Did I have lunch at the correct place as everyone else? Because this place was very disappointing. I was excited to try this place from reading other people’s reviews but right after that first bite of chicken… that excitement turned into full disappointment. I ordered the ½ chicken(dark) with 2 sides. I’m pretty sure my food was yesterday’s left over from their dinner shift. Everything was room temp — borderline cold, except my plantains. But the texture of the plantains were so rubbery/chewy as if they were old and they tried to revive it by refrying it. I’m pretty sure that’s what they did. The only thing that was actually decent there was the green and white sauce. The place is sketch but usually good food comes from hole in the walls — not this place. This place is a negative for a second chance.

Hearty rotisserie chicken at a great value. Came in for a family pack of 4 and got a rotisserie chicken along with some large sides. All of which were delicious and tasty. If you are ever on a budget or in the area stop by.

Usually when i come to these kind of places i dont expect to see very nice interior or caring staff I just want to buy some food and leave these hole But what happened today is exceptional case First time came with my wife cauze its not far from our home We ordered chicken legs When the waitress brough them i noticed that the colour doesnt look like they were cooked now I just touchdd the food and the room temperature of the food explained everything I am more than sure that these was left over from previous customer and these stupid people did not even bother themselves to reheat the food again sp the customer want complain Additional evidence was the fries that looked like it was cooked few hours before And the same temperature were the chicken legs That is ridiculous! Dont bring your family here if you dont want to have food poisoning ZEROSTARS!!!

We love this place on nights when Mom needs a night off from cooking. It’s local, it’s fast, and it’s good. You can call in your order for pick-up or delivery, or put your order in through Grub Hub. We like the family option, which you can order with dark(mmm…) or white meat only, if you like. We also get the rice, beans, and pico, which we serve all together like a Peruvian hoppin’ john(for those of you from the deep south). The yuca is also excellent. Patronize local businesses!

Really 3.5 stars. Tl;dr, as long as you go in knowing you came for the food and nothing else, it’s a great place to eat on a budget. – Upon arriving, it seems to be in a not-so-nice looking neighborhood. But it’s a quaint family place on the inside. On ordering, the prices are pretty cheap. There’s no tap water so you’ll have to get bottled water if you dont want anything other beverage. The chicken itself is pretty good. It tastes like home made rotisserie chicken, instead of that store-bought taste. The selection of sides is pretty unique, I personally enjoyed the yuca and plantain sides. There’s not too much to the atmosphere, no music really playing, but there’s a TV going. It’s a good place to eat on a budget when you want some rotisserie chicken or other simple foods. I definitely suggest bringing your own water if you dont want any soft drinks.

Ordered delivery. Food came in about 50 minutes. Flavor was ok, but the chicken, quesadillas, and even the rice were too salty. Coming from a person that likes salty foods that’s saying a lot. I was really excited to try this place after reading all the great reviews, but I’m definitely not ordering from here again.

My first time here & trying so hard to give this local business a chance. First off, this restaurant is CASHONLY. That would have been SO nice to know that as we waited over 30 minutes for our chicken. Apparently we came it at about 6 pm & they sold the last roasted chicken to the customer that came in just before we ordered. I don’t get how you they didn’t have enough of the most ordered item on the menu ready or on hand. I didn’t mind the wait b/c the comped out some yucca fries & plantains with yummy sauces. Staff was nice & apologetic. I will definitely try to TRY this place out again.

This place is very nearby for us, but worlds away. Super Chicken is a casual joint for some decent roasted chicken and Peruvian sides(rice, black beans, plantains, yuca fries) at an excellent price. If you live in the neighborhood, this is probably one of your best options for cheap takeout for the family, and offers more nutritional bang for your buck than local alternatives at the same price point. If I felt comfortable staying to dine here with my family or stopping by after dark, I’d bump it up to 4 stars. Ordinarily I’m pretty adventurous, but add the surrounding Post Oak businesses to the fact that it’s hard to see in through the windows and there’s typically few people inside, well … I prefer my tasty chicken To Go, thank you. I wouldn’t say it’s worth a drive out of the way. But it’s definitely one of the best lunch candidates if you find yourself nearby. And if you live in Meyerland/Westbury, you have to try Super Chicken or else you’re missing out.

I’ll admit, this place is in a sketchy neighborhood. The overall exterior and interior is not quite pleasing. Even the surrounding plaza is questionable but don’t let that stop you from coming. Some hole in the walls are worth it as is this one. I love their quesadillas! Pretty affordable… around $ 5 – 6 I believe and it fills me up more than enough that I could probably share it with someone with a small stomach like myself. The yucca was another favorite of mine. It came out perfectly fried wtih a soft center. Eat em while they’re warm! .

I always pass by this place on the way to work, so today I thought I would give it a try for lunch. I had the #2 plate with ¼ white chicken and plantains and yuca for my sides. The chicken flavor was delicious, but the meat was too dry.(Serves me right for trying to be healthy– next time I’m getting dark meat!) The sides, however, were amaze-balls. The fried yuca had the most addicting salty crunch to it, contrasted by a soft steamy center. The plantains had an equally satisfying sugary crisp that gave way to a delightfully melty core. I can definitely see myself returning for more!

Super Chicken is our«go to» for great roast chicken. It has a lovely smokey flavor that you just don’t get at even the high-end grocery stores. Try the rice and black bean sides. The plantains are great, too. The food is also very reasonably priced. You can get a whole chicken(cut into four pieces) with three large sides for about $ 20. The décor is bare bones and you order at the counter. Don’t be turned off by the shopping center, this food is worth a few pot holes!

Hidden gem of htown and true epitome of hole in the wall. Wife and I tried this place yesterday for the first time and we will definitely be coming back!!! We had a whole chicken with yuca, rice, black beans, and plaintains, and it was sooooo delicious. Great flavor on everything we had! The chicken has so much flavor that you don’t need the spicy green chile sauce they give you, but it does pair really well with the yuca. We also tried their horchata and that was really tasty as well!

Ahhhh… this place is chicken heaven! Once upon a time I used to think Kroger made the best rotisserie and Super chicken proved me wrong. When we entered, there was literally no one inside not even the cashier. This would have made me run away if it wasn’t for the excellent Unilocal reviews. Shortly after a man showed up and took our order. From experiences from places like this, the hubby and I decided to share a half dark chicken meal with yucca, plantains and an extra side of black beans. We got it to go and drove back to the house since it was late. The chicken was amazing! You get 4 large pieces of succulent, properly seasoned meat. The yucca was fried just right and the plantains were decent not mushy. The black beans were also very flavorful. They give you a little green salsa type dip too that will light up your mouth. Overall, the food was delicious! For $ 10 for 2 people we will go back again! I think we’ve found our next favorite Peruvian place!!!

Browsing Unilocal I came across this place… good reviews and it’s not far from me winning! At least I thought. When I got there no one was waiting I was kinda skeptical but what the hell you only live once right! I ordered the ½ chicken dark with yucca and plaintains with a jamaica(drink) the food was decently priced but the drink was over priced. I got my food in about 5⁄10 min… that’s a plus on the wait as soon as I got in the car I opened the plate to check it out and taste it while it was hot since I had to drive home. Hmmmmm well the yuca was hot and fresh. plaintains were hot but I can tell they weren’t fresh and last the chicken was no where close to being fresh! I was maddddd disappointed being that all the reviews I read were good! Now don’t get me wrong I think if it was hot or even warm and not dried out by the heat light it would have been tasty but I guess tonight just wasn’t the night… and another strike the drink was $ 2.99 and they had NO Ice… the lady stated they didn’t bring any(side eye) huh… you have to bring ice to your establishment?! 2nd I ordered my food to go but I wasn’t given utensils to eat with… ummmm maybe it’s finger food… NOT! I may try them again on a drunk night when everything taste good… but at this point in time No Deal!

So this review is directed at the food only. I’ve been craving fried chicken this whole week and when I searchrd, this place came up. It isn’t fried chicken(duh) but I was willing to give it a try. The parking lot is a little run down and the inside is clean but not super fancy. If you’re on this part of Post Oak, are you really looking for fancy? No. Of course you are not. I got the ½ chicken dark with yucca and platanos. I also ordered a side of platanos to go(bc I love platnos) and a pastor taco to try. Chicken was flavorful and moist! Def a great choice. The yucca was delicious but needed a little salt, but so what you got salt at home. Platanos(they give you quite a bit!) and it’s sweet and well fried. I am quite glad I got some more to take home. My only gripes were: 1. Not the best service in the beginning. I walked in and the guy at the desk was on the phone and he didn’t even look at me for like 5 minutes. He finally acknowledged me, I ordered and I got my food in 10 minutes. 2. Pastor taco — I specifically asked if there was cheese on it and I was told yes… care to guess if I got cheese? Spoiler alert: I did not. The meat on the taco was dry and not too tasty. It was literally meat and cilantro and nothing else. I was NOT a fan. Stick to the chicken and sides and prosper. I would pass on the tacos though. All in all, this place will certainly be a part of my rotation, especially for after church meals lol.

Super chicken definitely has the best Peruvian chicken in town, however, it still isn’t as good as the places in the northeast when I lived in DC/Virginia/Maryland. So I’ve both eaten here and have ordered food for delivery. Let’s start with food delivery. The driver has gotten lost half the time that I’ve ordered food, which is crazy considering my apartment complex is just off of a well known intersection which is the reason I had to dock them one star. The quality of the food is great. One time I called for a pickup order and the manager asked me if I could wait about 40 minutes for a fresh batch of a chicken which was really nice of him. He said if I didn’t want to wait he could have it delivered but I ended up just coming by to pick it up. It was the best I’ve had from the place. Service is excellent. Their manager is so friendly and he truly enjoys what he does. I always feel welcome and he is more than happy to explain his entire menu. The chicken itself is pretty good. Not over spiced and it was always tender. Definitely ask if they have a new batch cooking and when it will be ready so you can have it fresh. It reminds me of a rotisserie chicken you can buy anywhere except with some spices. It’s great but I’ve had more authentic Peruvian chicken in other restaurants in the Northeast. For Houston, it’s the closest I’ve found to being authentic. Eat it with the sauces(green and yellow) and it’s delicious! Sides are pretty good as well. My favorite has to be the yuca and the fried plantains. They also have options including French fries, white rice, beans, salsa(pico de gallo). In terms of dessert, I’ve only tried their flan which was not good at all. I would not order that again as it wasn’t creamy at all and slightly overcooked. I’ve tried to order tres leches but they ran out the last two times I’ve ordered which maybe indicates it is good but I haven’t tried it yet. The restaurant itself is in a ghetro/shady plaza. Be careful not to come when it gets dark as there is some sort of club next door and people tend to hangout outside and if you are alone may not be the safest lot. The restaurant looks pretty clean inside everytime I have been but always empty. I think most people just pick up the food or order delivery because of where it is located. Overall I do plan to continue to order their food for delivery, but I don’t plan on dining in. I enjoy their food and their manager is awesome!
