This is our new home ice rink. It’s miles from where we live but it is a beautiful facility. It has just been completely refurbished with brand-new surface floor boards everything. Well it needs is a Starbucks or a Krispy Kreme!

I’ve been calling here for 2 weeks at different times of day to find out when stick and puck is, and no one answers the phone. I stopped leaving messages after the first week as no one returns calls. I also thought if I went to their website that there would be information posted, there is, it says they have stick and puck, but no times are listed, so this place overall, so far is completely useless to me. Which is unfortunate as I live ten minutes away. UGGH, please answer the phone or return calls or updates the website, PLLEEEEEEASE

So I went to Sharpstown a week ago just to see what it looks like, and I must say that there have been vast improvements made. The boards no longer slant outwards and the concrete is not showing through the ice surface. That being said, it still looks pretty sketchy from the outside and I was at the information desk looking for info about hockey but was ignored. That means I don’t know if perhaps there are stick and puck or drop in sessions that I could go to. I still don’t think I’d go here after dark, but maybe in the middle of the day.

My husband plays hockey here every once in a while. If he were Unilocaling this, he would probably give it 3 or 4 stars. Mostly, because apparently the ice is GREAT. But, it’s me writing it, not him. I went to watch my husband play here the other day. It was scary going out to my car by myself. The neighborhood could use some gentrification. No but really. I can’t believe I am saying this, but it’s really bad. The arena itself is unkempt both outside and in. Just because the neighborhood is in disarray, doesn’t mean the rink must also be so icky. Bring a HEAVY jacket. They keep the temp set at around 50 degrees. Which is great for the ice, but it’s a might bit cold for us Texans.
