The St. Arnold’s Pub Crawl in the Heights is my favorite crawl! This is the most popular of the 3 Saint Arnold’s crawls I have been to(There is also one in Midtown and in Rice Village) I really like the fact that all of the bars are in the same block and there is not as much walking(read: getting lost). The Spring Bock was flowing and delicious(and has a deceptively high 6.4% ABV, be careful!!) $ 4 for a cup, not bad. The lines were long, but went fast and everyone gets a really cool pint. Tips to make your time better: Plan on getting there by 2 – 2:30pm to make sure you get a card. Don’t drive, even if you are the DD. The parking is crazy. Wear sensible shoes/clothes and layers, it got a little chilly at night. Bring Cash. Be patient. Most of the lines are long, but they move quickly and the people in the lines were cool.

WARNING: Sober review of a pub crawl comin on up. Here’s the skinny as regional pub crawls differ. Go to a few bars deemed ok by the Saint Arnolds crew which will have Saint Arnolds on tap. Make sure the first one you go to us within a certain time to get a punch card, then meet up at the last spot for a free pint glass. The Heights SAPC included: BB’s Café(LINE) Christian’s Tailgate(SUPERLINE) Fitzgerald’s(SUPERWRAPPEDAROUNDTHEBUILDINGLINE) Public House Heights Jimmy’s Ice House Little Woodrows(STUPIDCRAYCRAYLINE) — ending at Onion Creek Café at 6PM(UAORUERHGUHGUG) I have been to a few of these and this was my least favorite. They ran out of punch cards to give out at multiple locations within the allotted pick up time and Fitzgeralds, why did I need an arm band? You didn’t have the Dropkick Murphys playing! No one is trying to sneak in and out! It was difficult to buy drinks at most bars for anything other than SA if you didn’t have cash due to what seemed like lack of staffing. And A to E ever-a-y-where. I get that… but it can still be overwhelming. We queued up before 5 to get the glasses at Onion Creek and glad we did. By 5:15, the line was out the door down to one of the neighboring bars on the list. I prefer less folks. More room to breathe. And more availability of wait staff to serve me my tonic and lime to appropriately drive my drinking friends home. An appropriate wrap for the glass should have been, «I did a pub crawl, stood in line everywhere and all I got was this glass.»
