I had my doubts about this sushi place but boy was I wrong. The service was a little rough due to being short-staffed for the evening but the food made up for the short wait and on-edge attitudes. My daughter and I shared the vegetable fried rice and each had the Dancing Roll with cucumber salad(Tako Sunomono)… everything was very good. I’ll definitely return.

Stick with Oiishi next door, cheaper prices and the sushi is more fresh than this place. The waiter took too long to order our food. Parking is limitedz The people working here do not seem to happy. The food was very mediocre. The only the thing I recommend is the Popcorn shrimp and that’s all.

This is a fantastic happy hour sushi place located in the heart of Greenway Plaza on Richmond — right across from Costco. We have eaten here a number of times and never been disappointed. The sushi and rolls are always fresh — the pricing is fair — the drinks are good — the crowd is cool and you will have a great time. The only downside is the parking — which can be a problem when it is busy, since they share it with all of the other places in the strip center. Otherwise, I am a big fan of these folks!

I enjoyed the various items on the happy hour menu, I would definitely be back to try everything else. I ordered the spicy basil wings which were a play on Aka’s and its much spicier here. I forgot the two rolls I ordered on the HH menu but will do another review once I go back since I live near by.

Really good and fresh sushi! I was immensely satisfied with my meal, and so were the two friends who I came with, so it’s definitely reliable sushi. I can’t say it’s the best sushi I’ve ever had, especially in comparison to a lot of the amazing sushi places in Houston, which is really the reason why I’m only giving it 3 stars. They’re supposed to have really good prices — and maybe it’s just because I didn’t come at Happy Hour, but my meal came to about $ 17, which was a little steep for what I was expecting. I ordered the Dragon Roll(soft shell crab, tuna, avocado) and a small salmon avocado roll. Both were very fresh and I had no complaints at all! The Dragon Roll was definitely my favorite and I would happily order it again. The ambiance was also really great — it was all cute and decorated for Christmas and just had a really warm feel to it, which you don’t always get at sushi restaurants. For reliably good sushi, Sushi Wabi will not lead you astray. This place is often compared to Oishii, which is right down the street — I would say that the prices at Oishii are much better, but the ambiance and parking situation are substantially better at Sushi Wabi. Sushi Wabi is also better quality imo, but not so much so that I’d rank it way higher above Oishii. So it really just depends on what you’re looking for, but regardless I would recommend Sushi Wabi for a solid sushi meal!

Not the worst sushi I’ve had and not the best. Sushi Wabi falls under that vast umbrella of so-so Houston sushi places. You should be able to find something you like here, and usually for a fair price, especially during happy hour. Oishi down the street has them beat in regards to price, but Wabi has a more polished interior and faster service/open tables, so it’s a trade off. One big plus for us was that the menu has a picture for just about everything, and they have a ton of rolls listed, so it was helpful to get an idea of what to expect. Fish quality was good enough, nothing tasted off or soggy from the freezer. Rice quality wasn’t anything to write home about but it all came together enough to make for a good sushi meal. Service was friendly and for the most part quick. We arrived fifteen minutes before happy hour ended and they did a great job of reminding us that it was over soon and taking a last happy hour order.(I’ve been to other places that hide for those last few minutes) Important to note, Sushi Wabi is in a strip mall along with another half dozen restaurants, and because of that, parking is awful during peak hours. Prepare for a few laps.

So, the sushi isn’t anything special, BUT it’s a great value. You can get an appetizer and four rolls for around $ 30(if you stay away from their customer created rolls, which are unnecessarily complicated and therefore expensive). If you can afford Uchi-quality sushi everyday, more power to ya. I can’t, so a couple times a month I’m the market for decent, affordable sushi.

I’ve come here a few times, and the quality has been okay(if not just a tad overpriced compared to nearby spots), but today the food was just awful. Unappetizing looking(see my photo) with a mild off flavor, the $ 13 I paid was absolutely untethered to reality. To cap it off, when we got our bill, we noticed the total was higher than what was shown on the menu. We verified this, then were told that«Yes, the prices are updated in our system, but not on the menus.» It might not be the crime of the century taking an extra 45¢ on a sushi roll, but it’s still BS and they weren’t even apologetic. Done with this place.

Always great, fast, and attentive service. They never seem to be busy when we go at night(not sure why), but I’m okay with that! They have pictures of the rolls on their menu and we try a different kind every time. There’s a good variety of interesting«fun» rolls, as well as cheap basic rolls. And their ginger is yummy! Lol. Try sushi wabi!

My check ins do not do this place justice. I have probably been here at least 20 times(just twice in the past three days!). The atmosphere is very laid back and the fish is fresh and the rolls are super creative. Although I do have my favorites(salmon cannonball being one of them), there is always more to try. This is my go-to sushi place and trust me I’ve been to quite a few. Love love love sushi wabi!

I have never tasted such terrible sushi… it’s not a bad place inside but their sushi is just not good at all… the sashimi platter we got was gross, fish was sliced so thick and it was so chewy… all I can say is that they use crappy quality fish and even for the price it’s not worth it Save yourself some money and go else where…

The sushi here is really good. I came here a few weeks ago during HH and was impressed with the food and the sake. I had the gyoza(dumplings) and a salmon roll and a tuna roll. All dishes were flavorful and not too salty. Small in the inside but nice ambiance. Server was attentive and helped me through the menu since it was my first time. Give it a try during HH if you find yourself in the greenway plaza area.

Came in here for dinner with the huz. I read plentiful good reviews and decided to stop here after shopping at the galleria. My experience tonight was overall a 3.5 stars. Service was very good, it was the food that was so so. We probably ordered the wrong dishes. What we ordered: –crabmeat puffs(not that good, the filling was good but the wonton wrap they used isn’t) –chili hamachi(semi thick pieces of yellowtail with ponzu, I liked the dish. Jalapeño gave it a big kick!) –house salad(loved the creamy ginger dressing!!) –baked mussels(i wanted to love it… Just wish they didn’t chopped the mussels into tiny bits…) –sashimi: salmon, yellowtail, and ebi(the portion size of the sashimi are very generous and it’s between 1.25−4.50/piece) –Shaggy roll(I didn’t like it, the flavors didn’t go together) –rock n roll(it was ok, it had cucumbers and shrimp tempura. It was missing eel sauce, so ask for it) So overall, I will come back And try other rolls when I’m not on this diet!

Tiger eye and flying octopus. Hands down were the best rolls I’ve had here. Went on a Sunday after happy hour and this is a location I will return to. The lychee sake was SOGOOD and I’m super happy I got talked out of the apple. The only complaint was that the waitstaff was not frequenting our table enough to take refills and such. But the tiger eye and flying octopus made up for it.

This is definitely my new sushi spot! The food was amazing, service was great, and the prices were fair. This is the first sushi place I’ve tried in this neighborhood and it was the perfect first choice. The décor of the restaurant is like a sushi restaurant in Japan which of course made it feel very authentic. The menu had a good selection and it seemed like they had something for everyone. The sushi selection was amazing. They had numerous sushi rolls and the nigiri/sashimi selection was very good. I had the Wabi Sushi Platter which had 7 pieces of sushi and a California roll. The sushi selection that the chef chose was good, and it all tasted fresh. I added a piece of Tako(octopus) nigiri and it was prepared perfectly. It wasn’t rubbery at all. My girlfriend had the crab puffs and Yakatori. Both were very good, especially the Yakatori. The prices for everything were pretty good considering the perceived quality of the food. My platter cost $ 12.95 but they easily could’ve charged $ 18-$ 20 like other sushi places in town. I highly recommend this restaurant!

If you’re looking for middle of the road sushi, this might be your place. Especially if you find Oishii to be crazy busy and you don’t want to wait. While this restaurant is nicer than its counterpart, and has similar prices, it also has similar quality. I liked most of the sushi pieces on the day I visited, red snapper nigiri, salmon sashimi but didn’t enjoy the saba nigiri or the rolls: mango tango or fuji volcano Mango tango — didn’t taste any mango until I nearly swallowed each piece, instead tasted plenty of cucumber Fuji volcano — not that great either, but was the better of the two. The spicy mayo may have been the best part. On another note, there are so many rolls here and many look or sound pretty good, but I didn’t see one table order the same thing as the next!

I just found my new sushi spot. I first came here cause my friend suggested to go for the happy hour and who wouldn’t want to go for HH? At first glance when walking in, it wasn’t so busy. I’ve gone both during lunch and dinner and it’s never been packed, but then again I went during the weekday. The menu prices is what really drew me to like this place. The sushi rolls, hand rolls, and sashimi are so cheap! It starts around $ 1.25 for sashimi to $ 3 for rolls. And the rolls aren’t small and tiny. It’s literally the perfect size. I have yet to try their entrée dishes but I just can’t help but only get the sushi and much of it since it’s so cheap. For a place that’s in the area of upper Kirby and close to UH, I’d rather go here than possibly Bellaire or any other place.

Dined here for happy hour on Friday. We got here relatively early, so it wasn’t crowded at all. We were able to sit in a booth along the wall. The restaurant itself is small and has a fishy smell. I’m not sure if it’s because of the proximity to LA Crawfish or the abundance of seafood, but it’s definitely a drawback. The décor and layout isn’t the best, but if you’re not big on ambiance that won’t matter. We started off with saki and beer. I ordered 1 piece of yellowtail and salmon sushi, both very fresh. My girlfriend isn’t comfortable with the idea of raw sushi, so she ordered the crunch roll, which she enjoyed. I tried the Boston roll and absolutely loved it. The service was good and our waiter was very polite and attentive. I would come back again for happy hour.

Sushi wabi is not one of those places everyone in town is dying to try, but it should be! It’s sits in lot on Richmond, in the greenway area. Parking can be tough on Saturday nights as there are many restaurants in the strip. I always start with edamame and house salad. My favorite roll is the samurai. I have had the firecracker which is surprisingly spicy. The fried cheesecake for dessert is good but very heavy, as expected. The mango mochi is nice and light after all the sushi you will have. Prices are also good! They have a lot of sashimi options as well, If you’re into that. Make a reservation if you have a big party.

I’ve been spoiled by my favorite sushi restaurant in Phoenix. the quality of fish at other sushi restaurants just does not compare! I found the tuna here to be a bit dry and it tasted a little metallic, like it had been sitting around a while. even the salmon did not taste that buttery. what I did like was the wasabi shu mai appetizer and the agedashi tofu appetizer. those both tasted excellent! I also liked that they came around and poured refills of the green tea. however, I would not come back for the fish.
