The Teahouse Tapioca & Tea

The banana strawberry is yummy. Overall, I think the drink is more powder than fruit (?) I don’t really know. I only drink the banana strawberry.
I’ve been going to this Hong Kong since I was wee little, and I remember seeing my mom stop by for a drink here every time we came. This sounds weird, but I like their menu’s color. It’s flashy and bright, easy to grab your attention when you’re walking by.

I love this place! This is the only place I’d get tapioca from. Everything taste good. Every time I order something it’s never a disappointment. The staff is nice and the prices are reasonable

I ordered green bean smoothie with tapioca and when they were done blending it wasn’t even green lol one employee told me it was artificial green bean flavoring & the other argued that it was «real» green bean. I literally couldn’t swallow the crap. Then, they tried to get me to pay $ 3 more on top of the $ 4 I already paid. Never getting anything from here again.

I ordered #97 lemon dried plum green tea + tapioca with just small amount of sugar… it was good! The sweetness was just right and the tea has lemon pulp and tiny pieces of dried plum. The tapioca is also cooked just right. Great refreshing drink on a hot summer day!

Taro powder cream tea with extra taro… powder. Unfortunately, this has not resolved our hunt for a place that actually uses real taro. But this taro (cream) tea was not bad, much closer than anything we’ve tasted thus far in Houston.
Heard the Thai Tea was not as good as the Vietnamese coffee, so got the jumbo Vietnamese coffee. That’s some good strong coffee. I’m going to save the rest for tomorrow. Coming back to try their fresh fruit tea.

I hear a lot of negative things about this place. First, all of their drinks are artificial and not fresh like other places. I mean they have like a million drink flavors on the menu people, one scoop of powder and it’s good to go instantly!?! And second, some one said they kept finding bugs in their drinks… how unsanitary is this place that they have insects floating in their smoothies and people like us are drinking it. I only recommend the other smoothie shop in the HK mall by the middle entrance. Fresh fruit and everything is made in front of you. And they sure know how to clean up better than these people. Just giving my two cents.

Went here for a second time with my hubby because he really likes this place. We ordered to same drink from last time, but this time I checked my drink before leaving. Unfortunately, I found a bug in my drink again. I’m not sure if it is the tea they use that have bugs in it or maybe it’s the drink. Anyway, we went back and told them about the bug and they were nice enough to make me another one without bugs. I’m adding another star just for that.

Teahouse always has a wide selection of cream blends (smoothies), ice blends (slushies), coffee, and tea drinks — -with a huge selection of sinkers. All their chains are consistent with ingredients and taste. I can always count on a great boba drink at any Teahouse whenever I am too scared to try out other boba joints.

This is my mom’s favorite boba tea place hands down, and since I pretty much only get boba when I’m with her, it’s pretty much the only place I go now, even though I’ve tried at least five or six other places in Houston and around California. Comparing my other experiences, this place stands its ground pretty well.
Taste: ⁴⁄₅. Most of the things I’ve ordered have been great. Their Thai tea isn’t great.
Boba consistency: ⁵⁄₅. Perfectly soft and chewy without being too dissolvable or too hard. Spot on every time.
Price: ⁴⁄₅. It’s pretty cheap, but I’m getting pretty annoyed at their periodic price increases. It’s always a tiny little increase, but I notice, and I’m getting suspicious that there are no warnings or notices concerning this. But it’s pretty nice that there’s a deal where if you spend $ 20 I believe, you get a free drink free. And your total accumulates each time, so for us, it’s a free drink every 4^th visit or so.
Lately I’ve developed a craving for Vietnamese Iced Coffee ALL THE TIME, so that is my new drink of choice here. It tastes so good, it’s strong, and there’s A LOT of it. Every other place in Bellaire where I’ve ordered Vietnamese Iced Coffee has served it to me in a tiny styrofoam cup filled to the top with ice, so that I’m done with it after only two or three sips. I know that’s the authentic way of serving it, but I want what I pay for, and Teahouse gives it to me.

This place is hidden away in the back of an indoor strip mall, but man is it a find!
This place is really legit, and has all the usual options one expects from a good milk tea/​teahouse. Keep in mind the extras (tapioca, jelly, pudding) are $.50 extra.
The tea itself is quite excellent, and you get a good sized tea for a reasonable price. I got the lemon black tea, and it was pretty good. The lemon flavor wasn’t too strong, and nor was it artificial tasting (some places have lemon tea tasting like kumquat). Not too sweet (but here you can chose more sugar, less, half etc).
If you find yourself in the area and are thirsty, make your way over and give this place a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Of all of the Teahouses in Houston, this one is the best! And not sure if people have noticed this, but the prices of the Teahouse drinks vary by location, with this one in HK4 being the cheapest. But even though it’s the cheapest, in my opinion they make the best and most consistent drinks out of all the locations. The gals who make the drinks at the HK4 Teahouse represent the mixologists of the boba tea craft!
My favorites are the Japanese green tea smoothie with cream and tapioca, and their plain old milk tea with tapioca. And as Michael H pointed out, their tapioca pearls are sweetened, which honestly is the way they should always be — it’s a shame some places don’t do this. Only knock on this place is that it’s so far way from me :(
Best boba place in Houston!

Had no idea about this place in HK4. Otherwise I’d probably have come here much more often. So far, I’ve only tried the Taro Coconut Cream Blend and the Lychee Slush with Lychee Jelly. Both were good, but the Taro Coconut was bomb. Definitely coming back.

You know a good boba place when you tastes one! SWEET TAPIOCA PEARLS? You got me HOOKED!
Quality pearls range from no tastes to bitter to slightly sweetened. Obviously that’s from worse to best.
I would’ve gone for their Peppermint Green Tea with Egg Pudding (it’s like creamy Jello) with pearls but I opted for a Mango Green Tea with Mango Pudding (once again, it’s consistency is like creamy Jello not like pudding pudding) with BABY TAPIOCA PEARLS. OMG it was tangy and what a delight. Will come here when I have the chance again since I’m from Austin.
I’d like to try their Durian Cream next time since the one I had at Juice Box was disgusting. It had chopstick parts in there it was hard wood of sorts. Not sure. I had to throw the whole thing in the trash. What a pity.
Will come again! HIGHLY Recommended. HEART!!!

Well, hey, it’s another typical boba place. Except this one is surprisingly busy even on «bad days», fast, and good tasting (i.e. not everything is doused with high-​fructose corn syrup and artificial flavoring). Probably the best boba place in the mall, and yes, there are several others.

Huge selection of drinks, include cream blends, slushes, and milk teas, as well as a nice variety of sinkers (boba/​tapioca, pudding, mixed fruit, etc). I got a lychee slush with lychee gel and tapioca pearls: it was blended nicely with the ice but a little more sugary than I’m used to. Great for a quick drink after shopping inside Hong Kong City Mall but I’ve had better boba teas elsewhere.
They currently offer a buy 5, get one free deal (it has to be a single transaction) or a punch card for one free drink after 10 punches.

I originally went to the Teahouse on the corner of Westheimer and Shepherd, and absolutely loved it! (I’d have to say one of the best tapioca places in Houston… and that’s saying a lot.) So when this one opened up in Bellaire, I just had to go!
It’s the same deal — they try to have nice, chic interiors — and some board games lying around (although the only board game I’ve ever seen in this Teahouse is Connect Four…).
I love their red couch with the neat light hanging down, and I love their fast service (I got milk tea in under a minute today when I ordered!). I also absolutely love the variety — Their strawberry banana cream blend is amazing!
Their tapioca is generally chewy and not too hard or soft, which is important (and rare — people generally seem to overcook or undercook their tapioca). So… all in all, a great place with good ambiance.
Oh and I love the sink in the ladies’ room! Very cute — and clean, too! I love cleanliness! :)
