i love coming to see my favorite bartender austin(ez b to locals) who used to work at NJs off 34th. however unfortunately i wont be back because of the new owner. not sure what his deal is, but if he wants to be the tough guy confronting his customers, he can find a new crowd. farewell, spot club. you used to be cool

It’s like I’m back in Two Rivers Wisconsin circa 1985. The music, the vibe, the energy, the hairstyles, I Love it!!! Full bar, tap beer, running water — all you need for a night(or afternoon) on the town.

Great bar new to Houston and this was the 1st bar I went to. I instantly felt like I was back in my home town in NH. Everyone was great and fun to talk to.

I have been here three times and I am not impressed with the owner. Middle age blonde lady. She is kind of rude with the newcomers. This is the typical neighborhood bar with a lot of regulars, and of course, regulars are first. The ambiance however, is kind of confusing in a good way. This bar is mostly blue collar but you can also find musicians, hipsters, hippies. They usually have bands on Wednesdays and on weekends. There is a lot of country music playing here. I don’t like country music buy I can listen to a couple of songs. It got too country for me the other night so I had to walk away. They also have a pretty good juke box. The beer is cheap but drinks are expensive here. One good thing about this place is the fact that it is never really packed. The crowd consists on regulars who are also older but they seem to know each other and enjoy themselves all night. I have also seen a few Mexican men there, who couldn’t speak any English. Similar to the crowd that frequents The Tall Texan bar. One thing I did not care for was the location. It’s a very long a lonely St. Will I go back? Will not go out of my way to go there. There are many places in Houston I haven’t been to yet. This one can wait.

Best bar in Houston. Most people don’t think of a bar at the end of a stripmall as a landmark, however once you get inside you understand the magic. If it were a standalone building, this bar would be the equivalent of Cheers. Rose runs a sweet ship, and fills it with good people, good music, good vibrations. Buckets of Lone Star at fantastic prices plus awesome bartenders make this place comfortable and you will meet all the regulars here. I truly enjoy my time here and so should you. :)

The Spot has been the spot for some dive bar action since my grandma was young, doing up her hair and throwing high heels on. No really, she really use to come to The Spot before I was born. They have a small dance floor, couple pool tables, a few old skool video games, and some flat screens on the walls. Gracing the walls along the top are large black & white photos of solid country gold singers. The two lady bartenders are good at what they do, yet have the look that they will kick you and your best friends butt if ya give ‘em any lip. Really though, they are nice ladies. There are a lot of regulars that come here as well.

Sometimes a bit dangerous, sometimes a bit raunchy, usually just very dark and cool. In the summer you can emerge from the timelessness, blinking into the sunlight, not sure if it is morning or afternoon. The Spot has some great events like crawfish boils and chili cook-outs, but its real reason for existence is to isolate you from reality and liquefy your assets. Good place to go to meet people trying to forget other people.

The Spot Club is another one of my favorite dive bars in Houston. It’s located in a strip center, which makes it sorta shady the lack of windows helps with that, too. Jan is the sweatheart behind the bar. You definitely want to be on her good side now that the smoking ban is in effect. She’s quick witted with a tongue to match and will let you konw if you’re pissing her off. Oh, and for you smokers, there’s now a little patio area out front with a few tables so that you can kick back and suck down a cig without killing the rest of us. What you need to know: + super casual + booze & beer live here + live music on Thursday is usually Martha White; she’s pretty good + pool table + a better than average jukebox + TVs + dance floor + electronic darts + Golden Tee
