My husband and I eat here at least once a week. I haven’t had a bad meal here. The staff is always very friendly. The cuisine is more authentic Mexican and not TexMex. Very affordable prices. Plenty of seating.

Im not giving this place 1 star! 10 bucks for a caldo de res and this stuff looked like it was 10yrs old. And i might add it looked like a pond of murky water. 2 bits of carrots 1 half inch of corn that was raw. And a spoonful of meat. Never again will they rob us. 10 thumbs down!

This has been my go-to taco spot for a few years. My favorite is the tacos el bistec and the barbacoa tacos. You also get this free little bean soup that’s so good and they give you a little bowls of fresh chopped onions and cilantro. Get the horchata too if you’re feelin spunky.

If a gave 1star it’s cause I meet one of my best friends here. If you want Cold coffee and bad service with inconsistent food quality this is it. No reason to lie. The hand washing in between preparing foods like coffee, lime cutting, salsa pouring, onion/cilantro cutting and charging you for your food is lacking. As in non insisting! No lie! The coffee use to be good years ago. You can’t really complain cause it falls either on deaf eyes or… Anyhow FYI the napkins come unfolded and I has seen them folded with dirty hands and on unclean surfaces. Waitress eat and Manegent eat and drink on and around food prep area. Even worse they sit to eat while you are eating not far away. Meaning you get to wait on them to finish eating and if they do tend to you their hands aren’t clean! The place has no real competition and wouldn’t change if they did probably. The spent alot on updating look I only wish they were better to waitress and what they have to serve customers so we don’t get the short end.

For what Tacos Del Julio promises, it delivers. These are more taqueria or taco truck style tacos than something like Velvet or Torchys, which makes sense since it IS a taqueria. The food here has never changed my life but I have also never been disappointed.

I was in the mood for Mexican food for lunch and this was somewhat nearby work. I felt bad since the waitress asked me what I wanted to order in Spanish but the last time I spoke in that was in high school. Anyway I said I wanted a large burrito with beef. I wasn’t sure what bean soup they gave me before my order came out but it was actually good. I normally don’t like bean soup to begin with. The burrito wasn’t folded in the usual way but no matter. It was good. Beef tasted great with the avocado. Putting any extra sauce would’ve ruined it for me.

As soon as you walk on you feel the culture. The restaurant had an entailed playing in the front and families enjoying their food. The lady at the front counter was very helpful with my choice and she made sure everything was in my bag before I left. Thanks.

Tacos are pretty decent, you get five with cheese avocado and onions along with hot sauce and beans, I have had tacos with a lot more flavor like taco nazo on Fulton but these will do the job. Not the best not the worst just kind of middle of the road. I will def to back again.

Probably the best tacos you could get in this area, maybe Houston? The meat is not greasy and everything is so fresh. I always get the tacos special, and I’ve never been disappointed. The charro beans make my tummy happy. I love coming here. Forget about the other places if you’re in the area. Grab your Mexican Coke and enjoy some delicious tacos, y’all! Oh…and they almost always only speak Spanish… and you thought those Spanish classes you took on high school were useless.

This is one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants in Houston. Definitely my favorite Mexican Restaurant in the Spring Branch area. I usually order some form of the Trompo. And booooooy I tell you this is some of the best Trompo ever. The avacado are sliced big and everything about it just screams greatness. It’s not greasy it’s not salty its just right. I normally get my orders to go but I have dined in a few times with co workers and friends. They all enjoyed it as well. The staff are nice however many do not speak English well, but that has never been a problem, as they will get someone that understands. Honestly, there is nothing that I can think of that needs to be improved here.

This is the ULTIMATE Mexican restaurant. Cheap prices. Fast service. Authentic cooking. Big portions. What can go wrong??? I ordered their five tacos special: 3 trompo and 2 barbacoa. I also ordered a cup of horchata. Everything was delicious and the portions were more than enough to knock me out for the rest of the day. I will definitely be back!

Great food and great service. They have a variety of flavored Aquas Frescas. We tried the flower one and lemonade. Both delicious. We came for breakfast and the beef and egg tacos were yummy

Last Friday was the 3rd time we visited Tacos del Julio, we are becoming fans of the place. We have been looking for a taco place since our usual place, el Jarro Café, was closed down a while ago. We have only sticked to the same, tacos de trompo, they are amazing. The meat is very well marinated and thinly cut, and when you add greasy tortillas, cilantro, onions and the green salsa, nothing can go wrong. It is hard to order something else. I tried one time the flautas, and they were really good. But was craving my wife’s tacos de trompo. The wait staff is very nice and friendly.

I will be quick and straight to the points: Trompo taco: slides of trompo were even thinner than bacon, paired with extremely greasy tortillas. Green sauce: can’t go wrong with this, except it is slightly spicier than other places. Torta: lettuce, trompo again, tomato and buns. Tasted plain and dry. Chips: kinda thick. I prefer them to be thinner and more crunchy. Complimentary bean soup: very good. Customer service: great! Everyone was very nice and tried their best to satisfy you, even only 1 out of 5 of them can speak English. Overall: not my favorite. I probably won’t come back. Sorry!

I have been on the hunt for the best trompo in Houston and I am pretty sure I found it here. 5 stars alone just for the pork. I took my homie Mariah D.‘s advice and ordered the 400 platter. It comes with a pile of crispy trompo and tender bistek, cheese, sliced avocado and sauteed onions. Their prices have gone up but it was well worth the $ 13.10 price tag. I shared this with my husband and it probably made about 10 tacos. You don’t get beans free with every order as advertised on the menu, which sort of ticked me off but I lived. The trompo was perfection, nicely seasoned, perfectly crispy. Pile it high on a fresh homemade corn tortilla with onions, cilantro, lime and some of their creamy green salsa! I saw a few of their other plates coming out and they looked great! I am itching to get my hands on their flautas! Everything looked pretty authentic. I will say that the prices are a bit high for this area of Spring Branch, but you do get a ton of food. Don’t expect great service, we had to ask several times for items and I didn’t even get a proper plate or set of cutlery of my own. I am willing to look past this just for the trompo tacos. Let’s see how long it is before I am back, I am already craving tacos!

The servers/waitresses don’t speak. English very well so if you have questions they might call someone over! Everyone is really nice, the owner/manager so stopped by our table a few times to check on us.(Not sure which one he is) I ordered trompo tacos, and a torta. My friend really wanted some chips and queso. They don’t offer that but really did the best to accommodate us and gave us chips and refried beans topped with Mexican cheese. Instead of offering chips y salsa, they give you frijoles charros, a small bowl of bean soup. I like that so no complaints about the bean soup! Trompo was a little dry, but sure if it was just that specific day… The corn tortillas were a little greasy. More greasy than other places I tried. The salsa verde, the green sauce on. The table is a little runny, but spicy which will suffice. After those tacos I could barely start on the tortas. So overall, the green sauce is ok a little runny, and trompo a little dry on greasy corn tortillas. But people there are really nice. Thanks for reading my review guys!

I was helping my friend move when she decided to take a break and grab dinner. Since she lived in this area, and she wanted some Mexican food, she suggested this place. She told me about how good the food is and how it’s very authentic. Since, I’m all about good Mexican food. «Let’s go!» I said; and so off me, her, and her boyfriend went driving into the neighborhood she calls«Little Mexico». So, we got to the restaurant, walked in, and sat ourselves down. There were plenty of booth seating. As soon as we sat down, a waitress came handing us the menus(All in Spanish). After looking a while, I just pointed at a picture of tacos that I thought looked good. Well, our orders came… and boy oh boy. They were good! greasy and good! Just the way I love it! My tacos were awesome. The corn tortillas were good. Our waitress was actually REALLY good. She kept coming back to check on us, pouring water, and even had a chat with us for a little bit. I found out that there’s a closer location to me on Westheimer but I’ve been told that the Westheimer location wasn’t as good so I’ve never been. But I’m sure I’ll go there one of these days.
