Should we, as customers, be subjected to bad service just because we are in need of a fast, convenient, cheap meal? Are we supposed to overlook obvious health code violations because we chose not to make more of an effort to find a better place to eat? Are we lesser humans, therefore deserve rudeness from the employees? My husband is sitting beside me as I write this review, repeating himself over and over…“No one gives a shit about a bad review of SUBWAY.” But they should!!! 5pm on Sunday. We were in a big hurry and needed a quick meal on the go. There wasn’t a single customer inside and 4.5 employees. Half of an employee, because there was a girl behind the line wearing a tube top, sparkly jeans, high heels, and no hair restraint of any kind or gloves scraping tuna into a container. A Mexican lady started taking my husband’s order. Not sure if she was new to the job or just did not speak a lick of English. My husband, who is not a native English speaker, is patient with people who struggle to understand and speak the language, but this lady was not even trying. She pulls out his bread from the oven, and it looks like hell. It’s falling apart, and he says to me, but loudly enough for everyone to hear«You’d think she could find something a little better looking than that, shit!» I nod, but we are ignored. He orders roasted chicken breast, she turns to another employee for a translation, we were told they are out of chicken at the moment, and so we had to wait for her to go find the chicken. She has to get his cheese order translated, then she puts it in the oven. At this point, usually, the employee would move on to the next customer in line to get their sandwich started. Instead, she just leaned against the counter waiting for the oven to buzz. Let me remind you, there are 3(and a half) other employees here who are leaning against the counter drinking something out of a cup with no lid or straw(health violation), cleaning an oven rack(which took the whole 30 minutes we were there), sitting at a table texting(I gave him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was on break), and the half employee was standing on the side texting. I remain standing at the end of the counter where you are supposed to begin your order, and I was holding a bag of chips. Also, I’ll point out that I have not been acknowledged at all. Not a greeting, not a «we’ll be with you in a minute», nothin. While she finished up his sandwich, I look around the place since the hoochi mama really peaked my concern. I noticed they have the sanitizing bucket and a bottle of cleaner stored on a baking sheet on the bread rack ABOVE the sheets of baked bread. I can’t remember the exact code number for this, but no doubt that this is a huge violation. They also had someone’s iPhone playing very inappropriate rap music. I was not necessarily offended, but shocked that they didn’t have enough sense to turn it off when a customer came in. I wonder if they would’ve thought do so if a child had come in, or if they would just let it go on playing music about fucking bitches. It was undoubtedly rude. My husband’s sandwich is done, and he asks her to please bag the two halves of the sandwich separately. She says ok, but continues to wrap it in one paper and put it in one bag. He raises his voices and is using hand gestures, now obviously irritated with this person who doesn’t understand the basic words associated with her job. She calls over her translator(the guy cleaning the oven rack) and he comes and takes care of it. As he is walking back to his oven rack, he says«Oh. Did you want a sandwich too?» I nod and roll my eyes. The man who was on break, now gets up, runs his hands under some water for 2 seconds, and puts on gloves. He argues with me because I want chicken strips and not the whole chicken breast. What? We get to the veggies, and I ask for parmesan cheese. He starts pouring it on, and I say«That’s good.» He continues pouring. «That’s enough.» He keeps pouring. «Please stop! That’s too much!» Without looking up, he just puts the cheese away as if I have said nothing. I now have on my bitch face, because I am becoming sick to my stomach with anger. I don’t even want to eat this food. As we pay, he has the nerve to get an attitude with us! FORWHAT?! Because we’ve been here for 30 minutes trying to order a fucking sandwich? He is shaking his head, slams down the pen for my husband to sign the receipt, and then raised his voice at us because he forgot to charge us for a combo. It’s not my fault that he did not see me lay down a bag of chips on the counter and pick up a drink cup. They wasted enough of our time, I’ll be damned if I stood there another minute waiting for his incompetent ass to figure out how to use a POS. I shrug and we walk away, while saying loudly«What the fuck was his problem?! What an asshole.» TL;DR Rude employees, dirty store, don’t eat here.
