The Momentum Academy

Full disclosure: my daughter attends this school.
TMA is absolutely amazing! We had been looking into private school for a while as my daughter’s needs were not being met in public school. Our daughter is behind in school and deals w/​some learning disabilities. My husband and I had talked about the Joy School but knew the drive alone from the Dickinson area was going to be horrendously straining on all of us. TMA is for 6^th-​12^th graders whose needs are not being met in a traditional classroom. The classroom size is at most 6:1 for student to teacher ratio.
The school is a Christian school, they do have Bible class, as well as Chapel once a week. It has been absolutely wonderful to watch our daughter be showered with love and attention. She has truely bloomed here! She is the one telling US to hurry up in the mornings now!
The curriculum is truely individualized for each student. For those parents who have been through IEP’s and/​or ARD’s, you know how frustrating it can be to be told «well, your child is behind in math/​reading/​etc» but no definitive answers to be given, or what you need to work on with your child. (same with parent-​teacher conferences, most often) Great, I’ve been told that my child can «recognize five digit numbers. This is a third grade skill.» This is not helpful to a parent and doesn’t allow us to try to fill in the gaps appropriately.
At The Momentum Academy, the assessments that are done with each child are very in-​depth! It is wonderful to actually have somebody sit and review the assessments that were done for each subject, and explain what can and will be done to help close the gaps in knowledge.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this school! If you live anywhere in the area and the current school your child is attending just isn’t working, look into this!
