Gave this place a second try and it was even more disappointing than the first. What you order is not what you will receive– the cashiers cannot understand anything that is slightly different from the menu. They will charge you extra for anything and everything. Got a $ 10 taco salad. All that was on it was a ton of shredded lettuce and a few pieces of less than average«meat». They would not let me add anything else to the salad but charged me for it. Will not be returning. Stick with Chick fil A in this food court.

I have such a hard time with describing this place. The food is so fresh. It’s like they just made it right there. The prices are really fair and the food is real classic Mexican food. The staff is super friendly and is always glad to help. The food just doesn’t taste like anything.(HUGE caveat here: I can only really speak about breakfast, because I only have been there in the mornings) I keep going back to see if the experience will be different, but it’s always so bland. I end up just dousing my tacos or breakfast burritos in their salsa(which are always super fresh) but kind of just walk away feeling a little confused. I’ve never written a review where I was completely stuck in the middle before, but this is it. Quality ingredients. Prepared super fresh. Great environment. Not a lot of flavor

Everytime I’ve been here they charge me extra for something. The food is decent but nothing special.

Good place for quality Mexican food in the Allen Center area. I usually get the enchiladas(1 beef and 1 cheese) with chile con carne sauce on corn tortillas and charro beans. The charro/borracho beans are spot on, and I love the chili con carne sauce. I like how you can customize your meal. I would give 5 stars, but I’m taking 1 star for not melting my cheese inside the enchilada half the time, and taking another star for price of the meal. For this plate and a drink, it is nearly $ 12 then they charge $ 1.50 for chips, which makes it nearly a $ 14 lunch — Way over the $ 10/average downtown lunch. Another Mexican place in Allen Center does not charge for chips, and they always have a line — where Sophia’s rarely has a a line. If they are betting on quality to keep them around, that is a risk — they should look at pricing. Their neighbor Simon’s does flat pricing with tax on all plates with fountain drink. Consider advertising a combo special each day: Plate with chips and fountain drink — $ 10 including tax. I’m hoping they will stay around.

Not at all good. Mexican food wise it falls short. I had enchiladas(cheese). The sauce was bland and the cheese wasn’t melted. Won’t come here again. Ton of other choices.

I had breakfast here and wasn’t particularly impressed. It didn’t sit well and didn’t seem particularly good value. It seemed unnecessarily greasy and was bland. Perhaps I just got the wrong thing or breakfast isn’t their niche. I’d take a pass.

I had a fajita chicken bowl here for lunch. This place is good and reasonably priced for the tunnel, but overall nothing too special. I’ll probably stop by here occasionally in the future though.

Definition of incompetence is this place for their service ability. The catering people that they hire are the worst. Paid for catering for my floor downtown and they guy misunderstood who he needed to deliver the food to. So upon explaining to Sophia’s employee the situation, he insisted he knew who he was supposed to deliver to. They need to better train their employees in customer service. Feel free to eat there in person. DONOTUSETHEMFORCATERING! You have been warned. Food was paid for… no food arrived.

The beef street tacos were good, but the rice and the beans are pretty average. The full meal with a drink came out to about $ 9 so it’s a great option for lunch downtown.

For anyone reading, please support this business. The tunnel can’t lose them and nor can my addition. Just an update– the lunch«burrito bowl» line is fantastic. Try the pulled chicken(its like a stew or something — i dont know how they make it, but MAN!!)

I went here regularly for breakfast tacos for a while, but I quit going when I went once and it seemed they had changed the cheese to a more processed-tasting cheese. I was hankering for a breakfast taco this morning, so I decided to go back. I remembered the tacos being on the smaller side, so I ordered two: one bacon, egg, and cheese and one chorizo, egg, and cheese. When I got back to my desk I was very surprised when I saw that these tacos were *much* bigger than I remembered! Both tacos were stuffed with freshly scrambled eggs and the chunks of bacon were substantial. The cheese was back to the good cheese I remember, too. :-) One of these tacos was definitely sufficient — I’ll need to remember that next time!

Remember Pacman and the maze? Once you memorize the tunnel pattern, getting here is NO problem :) That being said, this is a really good addition to the food court here! yes, it is 5 blocks from work, but its all in the tunnels and once you work your way past Blinky, Inky and Pinky, you can dodge Clyde and you’re home free to some delicious Mexican food in the tunnels! I’ve been here a couple of times and I can say its the best Mexican food downtown so far — and while you’re paying a bit more than normal, its really good! That being said, it can get expensive for lunch(over $ 9) so be prepared for that. However, it IS that good that I don’t mind. This is NOT Don Julio’s on the street level — its MUCH better. So, if you are looking for a decent place for lunch for Mexican food– stop here. Its good. But remember its tunnel food: only open Mon — Fri. Edit: people asked for what you get for your money: think 1 full styrofoam container full of food– beans, rice and your entrée. Its a food court– its all«to go». Enjoy. PS: can’t find any dots to turn the ghosts into blue ones. Maybe I’ll find that in the tunnels too!

Tucked away in a little corner in the back of the food court at allen center(which is currently being renovated) is a nice little mexican restaurant that open its doors back in December. It is owned by the same group that owns the otto’s restaurants in Downtown(and Katy) and of the upcoming YumYums Asian Hip. They serve both breakfast and lunch. The quality of the food is far superior to any other Tex Mex restaurant that I have been to downtown(and trust me, I have hit pretty much all of them) The food is fresh, colorful, tasty and well presented. My favorites include the«Migas» for breakfast which is basically scrambled eggs with corn tortillas. Their plates are served with beans and potatoes. I have also tried the breakfast tacos, chorizo omelette, and today they had a special, breakfast quesadillas, they were awesome!!! For Lunch they have a burrito bar similar in concept to Mission Burrito or Chipotles, although it does seem like it has as large variety as those places. I have tried their Enchiladas and Tacos al Carbon, both of which have been excellent(come with rice and beans) The food might seem a little bit more expensive than your avg downtown mexican restaurant, specially since some of the plates might seem a little bit smaller, but the quality of the ingridients far outweights the price. There is no comparisson to Ninfas or Don Patron. If you haven’t given it a try, make sure you stop by and let Jorge(GM, very friendly guy) and his team serve you. You won’t be dissapointed you tried it…
