Small local gallery. They change exhibits every month to feature a new artist with opening nights the first Saturday of each month. The gallery attendant was very friendly and informative. Nothing intimidating about this gallery. Light, bright, and FUN.

Redbud Gallery is one of my favorites. The compact space packs a punch, showcasing a wide variety of works by emerging artists and modern masters. Owner Gus Kopriva demonstrates his passion for highlighting talented artists(local, national and international) who work in traditional and non-traditional formats. I always find the art at Redbud to be interesting, high quality and accessible. I go to the openings whenever I can.

My least favorite of the 3 galleries on 11th street. Maybe because I had high hopes due to Sergio’s praises or from Max’s(M squared gallery) recommendation. But I was really let down by this gallery. It was really small and the curator basically was non-existant. This directly connected to G gallery so you can always just walk on over there.

The main player on this 11th street triumvirate,(Redbud, G Gallery and Nauhaus) Redbud Gallery always puts on interesting shows. Like any gallery, the artwork can go from very interesting to wtf? The artwork here is usually interesting here though – even if it does make you scratch your head at times. Opening nights can be exciting with all of the luxurious people lifting their plastic wine glasses in homage to the artwork, but I prefer to catch the shows on a quiet weekday. Though the prospect of nabbing one of the Kopriva mother cookies before they run out – might make wading through the crowds worth-while. If you don’t know what the cookies are about, catch an opening night and ask around. If you’re lucky, Gus Kopriva himself will tell you about the cookies – and you can walk away with a smile triggered by the new knowledge.
