As a consignor, this resale shop is not a good deal. You get 40% of the sale, so that’s fair, the going rate anyway, but you don’t get any cash if you have under $ 20 to pick up. You get store credit instead. What?! I’m not here to get MORE clothes, I came to sell, to make $, to get rid of clothes! So, not a great deal at all if you’re trying to make a little cash here and there. I’d prefer to be given any and all money I’ve made, no matter how small an amount. I mean the store is making money off of all my sold clothes! Also, when you’re clothes are due out, and your consignment time up, it’s up to you to walk thru the whole big store and find your items if you want them back. They don’t pull them for you.

Walk in Closet at 561 S Mason Rd, Katy TX, TX77450 has been a major disappointment. In March I took in two very nice Chico’s outfits and one very nice western style jacket that would have been perfect for the Rodeo. In May I called to check if they had sold and if I had some money waiting for me. If not, I wanted to pick up the items. When I called the manager took additional information and asked me to call back the next week. I have called weekly through the month of May. The clothes still have not been located and there is no record of them being sold. The manager assured me this situation was over her head and she would speak with the store’s owner and get back to me. This was on 17MAY and I still have no clothes and no payment. Bottom line, don’t use this store if you expect a positive experience!

I was going to this place under it’s previous management, and through new management. It’s a convenient spot for me, and they would send coupons out before in Val-Pak type mailers around the area. The place always had a little crowd — ranging from mid-20s to mid-40s I’d say. Under new management, I always find it is empty. What types of items do they have? Tons of tshirts and button downs(but I was looking for key pieces like jackets, blazers which were limited). They have jeans, shorts, skirts, workout clothes(I’m not used to seeing that), dresses(incl. a «boutique» area and some wedding gowns), jewelry(some fun stuff sometimes, but much of it is junky Claire’s type), purses and shoes(decent selection of each), TONS of belts, a few scarves, and limited«housewares» which always seemed out of place to me. From a scavenging prospective, you definitely CAN find deals… but I found most of their items to not be in great condition, so come well hydrated and with some comfy shoes which you search the racks. The size of the store is great — not too big, not too small. It has a lot of potential, but I think the owners should be pickier in their inventory and do a better job promoting it(as both a place to shop and consign). They seemed fairly priced in what I’d want to pay for them, but not in the condition — stretched, pilled, faded. I have probably been there a dozen times, and what have I found? Two scarves, a pair of skinny jeans and a Banana Republic tank top. I actually prefer Goodwill, where I have found many a TREASURE(at GREAT prices), and met some very inspiring people along the way(the employees have amazing stories!). Oh and I wouldn’t dare try to sell anything there right now — they are allowed to adjust sales however they want, so you may not get more than pennies on the dollar, and I witnessed one person come in saying she had never been paid in months of bringing items in. They actually had a whole rack of $ 1 items. Really? $ 1… which means the owner is going to get 40 cents(60⁄40 cut — and that may be considered taxable income). The owner simply told her her stuff hadn’t sold, and she was welcome to search the store for it and take it home if she wanted out of their agreement. In my opinion, when you are only going to make a couple bucks, it’s better to find a good charity who will give your beloved clothing to someone in need… and tax-deductible. In full disclosure, I do understand they can offer store credit too, so that could be useful for those changing sizes or needing a wardrobe swap out. In summary: Like any consignment shop it’s hit or miss… but I certainly wouldn’t make this your first stop.
