Good staff, nicely stocked for it’s size, impressive wine selections, convenient. It has been recently renovated.

This is definitely not the fanciest Spec’s in Houston but it’ll do the job. Decent selection and fair prices!

This is probably the tightest ship Specs location in Houston. I’ve never had any issues with pricetag/computer ring up inconsistencies. Maybe that’s owing to their compact size, but there hasn’t been anything else out-of-place. The scruffy guy working further back(assuming he’s still there) is very libation literate and will split hairs with you. The fellow up at the register was very impressive when I was trying to track down a certain Saint Martin’s Merlot. The company didn’t carry that line anywhere in Houston but he gave the names of wines it would be wedged between if they did have it, and that pleased me.

Since moving to Houston, I’ve been on an almost exclusive Malbec diet. This little Specs carries an astounding variety of wine, impressive for the size of the store. I love that I can come in and see new varieties on the shelf, every week or every month. They do a really good job of rotating stock. I am also thrilled that their Malbecs range in price from $ 7 to $ 30(on average $ 12 – 16). Very, very reasonable. You’ll find the Gascon to the delicious Finca 8. And every vinter in between. I do a little barely audible«squee» every time I see something new in a reasonable price range. I think they have other things too. Like non-Malbec wines and probably beer /liquor. They rotate in harder to find varietals from lower exporting regions like New Zealand, which is nice. They got your standard Beringer Rose if that’s your thing too. Jared is the house enophile with the big red beard and lumberjack looking fellow. He runs weekly free tastings on Thursdays from 5−8pm. If you want something? He can get it. Though I am still waiting for the Spier Pinotage to make its debut in the store(I look every time I am there! Come on!). So they became my local favorite go-to place, you can’t find everything, but they got a little bit of everything for all.
