This is a very unpretentious business with extremely high quality. I brought in 3 knives to sharpen. I watched and chatted with the owner while he sharpened them, which took about 5 minutes each. I know nothing about knife sharpening, and he clearly explained to me about what he was doing at each step. Now I’ve got much sharper knives than I would have been able to achieve with any home knife sharpener.

I first found Serenity Knives/​Russell while visiting Oxheart’s website. His knives are truly beautiful. I again found Russell here on Unilocal,while searching for knife sharpening. I was very happy to find out he did knife sharpening. I brought my knives, a set of Zwilling J.A. Henckels Professional S, that have been lovingly cared for over the last 5 years, until the past month when my in-​laws abused them.
Russell looked at every edge and knew what to do. When I got my knives back the following day, they weren’t just «sharp», they were «Hattori Hanzō» sharp!
I could not be happier with Russell or his amazing work.

I ran across Russell over a year ago and kept hoping he would make my custom knife designs before he got famous, but the word got out. The chef jungle drums were beating loud and now he is in danger of getting national attention.
In the meantime, I have a wonderful Japanese style chef knife I use every day, a skinning knife and in process, a fish filleting knife.
It was interesting to have the collaboration with a real artist and enthusiast, and learn the thought processes behind such a specialized craft.
Got to the website and browse through his work, it is unique.
For those of you with treasured old knives that need a little work, even just watching him sharpen a blade with the wet stone method is a joy and the results are spectacular.
