Shi Susan Md

Dr. Susan Shi is an amazing OB/​GYN. She really cares about her patients and spends time with you and listens to your concerns. She delivered both of my boys at the new Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women. I haven’t had a negative experience with her and I’ve never had to wait long to see her. Her partners are wonderful too!

Dr. Shi delivered my first baby 2 years ago. Throughout the pregnancy I found her to be rude, lacked bedside manner, she was overall a person who lacked compassion to others. The biggest issue was my weight gain. My husband said she was direct and to the point and he insisted that she stay as my doctor because he wanted her to deliver our 2^nd baby. It took me 20 months to gain courage to go see her for a well woman exam just the yearly exam woman have. I didn’t want to see her because I still haven’t lost all the weight that I gained during my pregnancy. I could just hear her say, «I told you so».
The day approaches and I’m sitting in the room speaking to the nurse about the current vitamins I am taking. I told her that I saw a doctor for hormone therapy and I am taking a hormone I was lacking. The nurse then told me to undress and wear the robe and Dr. Shi will be in to see me. I’m waiting, wearing the robe on the examination table ands the nurse comes in and say’s Dr. Shi will not see you because you changed doctor care by seeing the other doctor for hormone therapy. I explained that I haven’t seen anyone for well woman care and that I waited this long to see Dr. Shi because we want her to deliver the 2^nd baby when we have one. The nurse kept saying no, she cannot see you. So I asked to speak to Dr. Shi and the nurse went to ask and then came back and said she will not see you. I was horrified and so embarrassed. Keep in mind she delivered my first child. I asked if I can see anyone else in the practice and the nurse said you cannot see anyone else here ever. I couldn’t believe it. I dressed and left the office feeling so awful.
All I can say is that Dr. Susan Shi is someone who has no compassion or love for other human beings. It’s hard to believe she is a mother, someone who is so cold and heartless. This incident was a blessing in disguise. I have already found another doctor who appears to have a heart and who cares about me.

Love her. Knowledgeable, good bedside manner, friendly, but down to earth and straightforward. Incredible training, too.
Her nurse, Karen, is equally awesome.
They both respond REALLY quickly to questions via MyChart.
Only issue is billing. Their billing coordinator leaves a lot to desire. I’ve already had several screw-​ups and have been over-​billed.
