The Fish is my favorite sushi restaurant in Houston. Chef Harold makes incredible dishes and their specials menu is constantly changing and always creative. Thursday nights they have reverse happy hour and the prices truly can’t be beat. A few of my favorite dishes/sushi include the Nando roll, Shoi roll, salmon collar and the eighth wonder seafood tower(a must try!). It has a great ambiance, attentive servers and in a good location if you want to go out after dinner!

Not bad… but not amazing. Definitely better places around Houston(and that’s not as expensive)…

Checked this place out last night with my friends. The food was amazingly delicious. I tried the beef ribeye roll(grilled beef and stuffed with avocado), the dynamite shrimp(fried and covered with slightly spicy caviar sauce), and the shrimp o’licious roll. All were absolutely great. Moreover, the place has a good vibe, in a nice location. great for a night out with friends or going on a date. Definitely coming here again!

What an affordable sushi restaurant! Their happy hour is great. Sushi at a good price. The sushi was so fresh too. Their miso soup came out piping hot with lots of tofu and seaweed in it. I got a spider hand roll and some sushi nigiri it tasted so fresh. My mom got the salmon on a bed of arugula salad. The salmon was flavorful and the arugula salad was seasoned just right. The mochi balls also tasted great. They were not too chewy and not too hard. The flavors were light and not overbearing. I would definitely come back here for easy, affordable sushi.

I would say I eat sushi at least once a week, so I am pretty familiar with the quality and service that comes along with eating sushi. In a nut shell, this place is a more casual and inexpensive version of Uptown Sushi(same owners) and its decently priced for the kind of sushi you are getting. Some rolls I would recommend are the Lickitty Split, Millenium, Godzilla & Spiro! Not to mention they have REVERSE happy hour during the week!

Pretty good sushi, I recommend the crab crunch roll. The only complaint is that I feel it’s a little pricy for what you get. It’s good sushi, but it’s not AMAZING. The drinks are a little pricy, and they are not that strong. The reason I go back is the sushi tower they sell($ 22), that’s the only thing worth the price.

Why I’m a fan of The Fish: — Modern décor — modern and clean — Good food — I had sashimi, tuna tartar, truffle fries, shishito peppers, spicy edamame and kobe hot stone — Kobe Hot Stone — 6 slices of heaven — Cold sake — hot sake is always served when I order sake bombs, but The Fish actually serves their sake cold, therefore not making the drink warm — Happy hour and Reverse happy hour — 7 days a week to get cheap sushi, apps and drinks — James Harden — pro bball player for the Houston Rockets eats here prob once a week along with a bunch of his friends

I, simply put, Love the Crap fried rice. i can have it everyday! Probably its my Dominican genes kicking in since we normally eat rice daily, although I truly have not had rice daily since my adolescent years. either way its delicious! The Lychee Martini(rum not vodka) *Dooo minican thing again* was fabulous. Didn’t try much sushi since the rice portion was filing enough. even took some leftover home for a midnight snack. it was a Sunday evening and the place was empty. D.A.T. was our waiter and was super friendly.(yes D. A. T. Dat, he made sure to spell it for us) which worked out great since now I can give him credit for being pretty cool. Will definitely return :)

I was hosting a meet up of Asian Dining group. The location was great in the Midtown area. But it might be hard to find a free parking spot. It was on Sunday November 28th at 7pm. The restaurant had happy hours. We enjoyed happy hour prices. Please check the happy hour menu on the website. We were 8 people group. I ordered Nigiri and Ceviche tacos. — Nigiri, to my surprise, Salmon was excellent. One of the best salmon nigiri. Others, Squid, yellow tail. I liked them. — Ceviche Taco. It was a great food. We loved it. After the meetup, I went to the bar I watched a Houston Rockets game. There were two bars. which were a sushi bar and cocktail bar. I went to the sushi bar. The game was great. I had to order extra sushi. The servers allowed me to stay the bar after i was done with my sushi. They were nice. Rockets won the game. We celebrated our victory together!!! I really loved the restaurant. I recommend everyone to watch sports games there!

Fish fish fish. What happened to you? Your quality has really gone downhill. We had the beef on hotrocks, edamame, salmon sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, yellowtail crudo, beef kimchi fried rice, crab fried rice, salmon sushi, and a sushi roll. The sashimi were not fishy but it was poorly cut. How you cut the fish makes a big difference. Our sashimis ended up being chewy and it had some veins and fish fat on them. Not good. Not good at all. Their yellowtail crudo was sliced thick and chewy. Sushi should not be chewy! Everything else was okay. Not great but passable. The only saving grace for this place is the miso glazed cod. It was tasty but a tad overcooked. For the price you pay you’d rather go to other sushi places. It is pricy. rolls and sashimis are between $ 12 – 20. Another downer is that they charged us a group tip even though we only had 5 girls dining. Service was okay. I guess I haven’t been back for a reason.

Stopped in for happy hour on Thursday which starts at 8pm. Parking was an inconvenience. Expect to pay about $ 5 for the lot or parking garage across the street. The happy hour menu was a little limited and not many roll options. It was nice to sit outside but the service was extremely slow. The outdoor patio is also dog friendly.

The Fish is just OK. Great place to hang out and drink with friends before going out to midtown. Service is always great. The only problem I have here is that the sushi is always inconsistent. Happy hour nigiri being smaller then regular nigiri, I can understand. But when I’m paying $ 18+ for the sashimi, I want more then a couple of thin slices. If you come on a good day, you’ll get nice fat pieces of sashimi. Other then that, everything else is okay. Sushi is mediocre at best. Drinks are great. They always have the best music too! Great for pregaming.

What a great upscale atmosphere without feeling pretentious. I went for lunch and they had great specials and happy hours every day of the week! Amazing quality. My glazed salmon bento with braised veggies instead of the fried brussel sprouts was delicious. Service was more that happy and willing to make you happy.

This was my first trip to The Fish. I was supremely impressed by the service and the fish was also fantastic. When we walked in, we were immediately helped and seated at a table. Our waiter was highly attentive and made sure to give us as much time as we needed to order. After looking over the menu, we decided to order edamame and chicken karaage(Japanese fried chicken). While I thought that the karaage was a little bit small, both were fantastic. The edamame was not over or undercooked — which is a more common offense than you might expect — and the karaage was absolutely delicious. I just wish there had been a little bit more. For my entrée, I ordered a spicy tuna roll as well as a millennium roll. Both were great. The fish tasted extremely fresh and the rolls were a good size. Our waiter made sure to check on us periodically and was quick to bring any other requests(spicy tuna, extra ginger, etc.). Anyone who says that the service isn’t great, hasn’t been here recently. The restaurant seems relatively trendy and has an awesome fish tank behind the sushi bar, which I also enjoyed. Come on Mondays between 5−10pm and you get a giftcard for the amount you spent, so you can come in another night and essentially order it for free — you just pay the tax and tip. When you think about it, it almost makes everything half price. I will definitely be stopping back at The Fish and look forward to trying more of what they have to offer.

SO and I have walked past The Fish so many times that we finally decided to try it for date night. We came early on a Friday night to have a couple of drinks before dinner and it was fairly empty, but quickly filled up. The service was outstanding! Our waitress was so friendly and recommended lots of great rolls for us to try. We tried the Lickitty Split roll and the Nando roll. The Lickitty Split roll was fantastic. Lots of different fish(spicy tuna, crawfish, yellowtail, salmon, and tuna) and the sauce wasn’t overpowering. The Nando was also really good, but not as good as the previous roll. The best selection by far was the Salmon Belly and Fatty Tuna Nigiri. The Fish will definitely be a new restaurant in our date night rotation purely because they have so many interesting rolls to try out!

Visit: 8÷14÷2015, 8:45pm. Food was great. My BF and I ordered the Kobe Hot Rock, Spicy Edamame, a couple rolls, and Chicken Ramen. The service(this is my fourth visit) — was not the best nor even any good. The server didn’t care much for our table other than taking the order… And… that’s it. Our food came at different times and after long waits, and I ended up eating first after a 10 mins of trying to wait for the ramen to show… Then watching my BF eat for the next 15 min… Since I was done, that was a bit awkward. Total wait time for ramen was 25 – 30 min. That’s a little much in my book. I averaged my star rating from all my visits. This one was definitely a one star visit, then the others. 3 stars, maybe 4. I see u this being my last visit to this sushi restaurant. It isn’t niche or special enough from the plethora of sushi restaurants near by(Examples: Blue Fish, Soma, Aka House, Sage 400, Oishii. That’s just a few.) 2.5 stars.

I’m never the one to venture out when it comes to different cuisines. And when I finally do have courage to venture out to different cuisines, it’s almost always a fail. Somehow, my order always ends up coming out wrong! Probably because I’m a vegetarian and always omit things. So, I’ve been to different restaurants where they have sushi and I’ve never enjoyed it. My friend and I decided to take midtown for the night and came across The Fish. Due to my past experiences, I was hesitant to try this restaurant and wanted to play it safe by going to a pizza restaurant. However, I’m so glad I decided to give this place a try! Upon entering the restaurant, the ambiance is very romantic. The dim lighting and the layout is amazing! Luckily, my friend reserved out table and we sat next to window where we can see midtown. Anyways, the server recommended«The Godzilla» roll. And I’m so glad he recommended it. Each bite of the Godzilla roll was amazing. A hint of some kind of herb with jalapeño and avocado! Delicious! BTW, they offer a variety of drinks. I had their new drink called Summer something. It was mixed with vodka, strawberry, basil(I think) and other ingredients. Honestly, it was more of a refresher than anything. But, it was quite tasty! I really enjoyed The Fish. Now, whenever I do crave sushi, I know just the place to go. Even, if I do have to drive all the way from suburbs.

The Fish is a hip sushi restaurant in a cool part of town, but doesn’t quite deliver on satisfying vegetarian fare. I went on a Friday night to celebrate with a few friends. I got duped by a friend into buying a glass of wine at the bar while waiting, but ended up being seated in the back of the restaurant on stools. Note: this place is dark. Is there a sushi restaurant out there that keeps the lights on at night? I ordered the udon bowl with vegetable broth and a vegetarian roll. I honestly don’t remember what roll it was — they offered to make one of their specialty rolls«vegetarian», though no offer was made to cut the cost of the fish out of the price! The udon bowl was pretty spot on. It wasn’t particularly salty, and it wasn’t particularly bland. Filling, just tasty enough, and priced well, I think if I return, I’ll just get the udon bowl again. The vegetable roll was good too, but nothing of the Uchi sort. It made a much better effort, though, than avocado rolls or other«vegetarian» rolls I’ve had in the past.
