This is a late review because I must have blocked it out of my memory.
In 1999 I was leaving a friends house sober (I had not been drinking) but I was pulled over around 2 am which the officer presumed I had been drinking. He asked how much I had to drink and I told the officer none. He told me to give him my ID and insurance copy pronto or I was going to jail. I handed him my info and then he wrote me 4 bogus tickets. 1. Running a red light which I did not. 2. Speeding — I was not. 3. Not driving with a license. –I had just handed him my license 4. Driving without insurance-​I had handed him a copy of my insurance. So when I read the citation he had issued to me, I asked him why he put this false information down-​He told me if I wanted to play games then he would take me to jail right now. I explained that I was not playing games but asked why he gave me a citation especially when he falsified information. He told me if I wanted to leave then sign the ticket and drive away so I did. The next morning I looked for an attorney and contacted Raymond Scott Rutherford who stated that he handles traffic tickets.
I met Raymond at his office and gave him a copy of my driver’s license and insurance and drew a map of the intersection where I was pulled over. I told Mr. Rutherford what had happened regarding the Abuse of Power from the Officer and how he falsified information pertaining to everything I was cited for and Raymond assured me since I had my driver’s license and insurance then this would be easily resolved.
On the date of the court to fight the bogus claims, Mr. Rutherford asked me to meet him at 1201 Franklin instead of 1400 Lubbock where traffic citations are handled. I asked him why would he want to meet there and he told me that he had another client before my scheduled time for court. I met him at the Criminal Courthouse but instead of just meeting him there, the Judge called my name and asked how I plead. Confused that traffic citations were being handled at the Franklin courthouse, I stated «Not Guilty» while simultaneously Mr. Rutherford announced, «Guilty». I looked at him and asked him what he was doing. The Judge asked if we needed a minute and I answered we most certainly do.
So the Judge directed us to the back conference room where Mr. Rutherford told me that the Judge wanted me in jail and I asked what for? A bogus citation that the crooked cop trumped up? He said plea guilty and pay a fine to avoid jail. I paid a fine and to this day I do not know what the Officer who pulled me over in 1999 actually entered into the system. I asked Mr. Rutherford what the Officer entered and he said he could not give me a copy because it was confidential. Doesn’t that go against Attorney-​client fiduciary agreement? And the fact that Mr. Rutherford tricked me into showing up for a criminal case shows that he is deceitful, and along the same lines him taking money from me when he did not represent me for my best interest shows that he is a crook. This lawyer needs to be dis-​barred and the dirty cop needs to be fired.

I have used Mr. Rutherford’s services for maybe 10yrs… maybe more… and have referred a ton of folks his way because his service has been effective and inexpensive as long as you’re dealing with the City of Houston.
However this time around there was a bit of a SNAFU on my wife’s part for a ticket she received and had Mr. Rutherford handle. My wife simply did not schedule the new court date and did not appear which obviously put her in the bad graces of the court. When she called Mr. Rutherford’s office to see what options she had… and admitted her error… she was met by AN EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional employee of the firm. My wife basically got an earful about it being her problem and not there’s and that she shouldn’t be calling them. The lady was extremely rude and did not care to offer any support or advice whatsoever.
I mean seriously, no matter if I have been a client of theirs for 10+ years or not, this is simple customer service 101 and this lady has no place dealing with clients! This is, after all, their area of expertise and not ours. We have paid our dues and need advice not an earful by some unprofessional, ungrateful employee who forgets who pays the firm and how they get their money!!!

Worst lawyer in Houston, maybe the US. Understaffed law firm that is cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. I used this guy for a speeding ticket and he was useless. Most law firms go on your behalf and take care of the ticket. All he did was waste my time rescheduling court so I ended up wasting at least 4 days of my life sitting with other peole who had better lawyers. His staff of 3, including himself are constantly late to court and leaving you feeling stranded during every court appearance. I had to ask other lawyers and people working at the court questions. He also doesn’t call to remind you of a court date which should be easy to do, esp since I paid them $ 130 to «represent» me in court. Overall terrible experience. Better off going by yourself or taking your senile grandfather to court.

I used Mr. Rutherfords services in the past and he was OK. I only used him again because he was able to get my tickets dismissed. However, yesterday was a different story. I was at fault for the traffic ticket, speeding. After looking at the cost breakdown of the actual ticket and what I paid him. I feel as though I was overcharged to even use his services. I could have handled the ticket without him or the $ 150 I felt that he robbed from me.
I am not an attorney and dont make the six figures im sure he makes. I am sending him a letter including my cost breakdown and let him know how upset I am with him. I feel like he did NOTHING for me and took my money at the same time. I will never use his services, nor recommend him to anyone.
