Great place with even better prices. $ 1.99 margaritas. Regular, mango, raspberry, strawberry. Full bar and good mexican beer selection. Large food portions. 5.99 California burrito. I could only finish half. Very friendly staff. And yes, they speak fluent English. Went to the location at Hogan and Main st. Large with cold AC, big screen TVs. Two salsas: spicy red and deathly hot green. Carrots available upon request.

¡Bien chido! La comida es tan auténtica como México. Proba el ceviche y los molcajetes.

This review is for their newer location, in the small strip mall on North Main and Hogan. Good prices and good food. I can order basically the same meal I do at other Mexican restaurants, but pay 20−30% less for nearly the same quality food, if not the same quality, and occasionally better. Open, airy seating area, lots of windows, and ample parking. I don’t drink, but it seems they also have a full bar. Occasional Karaōke at night. Free chips and 2 kinds of salsa. Great flour and corn tortillas.

Taqueria Abasolo rules. I was definitely the only person in the place who didn’t speak fluent Spanish, which is always a good sign. Chips and salsa were great. Two salsas, one super-hot salsa verde, and one of the creamy avocado-y style that seems to be common in Houston. Each tastier than the other. The California burrito was HUGE. More delicious Tex-Mexy goodness than I could eat in one sitting, and all for less than five bucks. If you are the kind of person who thinks a restaurant should have professional décor, matching furniture, and«ambiance», stay the heck away from Taqueria Abasolo.(And me.) If you like food, though, give them a try.

I passed by this place for six months before stopping in. Glad I did. The food was good although I have no idea what I ordered. Next time I might order their burger because I saw a few people order that– it’s huge. I know large burgers aren’t hard to find in Texas. but this one has ham on it. Unlike a lot of places around here– they take credit card, so I’ll be back.
