Service was poor. Shrimp apps were good. Pork chop was very tasty. Tiramisu was frozen. Doubtful I come back

I ate lunch at Table 7 with a friends’ graduation party in December.(She reserved seating so service was decent). I ordered an Angus burger with steak fries for about $ 8& $ 2 for a fountain drink for lunch. It was good quality meat & a tasty sweet bun but, not great enough for me to pay $ 10 for it & unseasoned fries again. I really like the décor & ambiance so, I tried Table 7 again for valentine’s dinner on a Saturday night. It wasn’t crowded but it wasn’t dead either. The hostess seated us immediately. We were offered drinks & placed our order. My husband & I ordered salads & split a shrimp & capers pizza(DELICIOUS). The recipe is worth the price, but I will not spend $ 12 for the pizza again it only had 8 small slices & we had to find cheaper food after we left that fit our budget. What really took Table 7 from ok, to I’m not coming back was after we ate our meal the waiter disappeared so we couldn’t get our checks. Then after he did bring it we waited even longer. It wasn’t crowded so that ticked me off since I was still hungry after spending over $ 30.

I hate to give this place a 3 star rating however, the service was just that bad. Some girlfriends and I went on an Friday evening to grab a bite to eat. When we were seated it took15mins for the waiter to bring us water and another 20mins to get our drinks. The place was not packed so the waiter should have been prompt… The music was so loud we could not hear each other talk. Now, the food was pretty good. None of us had complaints on the food which is why I give it a 3 star rating. Their Kobe Beef Burger & their Spinach Dip were amazing. The service was just slow and horrible. This place needs to step up their Customer Service soon!!!

My friends and I came here for a Sunday afternoon brunch. We chose this place because it is usually not very crowded, except on this particular day, this was not the case. It was very crowded and they only had one person waiting on the entire dining area. Needless to say, we got very poor service and had to wait 30+ minutes to get a drink. At this point, we hadn’t been given menus and had to ask for them. We decided the service was too poor to order food and at the rate we were going we’d never get to eat.

Unorganized… inept…not really sure what to call it, but this restaurant just did not have its act together. We came here on a Saturday night for my friend’s birthday. We had a group of 16 people. Upon arriving, I noted that there was no host to greet us at the door or anyone at all around(this would be the theme of the night…), which I found unusual. I also noticed that the restaurant was relatively empty for 7:30 on a Saturday, especially in this booming part of town. Once we all got seated, it took quite awhile for someone to come around and take our drink orders. A few of us ordered dirty martinis, I requested Absolut, they were out — strange, Skyy, they were out — also strange, so the«waitress»(I put this in quotes b/c I’m not really sure if she was actually our waitress or not) suggested Ciroc vodka(yes, the grape infused vodka) for the martinis. I thought this was a strange suggestion to be mixed with olive juice, but she insisted that it was not grape infused. We took her suggestion and yes, we were right, it was grape-ish vodka and olive juice… you can imagine how that tasted… Another friend ordered a mojito and was told that the bartender didn’t know how to make one — weird. I started sensing that this was going to be an unusual dining experience. We ordered the food and everyone’s orders came out pretty much correct(much to my surprise) I had the foie gras sausage pizza. To my disappointment I couldn’t really taste the foie gras in the sausage, but the overall taste was pretty good. My boyfriend had the boar sausage pizza, it was actually really good, better than mine. And the food prices were pretty reasonable. Throughout the whole dining experience, I couldn’t really tell who our waiter was. It seemed like there were different people helping out, but no one ever really took control and they were hard to find when we needed something. Getting a drink was kind of difficult as well. At one point we ordered drinks from the random guy and he brought them to us, then the«waiter» brought us the same drinks. She acted really aggravated that we already had them, like it was our fault. I had brought in a birthday cake I had made. After everyone had eaten, I was getting prepared to get the cake from its hiding spot behind the bar. I kept waiting for them to come bus the entrée plates off the table. Finally, I had to get up and practically walk into the kitchen to find our waitress since there was absolutely no one to ask about it. She asked if I was ready for the cake plates and I said yes, but that there were still entrée plates on the table. She looked at the table and said, «well, yeah, but not a lot». I was a waiter for 5 years and I know that entrée plates should be cleared before dessert was served. Finally, I went to get the cake and started cutting it, she had only brought 12 plates and forks for a table of 16. Once again there was no one around to get additional plates and forks from so I had to go back into the kitchen to grab some extra ones. After we finished the meal(around 10:30), we were all standing around chatting when the manager or bartender started yelling«restaurant’s closed». I cannot imagine ever kicking someone out of a restaurant at 10:30 on a Saturday. Overall, this experience may have been acceptable for a brand new restaurant trying to get their act together. However, the utter confusion and disorganization from this restaurant was inexcusable. I feel like they tried to be accommodating and nice, but they just couldn’t quite get it. The overall experience was just unusual altogether. It was like they had never had a group of 16 people before. They did split our checks without complaining, I thought that was nice… I have no desire to come back and neither does anyone else in our group. I will stick to Block 7 across the street, much better choice.

Came here for Sunday brunch, where I believe they have bottomless mimosas for $ 6. Our mistake was trying to get our monies’ worth on the mimosas before the food came. I ingested enough Vitamin C to last a lifetime. My shrimp appetizer was pretty good, but the rest of the food, e.g. omelets, burgers, wasn’t too memorable. But if you want to just chill out on the patio outside on a nice day while trying to piece together events of the previous night, you could do worse than this place.

First visit was a bit unplanned… a certain red fowl-themed restaurant nearby admitted to a 45 minute wait and we were not having it. So… Table 7’s convenient proximity made it work. Also — they have great parking, considering their location. The food gets a B-. The major issue I had with it was the fact that what is described on the menu may not be even close to what is actually served. While the food is cooked properly, you may be surprised by what actually arrives at your plate. For around $ 20 per entrée, I would expect to see some continuity between the menu and the kitchen. Just saying… Worth noting: a great thing about this place is the half-price bottles on Monday and Tuesday. We ordered a bottle that wasn’t in stock and they did the right thing by offering us something better for the same price. I will follow up on our charismatic(though a bit aloof) waitress’ suggestion to check out their sister restaurant downtown for brunch sometime. Will I come back? Probably not, unless said first choice can’t seat us in 20 minutes or less.

I would really like to give Table 7 more stars as this was our 2nd visit. We went with friends to brunch twice. The first visit was fine as they were not busy, but the second time they were slammed with a large table. They wanted to cram us in an area which would have been very uncomfortable for us and the people around us-just too close. We asked for a table in an area that was completely open and he did, being very irritated about it. This server made it very clear that this was not his section. In fact it was an unassigned section. I’ve worked in restaurants before and this table was not far from his section — he could have easily helped us. I feel we weren’t being unreasonable to ask to sit somewhere else. We sat for a while as they figured out who would help us. Decent food and we were able to get decent service once the manager decided to help us. This place is walking distance from our home, but with all of the other options I would rather go elsewhere for much better service. While the other places around the area are usually packed Table 7 is rarely busy.

I bought a Groupon(I am using this term in its generic meaning) thinking that this establishment was connected with Block 7 one block away — unfortunately it was not. The building and décor was quite pleasant and made it a comfortable place to eat. We went on a Saturday, for lunch, so I found it a bit odd that only one other table was seated and a few people at the bar. The menu looked very exciting and was reasonably priced. We ordered the Melon Caprese and the Crabcakes as an appetizer and the Ahi Tuna sandwich and Kobe beef burger as our main entrée. The Melon Caprese looked and tasted as if it had spent the last night in the fridge, which was odd given the time that it took to get to the table. The crabcakes where nothing special, essentially similar to the ones you would get at Costco in the frozen department — although the remoulade sauce on top of the crabcakes was quite tasty. We had both opted for the naan bread as the bread of choice for our sandwiches but I am not sure that the chef knows what naan bread is — cause this seemed more like the pita bread one would buy at the grocery store. The Kobe burger was the most bland food I have had since leaving the military — not a hint of any spices, no salt, no pepper nothing. I understand that the chef wants you to experience the taste of Kobe beef in its original form but this one had no taste whatsoever — zip, zilch, niente(to quote«A Fish Called Wanda»). Unfortunately the Ahi tuna burger was exactly the same — no taste at all — again while I understand that you cannot please all palates at least try to give it some taste. It doesn’t do any good to have a creative menu(which they do have) and then not knowing how to execute the final product. While I feel bad about ragging on a place where I have just received a 50% discount on the food — I suppose the concept of Groupon type discounts is to try out something new. On the other hand it seems that a lot of places use this venue when they are on their last legs — but rather than try to persuade new customers to come in by this advertising method it would make more business sense to serve better food. Do not mistake this restaurant for The Block 7 Wine Company which is on Shepherd instead of Durham — they are very close in location but worlds apart in cuisine.

Enjoy coming here for brunch and lunch. Place is never crowded and service is very friendly and prompt. The décor inside is very cute. Food has always been good. I find their buffalo burger and their open faced sandwiches hit the spot.

Ample parking –that is always a plus considering this side of town. There is a lot in the back, as well as street parking to the right of the building(next to Kicks). It was a Friday night, and it was quite busy but with no waiting time. I noticed a particular smell when I walked in. Not great, but not uninviting either. Just particular. Me and my friend ordered the same –the chicken salad with garlic vinaigrette. It was good, not spectacular. The garlic is not too strong so that shouldn’t stop you from ordering if are on a date-going out later-or trying to impress someone mood. The service was pretty good, always attentive but not annoying, which I like. Overall, it was a nice experience since the location is very convenient if you plan on hitting other places on Washington afterward. I guess I would have to try more items on the menu if I end up going another time.

We were seated at a round booth near the kitchen… kind of like a chef’s table. The manager? was telling us how they might try to go with that idea and have tasting menus… that’s a nice idea. BTW the manager was really attentive the whole time… which was nice. Appetizer: Spinach artichoke dip: i liked it… i especially liked the thick pita chips that it came with. Entrees: Boneless ribeye w/a side of brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes: the steak was okay… kind of tough(maybe because it’s boneless?) we originally ordered the polenta… it was a clump and tasted old. the waitress happily switched it out for the fingerling potatoes… nothing special. Kobe burger: MAN… the sweet bread or whatever bun it came on was delicious. it made the burger THAT much more enjoyable. Dessert: Bread pudding… it was decent, the berries were extremely sour. Overall it was a good experience. I would go back $ 50 for enough food for 3 people.

After trying to get into several restaurants in area and having been told an hour wait, we decided to give this play a try. I was a little nervous about the place since we didn’t see a crowd, but I really glad we tried it. The food and service was excellent! One of our friends had the Kobe burger and it was very good! However, everything that we ordered was really good and the prices are very reasonable. We sat out on the patio area. The general manager came out and greeted us and the waitress was excellent as well. We all four highly recommend this place and will be back again and bring our friends. You really need to give this place a try; you won’t be disappointed. They have been open at this location for 5 months, but we’ve learned they own other restaurants in the Houston area. Don’t get this one confused with the restaurant on Shepherd… This is one is on Durham they sort of have similar names.

Table 7 was really good. I literally just got back from a double date at this place. I think the atmosphere was fine; I wouldn’t decorate my house like it, but it worked for the restaurant. The food was really, really good. I had the Angus burger and steak fries, my girlfriend had boar sausage pizza — both were very, very good! The other two people each got a salad. I didn’t try the salads, but both had nothing but good things to say about them. Even if the negative reviews were unwarranted, Table 7 appears to have taken them to heart and made a concerted effort to correct any issues pertaining to food and service. Give them a try. I know I’ll be going back.

Table 7 is in its decline. I hate to say this because I was so excited about their arrival this winter, but my experience there last night tells me that they are close to being done. I arrived at 7:30 pm on a Thursday night and the place was dead and empty. Maybe 25 guests. My friend and I sat at the bar. Our goal was to share a bottle of wine and get some appetizers or a meal to split. They didn’t have the wine we ordered, but oh well, we moved on. We ordered the beef tenderloin bites and panko shrimp. The shrimp were hard and overcooked. The sauce that went with them was pretty good. The beef was a disaster. Oversauced, overcooked, and had a lot of gristle. The décor is very 80’s and off-putting. Too red in my book. I won’t be back.

Good food, quiet atmosphere(not loud at ALL like someone said — they must be confused with another place). I think it’s a good neighborhood place. Nothing fancy. :) I recommend their brownie and salted caramel ice cream for desert. Yum. Just before Kick’s on Durham(behind Bliss nail salon which is on Shephard). When Cedar Creek is slammed, we go here for quiet.

So disappointed. We went here for an early Friday dinner with friends and it was just one disappointment after another. First, the place is ridiculously LOUD. It was quiet to start with, but that was because we were one of only a few tables in the place at 6:30pm. Once other people started to show up we were honestly Yelling at each other at the table and it was only 4 adults and 2 small kids at the table. Do not go here if you want to hear your dinner companions. Second, the food was mediocre at best. The pork chop was under done and flavorless. The chicken trio had a thick paste on top of it. It was supposed to be a white wine mushroom sauce but it was actually quite nasty. The appetizer ‘lollipops’ were mostly bone with a little fatty meat on the. Third, this place has been open long enough to get their act together. We overheard the table behind us being told that the restaurant was out of menus and they’d have to wait. Take a look at my photo, the place was mostly empty. They also told the other table that the food they had ordered would be prepared differently because of some mix up with the marinara sauce. The other table was not happy. When we arrived there was happy hour, but we only knew this because we had checked online. When I asked about it the answer I was given was unclear and a bit fuzzy. Fourth, we asked if they could make the 3 year old a pizza. We asked what toppings there were and the waiter said they could make something but it would be the chef’s choice. 3 year old children won’t just eat any old thing. We asked again what would come on the pizza and we were told ‘chef’s choice’. We explained it was for the tiny girl sitting in the highchair, but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Just plain strange. Fifth, the lighting in the restaurant was bright-dim-bright-dim-bright-dim over and over. Different employees would walk by the controls and change the lighting. The only really redeeming dish of the evening was the dessert. We had the brownie with salted caramel ice cream. Definitely delicious! I would absolutely not recommend this place. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the dessert was actually good.

Tonight I had a great visit with a good friend over Dinner .She suggested we come here. We both liked our dishes and shared some sorbet. Unfortunately the dining room suddenly was filled with horrible Cigar smoke that made its way in while opening the door to the patio! There is a City ordinance!!! I suggest the Owners/Management to brush up on the law and prohibit smoking within the vicinity of the doors!

I went on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago. The place was empty. I hate to see that because I live in the neighborhood and it’s nice to have some good restaurants around. We had pizzas for apps(1 veggie and 1 duck). Everyone really liked the pizzas. The entrees were a different story. I had the shrimp pasta dish. It was just ok. My husband had the kobe burger. Also just ok. Bottom line: I don’t feel the need to go back.

We came here for their soft opening. Things were a little shakey, but expected with a new joint. It was good to meet Chef Shelley. She made us feel like we were at home. I was really surprised with their pork chop. I shared it with our table of four and everyone agreed that it was so soft that noone could believe that it was a pork chop. I was almost as tender as a baked fish… it was really good! Our appetizer was good and unique. I really appreciate the diverse wine selection. You can find bottles from $ 20 to $ 60. Entrees were priced around $ 15 per dish. Service was a bit off, but I won’t count that against them b/c of their soft opening. I’ll be back to see how things go.

Please do not get this place mixed up with Block7, this is the other restaurant group that likes the #7. Anybody that lives or works downtown might be familiar with a couple of their other concepts District 7, Table 7 Bistro, and now Table Seven Restaurant. It is located on Durham where Rare once was. Unfortunately it has closed, I think the location is easy to miss, but it’s next door to Kicks indoor soccer facility. The first thing you will notice when you walk in is how red the restaurant is. They did a great job with the décor. After you’ve been sitting for a bit you will forget you’re blocks from Washington and next door to an indoor soccer facility. The main dining room is to the left and elevated, towards the back of the dining room they went up another level and I thought this brought a whole new aspect to the restaurant. The bar is to the right with some lounge seating and cocktail tables. The wife was really excited when she saw the menu, she is a big fan of the turkey lasagna at District 7 and when she saw it on the menu she was excited. Unfortunately it was the 4th night they were open and they had decided to take it off the menu. The wife was very sad but did bring it up to the manager, he made a few phone calls and promised next time we are in they would have it. They brought out to the table a Feta, mayonnaise, basil, parsley spread with some flat bread which was delicious. The wife decided to go with the BBQ Duck Pizza. She liked the BBQ sauce and duck on the flat bread. I went with the Mahi Mahi burger. It came on a toasted sour dough bun, a cabbage slaw and a red pepper sauce. I thought it was pretty good. I thought the food and service was A-OK but when the manager took our feedback about the lasagna and told us to please comeback because it will be back on the menu, I thought that was incredible. I also gave it a fourth star because of the price point. While I appreciate the Block7’s, Branch Water’s, I was happy to have a family restaurant at a reasonable price pop up in my neighborhood.
