Over priced AF for low quality atmosphere. Place feels like it was half ass put together and no one ever did anything to fix it up. Only went to support a friends music. Would never ever just go here.

The food was great until we saw a large rodent walking across a ceiling pipes. The place was darkly lit and frightening to think what was unseen.

A jewel in the shadow of downtown. The owner, Dominique, saw to it personally that my party was taken care of. Unassuming, laid back, and cozy ambiance. Food is excellent and served to ensure that you don’t leave hungry.

I wanted to do the rest of the world a favor and so I’m sharing my review. I ordered mushroom fries, jalapeño poppers, veggie burger and cheesecake. The quality of the food is so bad that all the taste that remains in your mouth is that of stale oil that has been used over and over again for frying. I could not eat more than 1 from each of the starters. The burger was full of fried veggies that were randomly stuffed in the burger. Could barely eat half. Cheesecake was worse. Honestly, 80% of the food went to waste. I have no idea how this place got 5 star reviews. So sad that I ate such bad food on my last day in Houston. :(

Had a great evening on Friday, July 31,2015! Was looking for a place to eat dinner in the neighborhood and found Skol in Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Upon first look my sister and I were skeptical… on a corner of a strip of stores and off the beat and path of anything fancy. When we went in we were pleasantly surprised! There was a live band playing… and they were jammin’! The food was good! The service from Dominique, Tamera, and Ann was great! They made us feel so welcome! We got there about 8pm just to eat dinner but ended up staying until midnight because the music and atmosphere was so good and we were having such a good time! We were visiting from the Dallas area but definitely will visit Skol again the next time we are in Houston! It is a place that welcomes the young and beautiful up to the grown and sexy!!!

This is a weird, groovy, but ultimately friendly and welcoming place! Visited on a Friday night, had some good salmon salad and chicken platter. Food was above average — definitely home-​cooked and of quality. We also shared a slice of NY cheesecake — homemade. It was excellent.
While I had a Red Stripe, they have a full bar and everyone seemed to be enjoying good cocktails.
Yet, what won me over was the friendliness of the owners! Simply outstanding — they made us feel very welcome in a genuine kind of way.
Live music made everything just sweeter :)
Will be back!

This place is small and quaint; no where near «fancy» or «upscale». It’s the place you want to go to have inexpensive drinks and good eats with no fuss! I’m a big big big service person and they won me over! The bartender, Tamera, I believe was her name was GREAT! She was so personable! There was a Neo Soul meetup group on the Sunday that I tried this venue and although Tamera was the only bartender on staff she handled the crowd’s needs with ease. DJ Newbus was DJ’ing the event and added to the ambiance. I didn’t try an entrée but my girlfriend did and she said that it was delicious. She tried the Tilapia plate. I had a fried mushroom appetizer and it was good as well. I will definitely be going back! Any place with a generous pour and good food gets my vote! And don’t forget the reasonable prices! Sunday brunch has $ 10 or $ 12 bottomless Mimosas.

Love love love this place. I happened upon it while I was taking a walk one day and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they have some of the best no the best burgers in H town. I went back tonight for steak night and was super satisfied with the quality and flavor of their steak. We got 2 salads 2 generous portions of perfectly cooked filet mignon served with the most yummy potatoes and 2 cocktails all for only $ 35.
Now about the service… Tamara and Dominique are both awesome, super friendly and attentive to all your needs.

Doesn’t look like much on the outside but that’s how I usually pick them. Apon entering you would think it’s just another bar but the owner treated us like family. I had the Tilapia sandwich and my wife had the Sampler Platter. The food was spot on delicious.

Cozy atmosphere and delicious food. That salmon was done perfectly for the salmon salad; Excellent! I also thought the toasted bun help put the tilapia sandwich over the top.

Food is good. Get a burger or the catfish. Yum! Drinks are decent, especially if there’s a special or happy hour.

Man service and atmosphere and service go a LONG way, especially when the food is amazing! Dom is AWESOME and the food is fresh and cooked to perfection!
Highly recommend the steak! It’s a really cool unique smaller spot. The ambiance is awesome for a date night!
I highly recommend checking this place out! Added bonus they also have live music on certain nights so take your lady or your guy here for a cool date night!

Nice, nice hidden gem. Great burgers and welcoming environment! Dominique is extremely friendly. Open long hours, so good for lunch and dinner or just drinks.

We went here last nite and they were closing early. But the owner saw this and re opened for us. I have never been treated this way like a VIP the owner and his staff were very nice and courteous. I had the skol burger it was cooked to perfection. My lady had the salmon she loved it as well. They have a good deal on Mondays for steak lovers that I’m anxiously waiting to try out. Can’t pass up deal 2 steaks 2 salads and 2 drinks for 25 bucks.
Definitely will go back again.

A real unassuming hidden gem hole on the wall, to mix metaphors. Divey look strip store, easy to overlook, easy to feel over-​dressed. The initial look is a turn-​off for the Heights crowd, but the food and friendly service merit a solid 5. If you spring for a meal better than deep-​fryer fare, you will be pleasantly surprised. This is the kind of place where they might forget to bring you a paper napkin at first, a bar with no drafts, that doesn’t know what wine they have until they check and realize they don’t have any, where beer comes in a bottle without question, a query about Saint Arnold’s yields a friendly «you like those fancy beers, hunh! We’ve got Shiner!» Cool people; I’ve never been pressured into a celebratory shot at 6 PM.
Dominique was the nicest server I’ve had in my life, no joke. The grilled salmon tastes MUCH, MUCH better than the place looks; I was very surprised. Tender, flakey, great marinade, slight sear, not overdone (some might say underdone … just as good fish should be, if you ask me).
It’s unlike any other place I’ve been in Houston. I felt half like I was in someone’s home rather than a customer at a corporation. Will return.

we ordered burgers which were delicious. Fries were seasoned very well. They were out of soft drinks which is acceptable. Definitely a place to go for a quick bite. Employees and owner Dominique is very friendly.

My friend and I wanted to do lunch and I decided hey I will let her pick the place. So she tells me about this place on Webster that has amazing food. So I’m thinking to myself what on Webster could possibly have good food… so I bit the bullet and went with her to Skol’s. Upon arriving the manager greeted us both like we were family. He took our orders right away. I ordered the tilapia dish and she had the burger. We both cleaned our plates! The food was so amazing and seasoned very well. I enjoyed the music that was playing on the inside and it wasn’t so loud that I wasn’t able to enjoy my conversation while I ate. I will definitely be back!

Interesting place. We went for lunch on a Friday. They were out of Jalepeno poppers and some other things. Most of us ordered burgers. Very good burger, similar to Hubcap’s. Prices are good.

I came here because of the 5 star reviews on Unilocal — but that goes to show that not all reviews are actually reliable.
The location is messy and unclean to say the least.
Apparently they have just moved to the location and pictures were scattered all over the place. Not exactly a very inviting place to have lunch when its so chaotic.
The burger is good but certainly not the best in town — the french fries are a «McCain» type that you would get at in the frozen section of a grocery store sprinkled with some seasoned salt. Not gourmet as they would have you believe.
The cheesecake was similar to those that you can get at any Sam’s or Costco but not as thick nor as good. It was frozen and placed in the microwave before it was served, not the way I normally eat cheesecake.
Dominique has a great personality and is friendly and chatty, but not quite enough to offset the not so good aspects.

Don’t be fooled by the small nature of this place! I have some phenomenal times here! Not only is this a great late-​night hang out spot, this place also has some great grub! I have to say that the BURGER that they serve here is the ABSOLUTE BEST BURGER that I have EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE!!! I’m talking about NATIONWIDE!!! I have NEVER tasted another burger that can come close to this one! When I lived in Houston, every time one of my friends or family came to town, I took them here to taste this burger and EVERYONE has agreed!!! This is not your corporate chain restaurant burger… This is your down-​home burger like yo’ mama cooked ‘em!!! I guarantee that this will be your new burger spot!!! I no longer live in Houston, but this is definitely one of my Top Spots to check-​in to when I get back to my hometown!!!
