Tortilleria & Taqueria La Reyna

First of all my gps had me at the wrong address. I called to see exactly where they were located. The lady that answered the phone did not know english and I kept asking her to put someone on the phone that spoke english. She hung up on me. STRIKE 1
I put the address in my maps and finally found the location. I ordered a lg Menudo and she told me $ 9. When the sign says $ 7.99. I definitely said something about it and she wrote down $ 8.65, which is the correct price. STRIKE 2. I haven’t tried the Menudo yet but that will definitely determine if I will return.

I feel really deceptioned and disgusted at the same time. Yesterday was my wedding so we bought some tortillas and rice. 1 rice was Mexican rice. The other 2 were instantaneous rice. Really disgusting. Don’t come here. Not worth it.
Me siento muy decepcionada y asqueada a la misma vez. Ayer fue mi boda y compramos arroz y tortillas. 1 arroz si se nota que lo hicieron ahí pero los otros dos eran arroz instantaneos. Me siento muy disgustada. No vengan aquí.

Awesome and very reasonably priced barbacoa. Carnitas were decent as well. Girlfriend enjoyed the menudo. I didn’t try the tortillas, but they were being freshly made as I was there. Take out only.

I came here to buy corn tortillas only for the tongue I made. My husband and I wanted some tongue tacos. While I was there I decided to get a carnitas and barbacoa taco and a pork tamale. Might as well try it to see if it’s any good. Turns out, it’s very good. The meat is not over seasoned it’s very simple but the meat was tender and fatty. It was so good.
I def will be coming back to this place.

Absolutely love this place. The barbacoa is so flavorful and fresh. It is the best I’ve had in Houston. They have fresh made tortillas which are great with anything. I don’t care for menudo but husband swears this one is the best. They only make it on weekends though so he was a bit disappointed when he wanted it in the middle of the week.
I highly highly recommend. True no place to sit but this is more like a takeout place. It’s not a restaurant. Ladies are always nice.

I stopped when I was looking for a taqueria. They don’t have chicken tacos. I ordered a ½ roasted chicken that comes with a very spicy red salsa and rice. You will have to pay for tortillas if you want some. I didn’t try the tortillas which is what they’re known for. They have chicken and pork tamales too. The selection is very limited and this is a take-​out place; however, they do have two stools and a table where you can sit. My roasted chicken plate was only $ 4.50. I don’t think that’s the everyday price, and a special for Saturday instead. The tortillas they were making looked really good. Nice ladies behind the counter. Maybe I’ll try a beef taco next time.

I stopped in to get the family dinner one night and was very impressed with what we got. It was a Wednesday so roasted chicken was on special. It certainly beats the supermarket roasted chicken. The chicken was probably not quite as good as another favorite, Dodo’s Chicken, but is certainly a much better value. Unlike Pollo Feliz, these were nice sized chickens.
The corn tortilla’s were incredible and are sold by the pound. I loved the green sauce but others in the family found it a bit too spicy. For my family to find it too spicy means it would be very, very spicy to many other families. The only downside is that I thought the Mexican rice was a bit dry an ordinary. We generally don’t do beans so no opinion there.
I sampled the shredded pork and will be going back for it. The other items like barbacoa and lengua de res looked good but are not among my favorites
Please note that this is basically a take-​out only place. I didn’t notice anywhere to eat and if there was it is very minimal.
Highly recommended for the value and the corn tortillas.
