This apartment has taught me the best lesson I could learn about apartment living and how to select the right apartment. First, what you are paying for is not just a place to stay. You are also paying, in equal parts, for the use of furnished appliances and maintenance services. This apartment offers substandard appliances with lots of break and fix problems. The dishwasher, for example, clogs easily due to its low quality, and several parts in my dryer have been replaced. The second part of this lesson deals with how to select a suitable apartment. After living here my new rule of thumb is to ask the leasing agent about and observe what kind of cars people are driving in the apartment complex. If the nicest cars are muscle cars and sports cars, with little to no luxury sedans, you are in a working class apartment. As classist and materialistic as it may be it is the status quo in the Houston area. And let me inform you that I’ve seen a couple F350s and Mustangs, but no Mercedez-​Benz, Jaguars, Acuras, Lexus, or Infinitis in the parking lot.
Unfortunately the well groomed and polished leasing office, model units, and pool area do not accurately represent the living standard of this apartment. First, the parking situation is bad, unless you purchase a covered parking spot. There are a lot of stray dogs and a pest problem in many of the apartment units.
The crime in this area is high as well and is the main deterrent for prospective residents. The leasing agents say that there is a security officer, but this is a lie. The gate remains open at irregular intervals, for the whole weekend sometimes, and there are frequent break-​ins, to both apartments and cars. I once drove up on two teenage boys attempting to break into a car parked near my building. What displayed theirs, and this areas lack of integrity is that they didn’t stop or flee when I pulled up on them, and did the whole «I’m a dog lets stare each other down» thing uneducated people to people in an attempt to intimidate. The only time I’ve seen police is when I’ve called them, whether it be because the couple next door are screaming at each other very aggressively or loudly or because adult women are fighting in the parking lot. I’m convinced my neighbor sells drugs because of the in and out traffic to his apartment over the jobless homeless dirt bag male that co-​habituates with the aggressor. My girlfriend doesn’t feel safe here, and I couldn’t in good conscience justify living in this apartment to any serious professional or law abiding citizen.
Also there a 400+ residents in the Veranda Complex.

Completely pathetic and terrible experience living in this apartment complex.
1) Referrals were denied due to management change even after all the relevant documents were provided a little after signing the lease. Reason being — they misplaced the document and there’s no proof that I had provided the referral document to their team.
2) Lot of break-​ins happen in this apartment complex along with robbery — no security services provided
3) Management team never receives the call when you need help — always short staffed.
I DO NOT recommend any one to come in this apartment complex

I would give this place five stars. I live here. I like it here. They are quick with maintenance, the apartments are nice, there are great amenities, the management is very very nice. Why i only give it three and what I cannot stand and am tire of is the complete and utter lack of security. I am told that a security officer drives through but I have never seen this and I have been outside late so it’s not that I’m just asleep. In the year since I have lived here, there has been three robberies and two instances of shots fired. With the fairly high rent, I am positive they could afford 24 hour on-​site security who walks the grounds. I still feel pretty safe here but I think they could step it up.
