Went for Sunday brunch. The food was pretty good, and they have a good selection of draft beer. However, our waitress was a study in indifference, so that three of us got cold food by the time she arrived with it. We sent a set of fries back because they were dead cold and inedible. Water refills, and second drink rounds were all extremely slow, and her demeanor was one of bored indifference. Sad, I think it could have been a lot better.

So on my first day in Houston, after a 3 hour flight, in desperation for caffeine, I of course consulted Unilocal on where I can get some quality brew. I was not disappointed! I came in and the barista instantly offered his help with a drink selection, told me that they roast their own beans, and instantly served me a flat white-well steamed, with beautiful latte art, a little more on the acidic side, but not over-roasted. I liked the ambiance of the place-perfect for a quick meeting or some study time. They also have a bar and food selections. I am satisfied.

The building is in a great location, and I love the view from the inside looking out into downtown. The layout of the building is very nice, and has plenty of seats. The only downfall was that the coffee was gross, and bitter. Both my friend and me got bitter coffee. I tried the Johnny Cash, and it tasted just like his life full of bitterness. I liked the environment, and the customer service was great but maybe I just tired the wrong cup of coffee. I’ll be back to taste more because I’ve heard it so great, but my first impression wasn’t the best.

We walked into the Honeymoon after a few hours of barhopping downtown. I thought that they might have some coffee to help sober us up, but it turns out that they don’t make coffee that late(they had some drip coffee but that was it). The place is gorgeous, but I guess I’m just confused about what it is. They serve food, but only earlier on in the day(no dinner menu or late night eats)? They serve coffee, but only until… I don’t know. So it’s a restaurant/coffee shop in the morning and for brunch, but it’s a bar at night?

The place is beautiful. However, their table I got was dirty(it had mixing sticks on it) and was not cleaned. The macchiato I ordered was the smallest cup I’ve ever seen in my life for it being 3.50. The macchiato tasted so bitter that it wasn’t even enjoyable/or drinkable. I don’t recommend it.

I’ve had this place booked marked for quite some time but decided to give their brunch a try with a couple friends. Very clean and modern place. While I waited for my friends I ordered a chocolate latte which was awesome! The food was delicious I ordered the turkey and avocado with French fries. My friends ordered the same thing and enjoyed it as well. The staff were very warm and welcoming but this places loses one star because our waiter would take awhile to Coke and check on us. We often caught him in the corner laughing and talking with the waitress which was a little irritating. I will definitely return for seconds and order their French toast which also looked delicious.

We stopped in on a Saturday evening and it was quiet with only 2 other tables occupied. It was only service from the bar instead of at the table. However, the experience was all good. We ordered a couple cocktails off the menu which were very good. I ordered the burger and my friend ordered the fried chicken sandwich. We both thought the sandwiches were outstanding. I have read a lot about brunch so I look forward another trip to Honeymoon.

We arrived exactly at 11 am Sunday; the restaurant was half-full, and we decided to sit outside. Everything started swimmingly: we ordered two coffees and received them within minutes. We looked through a delicious sounding brunch menu, decided and waited. We waited and waited. Mutiple people arrived after us(two tables we could see through the window). After waiting and seeing the two tables order, I finally walked inside and found our waiter. This was at approximately 11:25; two employees(the hostess and the runner) were just chatting with their cell phones out at the hostess station. The waiter saw me and asked if everything was okay. ‘We’d like to order now,’ I said. I did, right there at the hostess station. A few minutes later, our waiter came outside and said, ‘I’m sorry. I forgot to take your order.’ The company with me said it was okay, not to worry about it. The two tables that walked in after us received their food and were eating; we could see through the window. Time passed. More time passed. We made jokes about how long it was taking. When I saw one of the tables pay their bill and get up to leave, I walked inside and found our waiter. This was exactly 12:35 pm. He said, ‘the kitchen’s been backed up. Sorry about the wait.‘ At this point the restaurant was maybe a third full. I asked for it to go, and then who I’m assuming was a manager came out and said our food was coming out right now(i’t’s hot,’ he said. ‘Since you guys want it to go, it’ll just take a minute.’) They boxed it up, and we took it to go, leaving with our food at 12:44 pm, almost 2 hours after we arrived. When we got home and ate, the French toast we ordered was delicious. The sausage in the ‘sausage and biscuit’ selection wasn’t cooked all the way through though, only the outside, while the middle remained raw and red. I threw it out, and we shared the french toast. Thanks, Honeymoon!

We had drinks here with friends after seeing the ballet at the Wortham Center(walking distance), and it was so fun! The cocktails are very creative, and if you see one you like, but want to tweak it a bit to your taste, the bartenders are more than happy to do so. The French 75 is light and refreshing, not too sweet and just the perfect amount of bubbles. The old fashion was a hit among our group — one of the best in Houston. The bar itself is unique and inviting, great for a date night or with a crowd. We sat at the bar, which I recommend, so that you can soak up the artistry of the bartenders making all kinds of fancy cocktails. The food menu looked tasty, not a huge offering of items, but all seemed delicious. Hopefully we’ll be back to try it out! Cheers!

Honeymoon is literally down the street from my school, so it’s very easy commuting from UH-Downtown. I love this place. You order coffee and food at the table and pick up your coffee from the bar, with beautiful latte art design Beignets are so good. It comes with powder sugar and Carmel drizzle. Yummy yummy yummy. Honeymoon is a great café just for coffee and sit at the bar with your laptop and get some work/studying done! The ambiance is very calm/great + a variety of people come in from downtown so it’s quite lovely. The use their coffee beans from Boomtown Coffee I believe. Overall great great coffee

Mmmm… quality Boomtown lattes without having to trek out to the Heights! This is sufficient to keep me coming back. I’ve even opted to order a few late night lattes here, knowing I would end up staying awake late into the night. Worth it. It’s hard not to appreciate the cutesy interior. By night, the arches behind the bar are lit with warm yellow lightbulbs, beckoning you to come in for a drink as you stroll along Main St. By day, the café is flooded with natural light, creating the perfect set up for all your Instagramming needs. If you wind up coming here for brunch, get the oyster BLT. It is by far the best item on the menu, particularly if you are more into savory flavors like I am. But if you don’t mind(or maybe even whole-heartedly pursue) monster amounts of sweetness, The Honeymoon serves a challah French toast in a sea of delicious syrup. At the end of the day though, the coffee and ambiance are their true strengths, just as they should be.

cool vibe. coffee. alcohol. food. they roast their own coffee in house… but, their coffee has been around since 2012… in the heights — called«boomtown» today, i had a cortado… which mexicans call a cuban cortadito’s! wish i could have gotten the young dark haired girl’s name that working the register when i walked in to order — because she was clueless. i asked her if she knew the difference between the 3 boomtown whole bean coffee’s they had — she literally said…“um, i dont know. i said, can i see the bella carmona? she was like, what? i said, its the bag of cofffee behind you — she handed it to me. THEN this young guy — barista who was very enthusiastic about coffee walked up and saved the moment… she told him, do we sell this? he was like… of course! she said, i want to go home so im leaving. [bye felicia!] with his knowledge on coffee… i bought the boomtown, gedeb asasa — ethiopian whole bean in comparison… i like the vibe better at the 19th street location in the heights

Arrived for a business meeting and was quickly seated and after this the service was little on the super slow side but was made up by the free cup of Cortado. The Cortado is a small Expresso with less milk. Loved it. Now I was not hungry when I arrived but the menu had several interesting items and I had to try something. Let’s see French Toast or Beinets? I am a sucker for sweets and this place has some good sounding items on the menu. i will return to try other things as soon as I can. ***Note*** A little on the noisy side if needed for a meeting or studying. Also, the staff blends in too well with the patrons so you may have a hard time figuring out the two when you need service.

Boomtown coffee turns this bistro-style teashop/coffeeshop/café/millenial cocktailery into a magical fairyland. They now roast their beans here(the giant roaster is in a room in back, along Congress) and it smells divine. They serve food here, but I’m more into scouring the city for teashops with looseleaf tea. And my compatriot needed to add some caffeine into her system by way of chocolate in a mocha latte. The restroom is down a hallway that has back entrances to a couple of bars. So if you’re looking to ex-cape, be sure to take your purse with you to the bath room. If you’re wasted, you may want to write down the name of the establishment you are hanging out in on the back of your hand. Take a Sharpie!

This café is so cute and I love that the exterior makes me think I’m at a café in New York. The interior is adorable as well. It makes me feel like I could be in a mini burlesque bar because of the lights and mirrors behind the bar. SPICEDCHAI I love this drink. It was so tasty and flavorful. I love the warmth and when you drink it down, the warmth goes all the way into your tummy. It’s definitely a nice drink to get when it’s windy or a little cold outside. The spice and flavor are so heartwarming and definitely the symbol of fall. BREADPUDDING– ice cream, crème anglaise, braided challah, coffee liqueur, and butter cream glaze The bread pudding was nice and sweet. It definitely was a bit more on the sweet side, but if you have some tea or coffee, it’ll definitely taste great together. The inner bread was so moist and soft. I love the flavors and how the ice cream melted into the bread pudding and provided that creamy and flavorful mélange. The coldness mixed with the hotness of the bread pudding was so good and it was like a party in my mouth. I really like the ambiance and i definitely will be back for sure to grab something warm to drink when the climate gets cooler. The location is perfect for a warm drink and a walk around town to enjoy the day.

Coffee here is DELICIOUS. The Crud absolutely tickles me, it’s served iced and infused with honey, vanilla, and chickory, then poured in with half and half. This is my ultimate favorite drink here. In terms of brunch, this place is the definition of heartiness. I split the smoked salmon latkes and Bananas Foster French toast with my friend, and I could barely walk out afterwards. The smoked salmon pieces were piled on top of potato pancakes, topped with poached eggs, and doused in a sauce that was actually rather cold and not piping hot like I expected. Also, one egg oozed the yolk perfectly but the other egg was already over hard. There wasn’t consistency with quality in that dish. The salmon was a little salty and the pancakes didn’t have that golden, crispy edge that I love, but the French toast redeemed the meal. Talk about indulgence – I couldn’t get enough of that vanilla bean whipped cream, it was fragrantly sweet and light. The French toast itself had a wonderful fluffiness thanks to beloved challah bread, and they weren’t kidding about not skimping on the bacon. PRALINE bacon, that is. Imagine butter pecan, caramel, and bacon all together to create a magical combination. Really rich, really laced with sugar. it’s not for the faint of heart! I’d recommend splitting it with someone.

Yummm I came back to Honeymoon almost a year later, and they’ve changed some things! The smoked salmon with latkes now comes over a bed of arugula and tomatoes, and the sauce is less salty. They give more salmon now, which some people might like, but I still think it’s too salty and a little bit unproportional. My friends and I also shared the burger, oyster club, and french toast with praline bacon. Yes, I did just say PRALINEBACON. The french toast was awesome with the thick challah bread, soft bananas, and sweet and salty bacon covered in crunchy pecans. The burger was also really good. It’s a mix of ground beef and buffalo, but it’s super juicy and tender because they cook the burger sous vide style. The side of fries was thick cut and crispy, so that entrée was a winner. The oyster club was forgettable, I think, but then again I’m not a huge fan of oysters. The only problem with Honeymoon is that parking can be difficult since it’s downtown. We had to park quite a few blocks away. We came on a Sunday around 1pm, and it wasn’t too busy, which was a pleasant surprise.

Honeymoon Café is right in the middle of downtown on Congress so it looks out onto the railway. You have to drive around looking for street parking. But cute little place with seating outside and inside and counter space at the bar. Very light and rustic décor. Super cute. Though there was food on the floor and didn’t scream super clean. The French toast was 3 large slabs of challah bread with a banana foster sauce, bacon, and whip cream. It was super soft and gooey deliciousness! I wish the crust was a little chewier to break up the softness but awesome flavors and the nice fatty bacon mixes the sweet and salty. I also didn’t think it was overly sweet which is a huge plus. The smoked salmon with two poached eggs with a hollandaise sauce on a bed of arugula and a breading. The smoked salmon was fresh and the eggs were poached just right. The sauce had a spicy kick to it. Definitely good. I also ordered a side of croissant and it was warm and super flakey on the outside. Comes with jam and butter. Overall, pretty good. Staff was super friendly but a little slow and forgot a few things, even though it wasn’t all that busy but it’s a casual place. Cute décor with an adjacent coffee roastery.

Cool place catered towards Breakfast, Brunch, or Lunch. Unique in that it also specializes as a coffee & tea café but also serves cocktails. When you come in you order at the cash register and take your number and seat yourself where a server will bring your food over to you after it’s prepared. Water and utensils are self serve at the bar. Items i’ve tried thus far — Oyster BLT(4⁄5). Pretty good sandwich but $ 14 is bit much. It did come up with a side but still overpriced in my opinion Beignets(2⁄5) — Did not like this very much. Expected pillowy, soft, and fluffy like accustomed to and these unfortunately did not deliver. Coffee has been really good the times I’ve tried. Great option if you’re looking to try some place new.
