Rolled up at 1am on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning & place is already closed up. DJ still going & looks like there’s people inside, but the door is locked & doesn’t look like they’re letting anyone in…

Great music, good drinks, friendly folks but the wait time to get a drink can get lengthy due to the amount of ppl

One Friday, my coworkers convinced me to go to the Spot with them and I was not disappointed! The Spot is their Spot, the African American Cheers where everybody knows you’re name or want to know you’re name because they’re cool like that. No dress code to live up to, no cover, just people getting it in to celebrate another day done and to get ready for the weekend. Smells of barbeque beckon you outside to absorb the hefty shots of alcohol you may have consumed by friendly strangers… you may even look out your first time here to make sure you’re car is still in its same place because there isn’t much parking here– actually zilch– only street parking. But the music is on point with classic hip hop and present club jams. Find your comfort zone by the bar, sitting on the side benches people watching, or doing something on the dance floor. It’s your world at The Spot. At this point in my life, dressing up to see dudes stand on the wall is so passé. I prefer a hole in the wall any day of the week where you can meet people of all kinds of life. Furthermore, I love places with charm and clean bathrooms! Much love for that! If you haven’t been to The Spot, tell yourself why not and make it a point to make it to The Spot!

The AWESOME bartender from NJs at this place now. I went in to check it out and what a surprise. He is my favorite bartender in the area, great drinks, great service, and he will handle an unruly customer if they ever want to take it to that level with him. I love the service and the atmosphere, it’s very relaxing. Some more TVs would be nice(or better placed) but that’s just because it’s a sports bar. Cool wrap and bar and awesome because the other places closer don’t sell alcohol, so get lit at the spot and roll out from there. All thanks to Austin! He’s the man

Looks can be deceiving. This place is very small and looks ghetto as hell, but the people weren’t, the drinks were decent priced and strong as hell, and the music was good. Just a real chill spot. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is a «hole in the wall» place. It’s nice, clean, have good cheap drinks, and a nice place to unwind after work. The DJ plays good music, and you can always find a dance partner. Don’t expect nothing fancy, so leave your«bourgeois» attitude outside. This place is about the size of a one bedroom apartment so make sure you don’t forget your deodorant because as it gets later, a crowd will begin to form. Overall, this is a nice place, easy to access and the DJ and drinks are great. Why don’t you stop by?

My ending point of the night on the Fourth of July. The place was jammed packed. It was definitely live. Parking can be a problem for this area in general. It’s just one of those factors that can’t be avoided. This place is HOOD. Just in case you weren’t informed. There is no dress code and pretty much anything goes. If you like small crowded spaces, loud raggedy bass, and heightened level of paranoia this is «The Spot».

Every met a classy bar-fly? *extends hand* Nice to meet you, I’m Dom! The Spot speaks to my soul because it is the quintessential«Hole in the Wall». It’s about the size of your grandmother’s living room and kitchen combined and it’s a bit shabby inside and out– but good times await! DJ50 always rocks the crowd with his music selections, and Britt(the Bartender) will entice you in to taking shots of Don Julio blasters all night… never trust a big butt and a smile. I have two gripes: The restrooms aren’t properly attended to. Sometimes they lack toilet paper and/or paper towels, and on busy nights, the floors are always wet. Yuck! My second gripe is that on weekends it’s very difficult to find parking if you don’t get there early. If you are ever in Houston and are looking for a no-frills good time. Check out this 3rd Ward staple.

Love love love this place! Dress is casual, drinks are strong and reasonably priced & the DJ is good! If ur looking for a place with expensive parking, overpriced, watered down drinks and crappy music this is not your spot. The Spot is hood & all good!

I’ve tried this spot a couple of times and I like it. It’s a cool, very casual, and the restroom is clean(a serious plus). The first time I went was for a party celebrating my Alma Mater’s Homecoming and I was seriously overdressed. This ain’t the place for pearls and an off white dress. Jeans, and a shirt will do just fine. On both visits I was able to get prompt service from the bar. Prompt bar service goes a long way in this industry. Keep up the good work ya’ll. The crowd is primarily African-American men. Woo hoo for the ladies a gentleman caller! There is a DJ that plays the latest and some of the oldies in rap and hip-hop and a little R&B. There’s room to dance, lounge, and even play dominoes. It is a pretty good distance from where I live so I will not be a frequent visitor, but I will visit again.

If you are stuck up, act sadity or bougie this is not the place for you. Dont be fooled by by this hole in the wall or «dive bar» as Unilocal calls it. You will easily catch people with a degree in here; I’m talking doctors and Lawyers. This is in 3rd Ward. check out much these houses cost, and you wont be surprised. The Drinks are a good price and strong. Live Dj on weekends. Mostly African American and a lot of professionals who just like to relax with real people. Dont get me wrong, you will find Blue collards as well

Well… This place is one of my Houston guily pleasures. It is hood, ghetto, and any other word you want to describe it. There is no cover, no doorman and the drinks are STRONG. The décor is crap, and there is a bunch of people that stand outside the club. So why does it get 4 stars? Because, though I’ve grown up, got educated, and moved out of «the hood» I guess you could say, I still enjoy local urban dive bars. I figured this place wasn’t on Unilocal so I thought I’d ad it. Why not lol…
