My friends love the beer on tap and he has quite a selection of everything else you can think so. He’s been in this business for some time so he sure knows his stuff.
