Let me start with the good– The receptionist was great. I was having severe jaw pain– I couldn’t close my mouth fully for over a week and it felt like I was dislocating it with every move. I asked her how soon she could see me and she said 8am the next day. Wonderful. Now, the bad– I waited 20 minutes after my appt. time in the chair even though I was the first and only one in the office. I saw Dr. Schroeder walk by, he saw me, and he went in to his office next door and I’m pretty sure he started to read a magazine. When he finally decided to come in, he looked at the questionnaire I filled out, asked me where my pain was, felt my jaw, then sat down and told me in about 30 seconds what it was. He left no time for questions before he was writing a prescription for steroids and walked out the door. I went in for a follow up after my steroids were done and the pain had not subsided. He simply said I would need an injection, but I would have to come back in for that because they had to put me under for it. Then he walked out again. I walked up to the counter almost in tears because I had no clue what I was supposed to do in the mean time, I couldn’t close my mouth, and I was supposed to wait another week until I could take a day off work for surgery?! The nurse didn’t even know what to tell me. After about 10 minutes of explaining to them how much pain I actually was in, they did end up giving me muscle relaxants at my suggestion because they could see I was getting upset. Two days before my appt. for the injection they call to tell me my insurance won’t cover injections. After back and forth with the insurance, they have to submit for pre-approval. She said she would call when she heard back(supposed to be 1 – 2 weeks). More waiting. I never heard back. Good thing the muscle relaxants worked enough where I don’t have to go back!
