Wow. If you are looking for a new spin to your workouts, like a challenge, and are a decent swimmer, then Sgt. h2o combat swim is your dream come true. I’ve been coming here for a week now and while I’m sore after each work out, it’s well worth the money. They have three locations in Houston to choose from, and the one off I-10 and Voss is closest to me. Matthew is the head coach here, and he knows his stuff. You can read all the bios for the coaches on their website if you want to learn more about each one. Combat swim offers classes three days a week– Monday Wednesday and Thursday evenings 8−9pm, in month-long ‘camps’. I was worried before my first visit that the coach would be a little more intense a than I wanted– aka boot camp style– but I’m really happy with how supportive the coach and other campers are. The more seasoned campers are encouraging and try to help us noobs out as much as they can, and us newbies are all pushing each other up and celebrating our small victories. In short, the camaraderie is strong after just one visit. Combat swim is different, but the easiest way I can describe it is this: cross fit in the water. It’s a total body workout without the sweat of working out on land. You’ll get in shape fast, be a stronger swimmer, and build great relationships along the way. Tip: don’t bring weights the first night and bring lots of water to drink!
