Residence Inn

This is not a hotel, it couldn’t have been built for this purpose. It must have been an apartment complex sometime until 1973, and then bought from the hotel. Why do I say 1973, but nothing on the inside or the outside of the place has changed since 1973, including the carpets. It is a full bedroom, living room, kitchen thing. It is not like the hotels you are stayed in with a kitchen however. This is more like that really shady place you lived in that year in college where you had to sell your blood and books for beer money and was paying $ 200 a month in rent and everything broke down.
I slept in the pull out bed… and it pulled out from the wall. I didn’t know those things existed anymore other than crappy comedy televisions shows! The bed was way to firm and way to small (maybe a double twin but much shorter.) Carpet was gross.
So why did I give 2 stars instead of 1? Well they do a «happy hour» from 6 – 7:30 everyday. The day I was there they had beer, wine, soft pretzels, nachos, candies, drinks, and some other small items. I really enjoyed it. It also saved me alot of money by eating for free before going to Reliant Stadium (where food would be $ 7 for soft pretzels). So keep up the happy hour, I enjoyed that.

For one night this place served it’s purpose. The A/​C was a bit noisy and the beds were a little firmer than I normally care for but for one nights sleep and walking distance to the venue, it worked. Not only was the stadium walking distance but many restaurants and stores are as well. The only thing I must warn on is that I got my room for about half price because my friend works for Marriott. I never would have paid what they were asking for that room online.

If you ever have the opportunity to stay at this hotel DO NOT!
Let me tell you I am a professional traveler I stay in hotels up to 220 nights each year… I have seen and heard it all-​and this place takes the award for worst customer service and experience ever!
To kick it off here is a quote from the general manager
«We do things a little differently here, we do not believe the customer is always right, and we are very selective about who we allow to stay with us»
This was an extended stay for me so I was spending 21 nights in this wonderful little slice of hell…
First the laundry room was at least 50% out of service for the entirety of our stay… The manager lied to myself and most of my teammates about this claiming it was always just broken or just getting fixed which it never was!
My team was ever changing but had 12 or more staying at this hotel for a solid month…
The décor and cleanliness was not good and in fact bad for some!
My lock was continually broken until they finally replaced the entire door handle after much persuasion!
The staff was embolden with evil grins and a complete lack of compassion and sincerity when it came to any and all issues at hand!
I could bore you with details of rotten fruit on the breakfast buffet and misguided front desk staff but I will only bore you with the final straw that broke this Unilocalers back!
When I finally was leaving after my 21 days of camping as I called it…(it was like camping only with less customer service)
I left a few items behind (it was a 6AM flight) I realized this before I even left Houston… I called the front desk from the plane…
I detailed 3 items that I left on the fireplace mantle My one week old large bottle of Dsquared Wood Cologne, my Benefiber tablets, and my Esther C…
almost 2 weeks later a parcel post package comes with the fiber and the Esther C as well a couple empty bottles from the bathroom of sun tan lotion… but what was missing My now virtually unavailable and decidedly expensive Dsquared cologne I called and the front desk manager smugly said we are not responsible for lost or stolen items… I called back and left a message for the manager and got no response
No surprise here
