Friendly service. Clean. Ordered grilled turkey sandwich, BLT, gyro, and Cuban sandwich. All very good. Good onion rings.

this place would not be your first choice to eat unless you worked right next door. but it’s actually really good, the service & food was excellent.

The sandwiches are all good and the gyros are great. But the reason SK stands out is the owner. He singlehandedly gives the place character while making you feel welcome. Come in, order up, make sure you get fries and rest assured that when he’s behind the mic the owner won’t rest until you get a damn good sandwich. «Extra meat for my friend here! Make it good!’

I was so excited to get falafel within 6 minutes of my work! My mind started wandering back to my days studying in London and popping into a little Turkish café where I tried falafel for the first time. This trip down memory lane had my mouth watering and the seismic grumblings of my stomach rushing me out the door. I guess when you hype yourself up then you usually are in for a big fall. The falafel sandwich at Sandwich King was definitely no regal affair. I don’t think even the country peon would eat this. The bread was soggy around the edges, the tomatoes were not fresh and they were also soggy, the hummus was straight bland and borderline sour. The sandwich was topped with ordinary, flavorless chunks of iceberg lettuce. All of this would be okay if the falafel popped. Unfortunately, those beautiful chickpeas were deep DEEP fried to the point of brown, hard charcoals. They had no crispy outside texture with a moist inside. Instead they were bland circles that left a bad taste of the deep fryer in your mouth. The fries were those thick cut steak fries but they also had no flavor. Maybe my beef is with the restaurant industry itself and not Sandwich King but I think it’s ridiculous to even charge for fries. You have to shell out $ 1.65 for a tiny portion of fries at Sandwich King! It’s potatoes. The cheapest food on earth. How can they be allowed to mark it up to $ 1.65? Anyways, if you’re looking for a Mediterranean sandwhich of falafel go elsewhere. If you’re looking for a turkey sandwich, save your money and just make it yourself. I still don’t understand people paying for sandwiches…

Glad I read the Unilocal reviews prior to heading out to lunch. Chose this spot, b/c it is close to work– very friendly staff– I chose the Hot Italian sandwhich– very tasty– the bread was fresh and soft– i really enjoyed it and feel full– I will definitely be back!

This place is tucked away between office buildings just a few blocks off of 290. Great gyros and an awesome Mediterranean Salad plate. If you go for no other reason, then go just to meet the owner! They are only open Monday — Friday for breakfast and lunch. Great spot!

Very charming owner ! reminds me of a seinfeld episode: «No soup for YOU!» The pecan pie is homemade, and so worth it.

Came here for lunch one day after reading the lone review of the other location. I ended up getting the philly cheesesteak since my «Dining on the Cheap in Houston» book recommended it. It was a little different from what I was expecting for a sandwich shop. There’s «Boar’s Head» stuff all over the place… I guess that’s the meat they serve? :P Anyway, the philly was pretty decent… meat, cheese… maybe a few small veggies. Actually, there was a lone pepperoncini on it that complemented it really well. It tasted good enough. My bf got a roast beef sandwich with fries. He wasn’t raving about it, and later said it was just«ok.» They have the fat fries here… not wedges, not really steak, but you know, the kind that look like pudgy fingers. I’d probably come here again, but I wouldn’t be anxious for it.
